Life in WindClan Camp

Honeystar gazed at the Leafbare night sky from his den. A big snow-fall had been going on all day, and the warriors were just finished removing it from the Main Clearing. Hopefully we will have enough prey to get us through to New-leaf. Getting up he walked over towards the fresh-kill pile to check on it.

Back at the camp, Aurorakit could hear screeches and screams out in the distance. This kinda frightened her. "W-w-wanna go back in the Nursery Tigerkit?" she mewed to her new best friend. "I think Snowlily will be awake by now, and it's getting kinda cold out here. Are you hungry?"

"No, not hungry, but I'll go in the nursery!" Tigerkit mewed.

"Okay then, let's go. Race you!" Aurorakit mewed excitedly as she readied herself to sprint into the Nursery. "Lai!" she squeaked and started off. I'm so glad I have someone besides my littermates here.

Tigerkit was fast like her mother. She hurtled past Aurorakit, then skitted to a halt inside the nursery. "I win." she smiled.

Aurorakit gave a slight mrrow of mirth. "Yay you won! Great job Tiger." Had it been with her brothers and sister, she would have got a bit upset about losing. That wasn't the case with Tigerkit. Purring and nuzzling Tigerkit, she mewed. "Come on let's see if Snowlily's a wake. I'm starved." She bounded over towards Snowlily's nest. "Mew. Mommy." She called to the white she-cat.

~Filling in for Autumn~

Applefur smiled and nuzzled Mapleheart, "Your like my third son." She mewed with a giggle. Turning her attention back to Autumndawn she let out a faint scream of pain. The first was a tom cat. He was wheat tan with ice blue eyes. He had a fascinating thunderbolt mark on his forehead. The second was a dark brown tabby she cat with white paws and amber eyes and it looked remarkably like herself and Boltclaw. Autumndawn licked her kits frantically and pushed them closer to her belly. "I-Im pretty sure Im done." Autumndawn whispered. Applefur smiled and nuzzled her daughter happily. "Im incredibly proud of you!" She whispered. Autumndawn smiled.

Maplheart purred hearing Applefur's remark. "Thank you." He returned to look at Autumndawn as she gave birth to the last two kit. The second tom seemed to resemble Mapleheart's father, Honeystar. He nuzzled his mate and Mentor. "StarClan has blessed us with four beautiful kits Autumndawn. I'm so happy to have you as my love." Licking her ears he then turned to look at the kits nursing on snow. "I think we need to get them back to the Nursery now that they have been born."

About to pick her kits up a rush of pain jolted her making her stay where she was. Yowling in pain, Applefur gasped. "Another kit? I thought you said only four kits?" Applefur cried crouching down beside Autumndawn. Clenching her teeth Autumndawn growled, "I thought so too!" A last unexpected surprise kit came. Applefur's jaw dropped. "Oh my StarClan...that kit looks exactly like Lotusflower!" She whispered. Autumndawn saw that the last kit was a pretty silver she cat. Autumndawn had heard great stories of her and her jaw dropped also. Applefur sat staring at the kit stunned. Then she smiled and whispered, "She's beautiful."

They're all beautiful. But we need to get back to the nursery." Dreamcloud meowed. She picked up the kit that looked like Lotusflower then meowed, "Let's go!"

As Autumndawn had her last spam of pain, Mapleheart was completely stunned that she still had one kit left. He grabbed the little bundle as it came out, ripped the kitting-membrane off and began to lick frantically keeping it warm with his tongue. This one is smaller than the others. No wonder we thought it was four instead of five. I hope she'll survive long enough to get her to the nursery. Finally hearing the kit give out several mews, he placed it down near Autumndawn's belly, that's when he heard Applefur's astonished exclamation. "What?!" he said equally surprised. As he looked closely, he realized that Applefur was right. The little silver she-cat did look like Lotusflower. He gazed up at the sky. Thank you StarClan. Giving a few licks to his unexpected daughter, he purred to Autumndawn, "She really is. I love you. And love our kits." Tears of joy came from his eyes. "Alright Dreamcloud. I was just thinking the same thing." He went over and picked up the big dark brown tom. It squirmed and wriggled in his jaws, squealing, mewling, whining and flinging it's paws around. "Sorry for taking you away from your Milk-giver son, but we're going someplace safe and warm," he mewed in a muffled voice. One of the kit's paws manged to give him a good swipe on the nose. He really is a little warrior already. And so strong. He Mrrowed as he waited for Applefur and Autumndawn to bring the others along.

