Mosspaw walks out of the apprentice den shaking scrapes of moss from her fur. She looks over at moonpaw with her new mentor. it's going to be weird without moonpaw, mosspaw thought to herself. She pads off to the fresh kill pile and grabs a rabbit. She goes to eat it right outside the apprentice den thinking what would happen if her old denmate caught the sickness.

"Swifttalon! Come with me on a border patrol; we need to make sure none of the rogues have made a move on the borders." Lilacstar called, stepping towards the tom, her ears flicking to rid themselves of the gathered moisture.

Approximately two moons ago, a pesky group of rogues had moved into the abandoned territory beside Windclan and had been causing quiet a commotion ever since. They were constantly attempting to steal territory or prey, and were often seen bickering with Windclan warriors.

'We'll just do a quick check around the territory just to ward them off in case they think they can make any moves.' Lilacstar decided, absently pawing patterns into the dirt. As she waited for Swifttalon, she looked up around her camp slowly. Most cats had left on their assigned patrols, so the camp was relatively empty except for the given sick cat or two. She spotted Mosspaw standing alone, and quickly decided to include the young she-cat in the patrol.

"Mosspaw, you're joining Swifttalon and I on a border patrol." Lilacstar called to the young she-cat, beckoning her over.

Mosspaw looked up from her rabbit and saw lilacstar calling to her. she quickly got up and padded over. border patrol will get my mind off things, she thought.

Swifttalon looked up at the sound of Lilacstar's voice. He dipped his head. "Yes, Lilacstar," he mewed. Getting to his paws, the white warrior padded after his leader. Finally! Something exciting to do! He still couldn't get rid of the thought that the clan was still, sick though. Now, he could have a chance to help the clan. Sure, it was just a border patrol, but you never know what could happen. The white tom nodded at Mosspaw as she came over to meet them. "Hey Mosspaw," he mewed. "Guess you're joining us, huh?"

Mosspaw saw swifttalon heading over to lilacstar. "Ya, I'm coming," she replies as she nods awkwardly to him. "Where should we go first?" She asks as she goes to stand by lilacstar.

"Well, we are going to check to check the borders incase any of anything suspicious. Perhaps we can do some hunting afterwards because the fresh-kill is getting petty low and we need to keep it well stocked for all the ill cats." Lilacstar mewed after a moment, getting to her paws and signaling for the patrol to head out.

"We can't stay out too long though, we can't risk any more cat's getting sick. So perhaps we can do a very brief border check, and if there's no prey, we can head back to camp." Lilacstar decided as she stepped out onto the rough dirt of the moorland, the howling wind and icy rain pelting her.

Mosspaw padded after the leader. i think hunting is a great idea!, she thought, shaking rain from her whiskers

Jetfeather noticed the leader. Mosspaw was padding after her. "Lilacstar? the lack of warriors has left Mosspaw mentorless. I was wondering if I could take over his training until we find a mentor for him?"

Mosspaw hears someone say her name. She turns around to see jet feather padding up to them. his suggesting isn't bad, I like it, she thought. Mosspaw turns to lilacstar, "I like that ide-" *cough* mosspaw realizes she's catching the sickness. "Lilac*cough*star! Help!" *cough* her paws soon began to weaking and her legs gave way beneath her. Mosspaw lays there dazed, she tries to think positive, but just can't.

i could die!!, she thought, this can't be happening!! Starclan help!!

Swifttalon immediately reacted, and bounded over to her, looking at her with worried blue eyes. "You okay?" he mewed. "What's wrong? Did you catch the sickness?" He sighed mentally. Another cat falling to the dreadful illness. Why was this happening? This was completely stupid! He gazed at Lilacstar. "Should we take her back and bring her to the medicine cat?" he mewed to his leader. "It seems she's caught the sickness."

*cough* mosspaw looked up at swifttalon "Please", she meowed *cough* " take me *cough* to the medici-"
Mosspaw broke off and fell unconscious.

"Oh for STARCLANS SAKE WHY DOES EVERYBODY I MIGHT MENTOR DIE!" Jetfeather said. "Okay some one get herbs and ask Moonpaw what she smelled on the plant. some one else go to where she found it and the last person" Jetfeather said "and the last person" Jetfeather paused. "DON'T LET ANYONE ELSE DIE!!! Oh he he sorry Lilacstar. Kinda took charge there..."

