Life in WindClan Camp

Honeystar gazed at the Leafbare night sky from his den. A big snow-fall had been going on all day, and the warriors were just finished removing it from the Main Clearing. Hopefully we will have enough prey to get us through to New-leaf. Getting up he walked over towards the fresh-kill pile to check on it.

Fang pinned Iceclaw down playfully and batted her ears softly "I won!"

Iceclaw chewed Fang's fur cheekily, pawing his face. "No you didn't!" she shot back, kicking him lightly in his belly. She suddenly felt a pang of agony in her wound and drew her breath in forcefully, gritting her teeth.

"Hey! Be careful...Sorry." He helped her get up and let her lean against him.
Fang looked at Honeystar and Snowlily "Sorry.."

"Make sure you don't do it again or I'm sure Fernleaf will make you stay here in her den for a moon," Brightstar meowed, padding up. Her whiskers twitched in amusement, but the anxious swish of her tail told them that she was only half-joking.

Fang ran over to Brightstar "Hey! I mean....greetings." He dipped his head respectfully. He padded back over to Iceclaw, his face covered in embarassment.

Applefur watched Fang pricking her ears. With a purr of amusement she got to her paws happy with her smooth pelt. A gush of wind flew by ruffling her pelt. Applefur rolled her eyes. I knew you couldn't have a smooth pelt very long when your on the moors She thought with a small giggle. The sun was slowly setting and the first StarClan warriors were peeking out of the red sunset sky. Maybe I should go on one last border patrol just in case Heaving herself to her tired paws she spotted her son looking slightly bored. Padding over to Stormstrike she mewed, "Wanna go on border patrol?" Stormstrike narrowed his eyes. "You should rest and relax like everyone else. Tell you what, you go relax while I go and check the borders real quick." Applefur's eyes slightly widened. "A-Are you sure?" She asked worry for her son clouding her gaze. With a quick nod and getting to his paws Stormstrike mewed. "Positive." With that he marched out of camp. Blinking in slight disbelief she looked around the camp and padded toward Snowlily. Padding up to her Applefur mewed, "Hows your paw?" With a slightly tired smile.

Snowlily purred in amusement at Iceclaw and Fang. ”I thought you were supposed to rest your leg Iceclaw?” she purred with a hint of concern in her voice. Then she turned her attention to Honeystar who was sitting beside her with a nearly uncomfortable silence. Her fur bristled slightly as she unsheathed her claws and began kneeding at the earth beneath her uneasily. ” I really wish you didn't worry about me so much Honeystar. You have too many other, more important duties to do in camp” she said with a sigh. ”And besides, we have a lot of guests lately. You should focus on making sure everyone else has enough to eat before worrying about me. I can take care of myself and I wish I would have had a chance to see the Awesomeclan cats. I never see them anymore.” She nuzzled him affectionately for a moment.

She rose to her paws now much easier after her paw was treated. The swelling has already greatly decreased and the pain of walking on it slipped away. Slowly still she approached Iceclaw and licked her shoulder in greeting. ”So you finally made it down to Windclan from the mountains? How is everything back home? I assume there's mord than enough prey as always. What brings you here anyway? Not that I don't appreciate the visit.” She nodded to Fang in greeting as her ears perked and she listened as someone approached them from behind. Spinning around she saw Applefur and her pelt rose in embarrassment. Quickly shaking off her pelt and grooming her shoulder she met the Windclan deputy's gaze evenly. ” Yes, thank you. I'm fine. I would offer to go on patrol with him, however, Honeystar seems to have me on lock-down and he already sees to be size with worry” she mused tossing him a teasing glance followed by a long purr.

Brightstar nodded respectfully at Applefur. "Hey," she meowed. "How's WindClan? Do you still need some cats to go hunting?" Flicking her tail back and forth, she added in amusement to the embarrassed Fang, "It's quite all right. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to be treated with formal respect all the time. It's nice for a change."

Honeystar felt a pang of guilt take hold of him as he liistened to Snowlily scolding him. She's right. I'm being unfair to both my mate and my Clan by behaving like this. But I can't help it if I want to make sure she's looked after. Letting out a heavy sigh he quietly mewed, "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to treat you like this. I just care too much about you I guess...If you think your paw's feeling better now, you can go talk to the AwesomeClan cats or join up with the patrol or whatever you want." Licking her ears he added. "I'll tend to my duties while you do that. And then we can finally do something later tonight together." Getting himself up, he walked out of the Nursery to make sure the many visitors were doing alright.