Dreamcloud whispered to Applefur, "She looks exactly like... like Lilycloud, my 'mother' too..."

Honeystar had finally arrived as the four cats were about to head for camp. "Thank StarClan Autumndawn and her kits are all right," he mewed as he looked at his five grand-kits. "They're so beautiful." Too bad I didn't get here in time. Picking up the she-kit that resembled Mapleheart, he mewed, "We better hurry before they freeze."

Dreamcloud got a kit into the nursery, then came back to get the kit that looked like Lotusflower and/or Lilycloud, then got it to the nursery, and curled around the two kits to warm them up.

Wolfsong watched as Dreamcloud, Honeystar, Mapleheart, and Applefur brought Autumndawn's kits into the nursery. Most of them were either mewling or shivering. Poor things. They're so beautiful. Mapleheart and Autumndawn are very lucky to have them and each other....If only it were like that for me and Riversong. He let out a heavy sigh.

"MOMMY!!" Aurorakit yowled with delight as she bounced up and down. "The kits are here! The kits are here! The kits are here! Yay!" She was completely excited to see the newly arrived den-mates, who she hoped to play with very soon. "Can we take a look?" she mewed innocently. "Pleeeeaaaaasssse."

"Not right now, Aurorakit. We need to get Autumndawn! I'm trying to warm up the kits!" Dreamcloud meowed. "Aurorakit! Come here!" Tigerkit squealed, "I found a moss ball we can play with!"

Aurorakit was a little dissapointed in not getting to see the new kits, but that soon quickly changed. "Awesome!" She mewed with excitement again. She started chasing after the mossball with Tigerkit.

"Autumndawn, hurry! You're kits will die without you to feed them!" Dreamcloud whispered to herself.

Autumndawn and Applefur arrived at camp carrying the last of the 5 kits. Autumndawn leaned heavily on Applefur's shoulder and slowly and carefully settled down in the nursery. The kits crawled toward Autumndawn's belly and soon stopping mewing. "Applefur can you go get Mapleheart for me? Its time we name these kits." She said with a smile looking at the kits happily. Applefur smiled, "Of course give me a moment." The deputy disappeared out of the nursery.

Applefur padded up to Mapleheart and mewed. "Autumndawn wants to talk to you. She wants to name the kits with you!" She said happily. "Go on!" Applefur added nudging Mapleheart toward the nursery.

"Thank you Applefur." Mapleheart mewed with a slight warm mrrow. As he entered into the nursery [again] he purred as he watched the five kits nuzzling close to Autumdawn's belly. Thank StarClan they all made it. He lied down beside Autumndawn and begann licking her along the ears. "Well first, let's name the large brown tom Bearkit, it seems to fit him perfectly."

Autumndawn looked up excitedly, "Perfect!" She mewed licking the newly named Bearkit on his head. With her tail tip Autumndawn lightly touched the she cat beside Bearkit. "We should name her Leafkit for the leaf on her chest." Autumndawn suggested in a whisper looking up at Mapleheart for his approval.

"That sounds like a perfect name to me." Mapleheart purred warmly as he nuzzled the newly named Leafkit. Pointing to the tom that resembled Honeystar he mewed, "I think he should be Runningkit, after the lightning-mark running along his forehead."

Autumndawn purred a deep loud purr. "Great name. He looks like a good runner too." She mewed smiling. Placing her tail gently on the dark brown tabby kit that resembled Applefur she mewed, "Poppykit. For her black stripes and also its a pretty name to me." Autumndawn mewed

"That is a pretty name." Mapleheart agreed happily. Turning to the tiny silver tabby she-kit, he gazed at her for a while before he spoke softly. "I want to name her Lotuskit. In honour of my mother."

Dreamcloud watched the two new parents. Or Lilykit... Dreamcloud thought sadly. She felt a tear run down her cheek.