Mosspaw woke up but not in windclan, "Where-where am I?" mosspaw stopped coughing. She got scared when no one answered. "Hello?!" She yowls. i must be in starclan!, she noticed. did I die? she asked herself. As if in reply, her eyes closed. A heartbeat later she woke up back in windclan to see jetfeather giving orders. i thought lilacstar was in charge, she wonders. She suddenly goes into rapid coughing.

"That's enough Jetfeather. Last time I checked you were not in charge of this clan." Lilacstar said icily, clearly annoyed at how the tom had started spouting random orders without permission.
"And next time you would like to speak to me, I would appreciate it if you did not halt my entire patrol for the matter." She added, her tone lessening to a cool rebuke as she glared at the tom.

"And Swifttalon, we probably should get Mosspaw back to camp; she can't stay out too long now that she's sick." Lilacstar said, her voice much gentler as she looked down at the half conscious apprentice. She stepped closer, shaking out her fur to rid it of the gathered moisture.

"Help me lift her, Swifttalon." Lilacstar called as she gently worked her shoulder under the small she-cat, half way lifting her, before looking over at the tom.

Swifttalon went all and was like, SOMEBODY'S IN TROUBLE nodded. "Yes, Lilacstar." He crouched down and gently lifted the rest of Mosspaw up onto his shoulder. He took off at a slow trot, making sure Lilacstar was still behind him. "Should we continue our patrol after we've dropped off Mosspaw at the medicine cat den? Or should we just stay back at camp?"

"We'll drop her off at camp, and then continue our patrol." Lilacstar stated, peering over at the tom out of the corner of her eye, finding his slightly apprehensive behavior amusing. Looking forward ahead again, Lilacstar was greatly relieved that they hadn't taken more than two or three steps outside of camp before the little incident.
"I've had to deal with more sassy warriors today than in my entire life." Lilacstar thought grimly; she was sick of being stern with disrespectful warriors, they needed to learn to respect their leader!

As the camp came into view, Lilacstar was relieved to see that the rain was mostly letting up; which makes both hunting and patrolling a whole lot easier for both cats.
"We need Blackbriar! Mosspaw is ill." Lilacstar called, stopping in the center of the camp, the apprentice still sprawled across both her and Swifttalon's shoulders.

Blackbriar rushed out of her den to find Lilacstar and Swifttalon carrying a brown tabby cat on their shoulders- Mosspaw! "Oh... What happened, Lilacstar? When did she get like this? Did she show any signs of ill health before you left?" she threw a wall of questions at Lilacstar, then decided to get Moonpaw to help her. "Moonpaw? Come out here, please. Mosspaw's sick!"

The little of mosspaw that was in windclan and not starclan could feel herself being carried by two cats. they must be taking me to the camp, she thought. great! Another thing to put on blackbriar and moonpaws mind! she thought, accusing herself for getting sick.

Nettleleaf padded out of the camp after much deliberation. She wasn't sure if it would have been better for her to stay with all of the ill cats in case the camp was attacked. After some possibly unnecessary internal conflict, she decided it was better for her to be away from the rest of the camp so she would hopefully avoid getting sick. There is so much drama there today... she thought to herself. The pale tabby she-cat was known for getting lost in her own thoughts so it was no surprise when she finally paid attention to where she had strayed, the WindClan camp wasn't in her line of sight anymore.

"No, Mosspaw wasn't showing any symptoms before we left. In fact, she was perfectly fine. But after we left, she started coughing before she passed out. She was unconscious for a few moments, and has regained slight consciousness since our journey back." Lilacstar explained, crouching lower to the ground so Mosspaw was able to roll softly onto the springy ground.
Stepping back, she looked over anxiously at her medicine cat, her amber eyes wide as she stared down at the unconscious apprentice, the tension mounting with each moment.
"Not another ill cat. We're loosing too many cats at too quick a pace. We'll need to start looking for an actual cure. I'll gather up all the healthy warriors and speak to them about perhaps going out and foraging for any helpful herbs." Lilacstar observed grimly, her eyes darkening with anxiety.

Mosspaw was fully awake and rolled on to the ground. She struggled to Stand up, but she finally made it. A cough made her fall back down. Mosspaw looked up at blackbriar, "I'm *cough* sorry," she meowed, "it's all my *cough* fault I got *cough* sick." Mosspaw rested her head on her paws. is it true that I might die with no mentor yet??
