Epidemic [Official Windclan RPG]

"It's ok, Mosspaw, it wasn't your fault," Blackbriar mewed softly. She helped Mosspaw to get up and supported her, then she said to Lilacstar, "We need more herbs. More cats are coming down with the sickness, and most of the herbs I haven't used just rotted away, but no cat noticed because of the stench of disease. Do we have any warriors up to a long, slow patrol looking for things that may or may not even be there? Jetfeather found a few leaves of catmint, but that's all we have, really." Blackbriar looked into the den, and called for Moonpaw again. She looked back at Lilacstar. "Take Moonpaw, too. If she can lead a patrol to the hole she found earlier with the herb scent in it earlier, the danger could be eradicated by the patrol, hopefully. Then, we can see what this new herb can do."

"*cough* Thanks black *cough* briar," mosspaw meowed. She leaned onto blackbriars shoulder weakly

~I'll just start with this. I was hunting. I'm not sick. wait, do I need to fill out a character sheet?~

Tallstar walked into Blackbriars dream. Then he noticed Jetfeather chasing a rabbit. "Cmon a little faster.. GOTCHA!" Jetfeather caught the rabbit. Tallstar was now confused. "What are you doing in Blackbriars dream?" asked Tallstar. Jetfeather looked confused. "Oh! Your in the wrong dream. Straight forward can't miss it. Put a good word in for me-I wanna be on the journey." said Jetfeather. "No. Thats the leaders choice." Retorted Tallstar. "Fine." Jetfeather muttered.

I think I will join, it's been awhile since I've participated in one of these. I am already in WindClan, but I'll introduce my character to avoid confusion anyway.

Description: Pale grey, slender she cat, with white, star shaped marking on fore head. Bright blue eyes.

Skyeye stood on top of a hill, watching from afar as Blackbriar helped Mosspaw stand up.
So young and strong.. she shouldn't have fallen sick. Skyeye thought, looking away as despair overwhelmed her. Why was this happening to WindClan? Had StarClan cursed them?
No. She pushed the thought away, turning her back on the dreadful scene in the camp. StarClan has no control over our lives, and even if they did possess any kind of power, they wouldn't use it against any of the Clans; it's up to us to overcome our own trials and emerge stronger than before. Skyeye thought as she descended down the opposite side of the hill, picking up speed as she dashed through the tall grasses. And if there's anyone who will grow stronger out of this, it will be me. Every night Skyeye had nightmares of falling ill, becoming helpless to a looming death that hung over all of her clanmates heads, capable of doing nothing to find a cure. She turned west abruptly, heading toward the forest, hopefully where a cure might be growing.

Suddenly, everything went dark. Mosspaw saw a starry, pale white figure coming to her, "hello," the cat meowed eyeing mosspaw.
"Starclan? Am I dead!" mosspaw asked worried.
"No, don't worry, you are young and we hate seeing you suffer but we believe in blackbriar," the starclan warrior meowed. Mosspaw knew she recognized her but couldn't tell who she was.
"Who are you?" Mosspaw meowed, a little confused.
"If you think, you will know." The cat replied.
"What!?" Mosspaw was even more confused now. She suddenly realized that this was one of the cats that sent her down to windclan and took care of her in starclan. doveheart!!
"I must go," doveheart meowed to the young apprentice. "Blackbriar and moonpaw will take good care of you." Then, the she-cat vanished, her starry outline fading slowly in the darkness. Mosspaw opened her eyes, she was back in camp with blackbriar and the rest of the clan, safe.

~just saying, if you didn't look at my character sheet, mosspaw was sent from starclan to join windclan. And, is it ok that I made a warrior from starclan?? She just visits mosspaw in dreams.~

Thunderclaw padded across the moor, looking for prey. With so many cats falling ill, it was important for the others to catch plenty of prey. He had been out since sunrise, and was about to go back to camp after he caught another piece of prey.

Darkpulse heard a faint voice from a far, so he climbed a tree and opened his eyes wide. then he saw Lilcaster and the others,and thought to himself “ maybe I should go help them". He raced toward them while taking deep breaths with each step,when he reached them he turned to Lilcaster and said " are you guys in trouble? " is there anyway I can help"

Swifttalon turned his head, eyeing Darkpulse. "I think we're fine ... thanks," he mewed slowly. "Mosspaw just .. I don't know, suddenly got ill or something so we had to ditch our patrol to bring her back to the camp." The white warrior reached out a paw and prodded Mosspaw. "Is she unconscious? In a coma? Is there seriously another cat that just got sick?" He still had his bag of chips He turned to Lilacstar. "Want me to go back out for a patrol? I'm a bit bored ..."

Frostbite, who had been diligently hunting, stiffened when she caught the scent of prey. Since she wasn't stealthy at all, she used her speed, and rushed at the rabbit. The rabbit, who literally freaked, tried to run, but Frostbite was too fast. She shot at it as fast as lightning, and gave it the killing swipe, before burying it, and padded on, her senses keen and alert. She heard a rustle, and her head immediately turned. She recognized the scent as Nettleleaf, and bounded towards her. "Hey Nettleleaf! Want to hunt together? It's boring hunting alone."

Nettleleaf stopped when she heard the thudding of paws against the ground only a few tail lengths away. Her ears were pricked and her claws were still usheathed from her kill only a few heartbeats before. Her muscles tensed as the rhythmic thuds approached. As her eyes narrowed she suddenly recognized the scent and relaxed a bit. Her claws remained unsheathed but she dipped her head in casual greeting as Frostbite approached her, hesitating for a moment before speaking. "Sure. We could hunt together if you want. I have already caught a rabbit. Have you had any luck?" she mewed curiously.

