Darker Than Black RP

First topic message reminder :

This roleplay is based on the anime, Darker than Black. It isn't exactly the same but I tweaked things round a little to make it simpler to understand and RP.

Ten years ago, an inscrutable and abnormal territory known as Hell's Gate appeared in Tokyo, altering the sky and wreaking havoc on the landscape. The real stars disappeared, replaced by false stars.

It was dark.

The city was unnervingly quiet that night as the black cat swiftly leaped across one roof after another, only pausing for a short sniff. There was a dark figure crouched at the edge, back facing him.

"Mao? What is it?" The figure spoke tonelessly.

The crescent moon was partially hidden behind the gloomy clouds, weak rays of silver light reaching his face. But one could not see his face.

Because he was wearing a mask. A mask that shielded his face. Mao stared at him for a while longer than necessary, wondering what lay behind that unnerving mask and cold voice. Perhaps there was more behind this mysterious Contractor. Sensing that the other man was waiting for an answer, he quickly mewed, "We have orders from The Syndicate, Hei. Stop the M-16 organization."

His yellow eyes narrowed into slits.

Wipe them all out."

Others: A extremely skilled fighter and capable of acrobatic acts.

Description: Young 13-year-old boy with dyed white hair and heterochromatic eyes - one amber and one green. Has a cherubic face and is well-liked by many. He usually wears a blindfold over his right eye to fulfill his obeisance.
Others: He wields a long pale green sword which he made by himself. His energized sword can slice through everything easily and he can dodge attacks quickly by energizing himself.

Angel made the fire dissipate and shot the girl a hard scowl. "You dont get to tell me what to do, brat." She spat angrily. Her cinnamon eyes heated up, growing into a more milky chocolate brown. Before she could focus on killing off all the atoms of the girl in front of her, Mason stood in her way with a sigh. He layered thick stone around Alexa's hands so they were useless and smirked. "Let's all just stay calm and fight like civil beings." It sounded almost mocking the way he said it, stony eyes humorless pits.

Alexa raised her eyebrows alarmed and somewhat panicked as stone seemed to form over her hands making her unable to use her power. Think! What can you do with hands made of stone. They are really heavy but they can pack a punch.... She glared at the boy and quickly punched him straight in the face with a fist of stone. Oh my gosh I'm honestly desperate. There's not much I can do though... She thought her eyes gleaming with desperation for Shizu or someone to help her on this 3 on one battle. She kicked the boy in the stomach sending him straight toward his wall of stone.

Mason went to duck and was scraped hard on his cheek. Angel turned the stone to dust and tore the girl's hand up. Large bits of skin were missing, making her hand gush blood. "Nice try, prat." She snorted.

Caine frowned, touching his headset. "Help?" he muttered, repeating the static-y word that'd come over. "Alexa?" He knew Shizu was fine; his voice had come only a couple minutes ago. Cursing, Caine jumped to his feet and followed his instincts, back to where he had last seen the loner Contractor girl. The sounds of a scuffle caught his attention from across the street, and the boy raced over, tackling the wall of an old gray building. Scaling it quickly and earning a scraped knee in the process, Caine slithered over the top and moved around the perimeter, peering over the side in a hunched position so he couldn't be seen. Alexa! And two other boys, and another girl. Hardly a fair fight. "Life isn't fair," Caine reminded himself, sourly repeating his father's words under his breath. Fair or no, he wasn't going to stand by and wait for them to kill the fellow M-16. Crouching down, he chose the stone-powered boy and slowly began worming his control over his mind.

Alexa dropped to her knees clutching her hand that was gushing out blood. Panting she looked up at the girl, her eyes sparking with anger. "Well aren't you fair when you fight huh?" She said getting to her feet and stumbling back in pain. My father who did Pyrokinesis had done a trick where he engulfed his entire body in fire. Do you think I could do that? She focused her mind on herself with a flaming body trying with all her might. Please! She thought taking a cautious step backwards. Her arm caught fire along with about half of her body and one leg. About half of her body but it was better than nothing. Using her leg she kicked at the girl and using her mind, she sent flames straight toward the girl and at the same time the boy.

Jeffry heard Alexa calling for help through the earpiece and set off in her direction, still invisible. He ran through an alley and quietly ran around the corner. He saw a girl and two boys had cornered Alexa. He also saw Caine on the roof top.He spoke into hus earpiece, "Alexa. Caine and I are here. " He took aim at the girl's leg and fired. She would be under too much pain to use her power.

Hei groaned, underestimating what the girl could do. His face still throbbed from her blows. There were a lot of familiar voices but he couldn't tell which was which. Pressing a palm to his forehead, he blinked open his eyes. When he realised what was going on, he threw his grappling hook at leg, pulling the wire hard and making her lose her balance. At the same time, he released his power through the metal wire (Electricity conductor Science in a roleplay. Cool hm?), electrocuting the rival girl.