Iceclaw purred back and gave a soothing lick on Snowlily's head. "I'm fine. Its alright! Don't worry about me!" She shifted uncomfortably on her paws, eyeing the cats around her. She wasn't used to having company. From young, she had always been on her own, with her brother Coldfur, who mysteriously vanished moons ago. She longed for his warmth, his protectiveness over her and how he always took care of her. Thinking about him brought tears springing to her eyes and she bowed her head, letting her fur fall over her scar and her eyes, trying to shield the uncontrollable tears.

Applefur smiled, "WindClan is strong with new warriors and kits." She mewed proudly puffing out her chest and raising her head a bit. Glancing over at the fresh kill pile it slowly increased as Stoneshadow, Iceflight and Leopardheart padded into camp with two rabbits, a couple mice and a large bird. "I think we'll be alright for now." She said turning back to Brightstar with a smile. "I'll probably go on a couple extra patrols tomorrow." Applefur added as her mind drifted off thinking about tomorrow. A striking black tom pierced her thoughts and she growled quietly shooing him away from her mind. He's gone now. Focus on your clan. She told herself strictly.

The rouge leaped out of the bushes, spotted Spiritpelt, and a look of fear flashed accross his face.
Ok. Next time I should get a rouge with better stalking skills. Skittlestar thought.

~Is the black cat Nightwhisper?~
Fang looked up at Brightstar "Really? Ok!" He turned to Iceclaw and saw her crying. He nuzzled her and started licking her tears away "What`s wrong?" He stroked her back slowly with his tail.

Seeing that it was a rouge, Spiritpelt instinctively fell into a defensive stance and quickly noticed the flash of fear and knew that this was going to be easy. Going closer, she asked the cat again, "What are you doing in FireClan territory? What business do you have here, or are you here to cause my clan trouble?" Along with all of this, she couldn't help but feel another presence but she wasn't sure what or who it was.

Skittlestar was pleased. Most cats would just jump right into battle, never wondering why.

The rouge snarled. "Fireclan? This is my hunting territory."

(yeah i've been wondering why it's not being done in the fireclan thread and I was trying to integrate with the story then skewwwww right off course. but that's just me.)

"Not according to our scent marks, it's not," Spiritpelt pointed out. "You are clearly on the inside of the borderlines of my clan's territory, so I'd suggest you leave before I have to escort you out with a couple of new scars added to your pelt."

"Good..." Skittlestar whispered a bit too loudly.
The rouge leaped back into the bushes.

Snorting in comply as she successfully scared off the intruder, Spiritpelt heard the loudly whispered comment and spun around looking for the source. For a minute there, it sounded like her leader's voice. Wanting to be sure, she called out, "Skittlestar, is that you?"

Brightstar flicked her ears at Applefur and nodded. "Applefur, you don't have to answer this question, but..." She hesitated, then plowed on. "Who was the father of your kits? I never knew, and I don't think anyone else knows either." Awkwardly, Brightstar shuffled her paws, and twitched her tail in anxiety.

Applefur's eyes widened. "I-its alright Brightstar." Hesitating she looked off into the distance closing her eyes for a moment she looked down at her paws. With a deep breath she gulped and finally mewed. "A tom named Nightwhisper. He was strong but played with my heart." With a growl she unsheathed her claws and dug them deep into the moorland grass. "Everything we had, was fake. I found out when my kits were just born. I told him not to play games with me and that we were over. He was crushed and couldn't stand staying and WindClan so he ran far far away." Closing her eyes she added, "Im glad. I'd rather have no mate then a fake one. Honeystar helped me raise the kits but it was still hard to raise them on my own." She finished and memories flooded through her. "Anyway, how is RiverClan?" She asked her voice shaky changing the subject.

Brightstar hesitated, looking like she was going to say something, then abruptly changed her mind and meowed, "Good... Does WindClan need more prey? If you do, RiverClan has plenty of prey..." Tail flicking back and forth, she added quietly, "Your kits are fine warriors."

Applefur lifted her head and smiled. "Thank you." Purring she added. "We dont need anymore prey. The warriors have hunted." It was true the fresh kill pile was full now that warriors were arriving at camp with prey. "Thank you anyway Brightstar." She added. Getting to her paws she stretched and looked up at the twinkling stars above her. "I think I'll go to my nest early tonight. Hope to see you in the morning." With a small sad smile she turned around and padded across the clearing toward the warriors den.

"Good night!" Brightstar called after her friend. Looking around she wondered if the RiverClan cats would be able to stay somewhere for the night, if they could. It was getting dark quickly uner leafbare's dark grip. "Honeystar?" she called tentaivly