Frostbite just shrugged, sighing deeply. "Only one rabbit. I couldn't find anything else." She bared her teeth in a grimace. "This sucks. The prey's really low. And literally half the clan is sick! Did we do something wrong? Is StarClan punishing us?" She unsheathed her claws and dug them into the ground in frustration. "It's stupid!" Recovering from her tantrum, she lifted her nose up to he sky, and inhaled deeply, trying to catch the scent of another rabbit, or really any prey. Nothing. "I don't smell anything. Why don't you give it a shot? I've never had the best sense of smell, anyways."

The pale she cat looked at Frostbite then nodded as she padded a few steps away from the rabbit she had caught that was lying at her feet. She parted her jaws and took a deep breath and allowing the scents to fill her parted jaws as she quickly identified ach mingling scent. Closing her eyes in an attempt to concentrate on what she was smelling, she identified a subtle scent of hare upwind of their location t it wasn't as fresh as she would have hoped.

Nettleleaf looked back at Frostbite now before shaking her head sadly before speaking. "I noticed a stale scent of hare but I don't think that will help us right now. Let's drop off these at camp and we can try heading out closer to the RiverClan border. Maybe we will have better luck there."

Skyeye ran for a long time, scanning the grasses around her for any sign of a strange plant, but found nothing. After awhile, she slowed to a jog, then stopped in a patch of heather, panting to catch her breath. Nothing, absolutely nothing that Blackbriar doesn't already have. Then she looked up, recognizing a small bog that she had passed by on border patrol a few time before. She approached the shallow water, sniffing deeply for any exotic smells. Suddenly, a strong, spicy scent hit her nose, and she pinpointed it's source from a foreign plant growing in the mud.
I guess it's worth it, Skyeye thought, slowly wading into the water and biting the stalks, pulling them up through the roots. The stem was reed like, the roots forming large bulbs at the ends. She bit into several stalks, dragging the attached bulbs behind her, trying not to shiver from the icy mud clinging to her legs. Maybe this is the plant were looking for.

Thunderclaw padded across the moor, still sniffing for prey. He padded on, and sniffed again. Nothing. All I got was a rabbit, and that won't be enough. He realized he had hit the border.He looked around. He sniffed the air, jaws parted to pick up the scent of prey. Still nothing. He thought in frustration.

Frostbite nodded, grimacing. "Alright. That sounds like a good idea." She padded over to her buried prey, and dug it out. Picking it up gingerly in her jaws, she padded back over. "Let's go," she said through muffled jaws. Turning, she trotted back to camp at a slow and steady pace, glancing behind to see if Nettleleaf was following. Reaching the camp, she dropped the prey, and turned to the pale tabby she-cat. "Shall we head out right now?"

Swifttalon padded over, leaiving the medicine cat den, and gazed forlornly at the small fresh-kill pile. "No suck luck?" he mewed sadly. "Only 2 rabbits? So sad that the prey's running out." The white tom arched his back, yawning. "Can I join you guys? I'm a bit bored, and there's nothing else to do. Besides, hunting alone is no fun."

Blackbriar weaved past Frostbite, Nettleleaf and Swifttalon and picked up one of the rabbits. "I'll need it for Mosspaw. And on second thought, myself too," she muttered to the cats. She dipped her head, then turned and padded back to her den. She put the rabbit down at the entrance to the den and tore a muscular hind leg off, leaving it on top of the rabbit's body. She then nudged Mosspaw further into the den, into a corner, and left the rabbit's leg near her mouth in case she was hungry when she woke up. If she ever does wake up, Blackbriar thought solemnly. She took the rest of the rabbit to the sick cats in the den and shared it out. She took a scrap of meat for herself and padded towards Mosspaw, lying down next to her, then shuffling way just a little because she forgot for a heartbeat that Mosspaw had caught the sickness. "You poor thing," she mewed softly to the young cat.

~Umm... How exactly will Stormfrost become deputy? And (when) will Moorstrike take over as medicine cat?~

Thunderclaw, frustrated, walked into camp, the rabbit he had caught in his jaws. He set it on the fresh kill pile, and frowned. "I'll have to go back out." He muttered to himself. He turned back toward the camp entrance.All he wanted to do was curl up in his nest and take a nap, but he couldn't do that.There were sick cats that needed fed.

Skyeye dragged herself over the crest of the hill, half walking, half stumbling into the camp. She quickly caught a glance at the fresh kill pile, which was pitifully small. I guess I know what I can do to stay out of camp after this. Skyeye thought, picking up the plant and dragging it to the entrance of the Medicine Den.
"Blackbriar! Come have a look at this!" She called.

Mosspaw looked up to see blackbriar sitting next to her and some rabbit on the ground. "*cough* thanks," she meows weekly. Mosspaw was starving. She hadn't eaten since she left to go on the patrol, where she got sick. Mosspaw ripped tiny pieces off of the rabbit and began to chew slowly. i need to refill my strength, she thought and began to chew faster in larger bites, pausing in between mouth fulls to cough, which she seemed to be doing less. thats got to be a good sign, right?

Thunderclaw looked at what Skyeye was carrying. "What," He asked, "is that?"

Skyeye glanced at Thunderclaw. "It's a strange herb I found in the bog near the edge of the territory. It may be the cure were looking for." Feeling impatient, she picked up the plant in her teeth and dragged it down into the medicine den. "Blackbriar!" Where are you, come see this!"

Blackbriar looked up from Mosspaw to see Skyeye dragging a strange plant down to the den. "I'll be right back," she whispered to Mosspaw. She ran out of the den towards Skyeye and sniffed the plant. "Hmm... It's not like anything I've seen before. Where did you find this?" she asked. She prodded the plant with her paw. Weird... she thought.