He could hear gunshots and saw Angel (I hope its the right person) going down with a bullet wound. Where were the attacks coming from? Could it be an invisible person?

Shizu ripped the earpiece off his ears, flinging them onto the ground. He could barely hear anything through the static but he knew that Alexa was in deep, deep danger. He threw a backward glance at the last spot he saw Brynne and snarled," I'll find you someday. Then, we'll talk."

He sheathed his green sword and went off to search for Alexa. It wasn't hard to find the girl. There was a horrible racket ahead. He gazed into the sky, surprised that the sun was almost up and soon it would be morning. People are going to find out about us. Contractors aren't meant to be revealed to the public. Things would get worse. After all, the police were after them since Contractors were nothing but trouble," he thought.

~ Is it okay if maybe we kidnap an M-16? Maybe Alexa? Since she's unconscious. And maybe someone gets fatally injured and dies? xD We can always create another character haha. ~

Chris dove in front of the burst of flame knowing it wouldn't affect him and growled in his wolf form, burning charcoal eyes smoldering. He snarled at the pyro girl, knowing he could win this fight since her flames had no affect on his pyro-wolf form and most likely not his human. He'd never tried that before,

Angel gave a strangled cry as she was shot in the leg. Her focus spazzed as she tried to remember what she should do for this. With her heart racing as fast as her mind, her head spun. Trying to push the dizzy confusion and shock away, the girl attempted to regenerate the atoms in her leg and destroy them in the bullet. She achieved only the bullet before everything went black.

Mason as if something had snuck into his mind and frowned, trying to push the invisible being away, block it out with a mental stone wall. With his personality like stone, stubborn, sometimes dangerous, maybe mysterious every once and a while, and cold to others a lot, he usually wasn't persuaded easily. It would take more than a little worming to get into his mind.

~Maybe Mason finds Caine and kills him? Or Shizu? ~

Caine frowned, realizing that the boy already figured out that something was intruding on his mind. He shrugged. No more use for discretion then. Caine slammed full force into the boy's metal wall, using the distraction of the the battle below as an advantage.

Brynne touched her ankle carefully, probing it with gentle fingers. It was only bruised, thankfully. No break. She'd live with it. Her exhaustion was the real problem, and she refused to wait in the backgrounds while the rest got to participate in the fight. Her energy would return in a few minutes, but Brynne was always so impatient. Fingering the short sword, she ran back down the streets, ignoring the dull, throbbing pain in her ankle.

Mao wheeled back when he saw Brynne running back toward the alley where Hei was. He could hear the racket from even this height, and hastily angled in a steep dive. He aimed toward the most distinctive M-16, the boy with the white hair. When Mao was only a yard from the onrushing pavement, he shifted into a full-grown 800 pound Siberian tiger. Landing half on the boy with a whumph, he dug his claws in briefly before hastily springing away at the sight of the pale green sword.

Mason grunted and shoved the now forceful power back. Quickly cacooning Angel in stone to protect her, Mason stalked out of the battlefield to find the source of the mind control attempts. Spotting the guy, he glared sharply at him and sliced a hand deftly through the air, sending a massive boulder hurtling toward Caine.

Alexa gasped in shock and fell feeling the metal and knew Hei was back in the fight. What did you expect, him to never get up again? A voice whispered with venom in her head. I wish... She thought. She felt the cool pavement and in second felt an excruciating pain. Yes, she was immune to fire but not electricity. The pain lasted for a couple seconds and she knew she'd be dead in seconds but the electricity held back just barely enough for her to survive. She watched as Angel went down much to her happiness and then she was sent into a dizzying blackness.

~Well I guess you can capture her but don't kill her! I like Alexa X3~

~ Eh Brightstar, the part about Mao... Mao's powers are animal possession, not shape-shifting into animals. Which means that if Mao sees another animal nearby, he can possess that animal (become the animal itself) and his previous body will be set free... o_o I dno't think there are full-grown 800 pound Suberian tigers in a city hm? ~

Jeffry felt grim satisfaction when he saw the girl go down. He then saw one of the boys cover a girl with stone, and then run towards Caine. That left Alexa and the other boy. More enemies were on the way, so he would have to work fast. He threw his knife at the boy (Hei) and ran off after the other two contracters. He found then just in time to see a boulder fly toward Caine.

(Mason didn't carry angel. He left her there in a cacoon of stone. )

Only Hei's fast reflexes saved him from a knife in his thigh. He deflected the blade with the dagger at the end of his grappling hook. He watched as the light died from Alexa's eyes. The way she laid on the ground made her looked vulnerable and weak... like Pai when he found her dead. He stared at her for a few seconds, feeling a slight ache of guilt. No, Contractors are suppose to kill without guilt. They think rationally and don't care, he told himself silently.

At the corner of his eyes, he saw a M-16 boy (Jefry) running after two contractors and he instinctively used his grappling hook to trip the boy over and sent a strong jolt of electricity through the metal wire, large enough to knock him unconscious for a while but small enough to not kill him.

"Alexa!" Shizu yelled, not caring who heard him. He saw a dark-haired boy standing over her and immediately rushed over, his energized sword ready to attack. "What did you do to her?" He demanded to the masked contractor. "Who are you?"

"BK-201," Hei hissed. Most contractors should have heard of his codename, for he was famous for many reasons. Destroying the Heaven's Gate was one. (There was a Heaven's and Hell's Gate but Hei destroyed the Heaven's Gate.) With a smirk, he disappeared into the sky on his grappling hook with Alexa.

Shizu could only watch helplessly the masked Contractor vanished from sight. "M-16, retreat now! Its morning and we can't draw more attention!" He ordered.

~Jeffry was invisible, but nevermind. . )
Jeffry groaned through the haze of pain, fighting to stay concious. He vaguely saw Alexa get pulled into the sky by the one who had shocked him. The darkness began to take hold, and he managed to turn visible before sinking into darkness.

Brynne paused, hearing a cry of retreat. Which side? She glanced at the sky in surprise, just realizing that it was already dawn. Workers and regular citizens would be coming out now. Sheathing her sword, Brynne ran into an empty alley, winding through the narrow walkways back toward the watchtower.

~Caine died. I might make a new character later.~

Woops Sunbeam, I forgot... Again ~

Shizu caught a glimpse of someone familiar lying on the ground. He ran over for a closer look, realizing it was Jefry. The other boy looked feverish, his face deathly pale. "July," He called to the doll that was standing next to him, apparently uninjured. "Let's carry Jefry back home..."

( Caine died and Alexa's gone. Wow. )

Hei carried Alexa in his arms as he made his way back to the watchtower nimbly with the other Syndicate members. She was surprisingly light, which made his journey back much much easier. The moment he was in his room, he laid her on his bed and took a step back to recall what had happened. Both sides had suffered casualties.

"Just in case you decide to take a walk," He muttered, using a thick piece of wire to tie Alexa to the bed. When he was done, he opened the door and peered into the hallway. "Mason? Are you free? Could you keep guard of my room? There's an M-16 girl inside but I have a feeling that she'll do something stupid. Thanks."

Running a hand through his hair, he smoothed his fringe and headed over to Brynne's room. He opened her slightly ajar door and asked, "Brynne? You there?"

~ Hei's actually incomplete for a Contractor. He's often influenced by his human mindset and is rather irrational. Oh and can Hei, Brynne and Chris go and search for the M-16s? Maybe Shizu and the rest aren't there yet and got spotted blah blah blah? ~

~Sure. ~

Brynne looked up as the door creaked open and Hei's voice floated in. "Yeah. You can come in," she called back, smiling at him. She'd been wrapping a bandage over her sprained ankle. It didn't hurt so bad when she walked or ran, but hurt the most when she wasn't moving, which was strange.

Mao circled around the living room, leaping up and down the stairwell banister. Unable to keep still, he resorted to moving back and forth and looking out the windows as the sun slowly but steadily rose and the regular citizens were beginning to stir.

Angel woke with a terrible head ache. Grunting, she sat up from a cot in the nursery of the Syndicate's place, holding her head with a grimace. Chris and Mason sat beside her, both asleep and snoring softly. Well...Chris's snore was more of that of a grizzly's.

~ Wait, after second thoughts I think Luke shouldn't guard Alexa. Because they're being roleplayed by the same person (Birdflight) Mason can guard Alexa instead then. Luke, Chris, Brynne and Hei will go after the M-16 ~

"We're going after the M-16," Hei didn't enter but stood at the doorway, his face hidden from view. "Are you coming? Chris and Luke are waiting for us."

Chris was now standing in wait for Hei and Alexa while also planning a joke on Luke. What would be new...and funny? Hmmm....Chris's green eyes twinkled with mischief

Luke sighed putting his hands in his pockets. "Well, we totally showed the M-16. We even captured one, and she's pretty." Luke said smirking his eyes glistening. He gave a small half smile to Chris and yawned waiting for Hei.

Alexa blinked open her eyes and the room seemed upside down. Her head was pounding and her body felt an indescribable pain. She tried to move but it just made it hurt more...and she was tied up yet again. She lifted one of her hands just slightly to see her palm bloody and scabbed, probably from scraping it on the ground or something. Alexa closed her eyes disgusted by the bloody mark her hand made. She quickly looked away and now she was intent on the pain. Alexa rammed against the thick piece of wire but it barely moved. Miserable, she was in incredible pain, very uncomfortable with the blood, and she was tied up in the base of her arch enemy's headquarters. Wow, just my lucky day. She thought small flames sparking from her hands in anger.

Chris shrugged. "I guess. Not really my type. Her fire skills are pretty good though. Not much brains in the equation." Chris chuckled.
