Life in WindClan Camp

Honeystar gazed at the Leafbare night sky from his den. A big snow-fall had been going on all day, and the warriors were just finished removing it from the Main Clearing. Hopefully we will have enough prey to get us through to New-leaf. Getting up he walked over towards the fresh-kill pile to check on it.

Kittystar sighed and shook her head and mewed lightly "Not so good, Their are no sicknesses passing around but we are having a very bad issue with the Desert Rouges Brightstar, they killed one of my warriors and my grandmother, Sunfire. They we trying to steal the kits but Sunfire stopped them and they killed her....But on the lighter side, prey is abundant, eagle chicks and eggs are always in the fresh kill pile these days!" Kittystar spaced out for a second flattend her ears, trying to block out her grandmothers dying screams before she asked quietly "So how are you, Brightstar?"

"Fine. A little tired, but fine," Brightstar replied. Narrowing her eyes, she noticed how Kittystar tensed for a moment and flattened her ears. "But something is bothering you," she observed. Glancing up, she saw Riversong talking with Wolfsong, and Frostleaf heading out of camp with another WindClan warrior. Ears twitching, Brightstar turned back to Kittystar with a small sigh. If only Rippleheart was here... Absently, she thought back to her dead mother, who had been killed by passing rogues last leafbare. If only I had stayed behind!

Kittystar saw her friend's sadness and she mewed "Did you lose your mother to someone?" there was sadness in her voice as she remembered how her mothers old mate murdered her mother. Then she sighed quietly to herself "No wonder cats call me insane...seeing all my family killed really messed me up in the head!" then she looked back up at Brightstar and mewed "Riversong and Wolfsong look happy to see eachother!"

Tigerspirit padded next to Kittystar "I know I`m suppose to be with the Tribe, but we might need you back. I`m sorry... " Tigerspirit twitched her ears, hoping Kittystar wasn`t mad at her.

Kittystar lookedat her deputy and she whispered "Is it those Desert Rouges?!?! Did they raid again?!?!" she mewed worridly, flexing her claws.

"Not exactly... One of their queens came to our camp and she just had her kits..." Tigerspirit kneaded the ground, We need to get back! "She`s no trouble, but we should get back..."

Kittystar looked at Tigerspirit and mewed "Is that all? I guess we must go! Now let me tell Honeystar and the rest!" then she nuzzled Brightstar before calling "Honeystar! I have to go! The Tribe needs me! Good bye!" then she mewed " Come on, Tigerspirit! Lets go home!" then she raced away.

"Uhh...ok." Tigerspirit raced ahead of Kittystar, leading her back to camp.

Iceclaw watched Applefur intently as she hunted the rabbit. She nodded impressively at the WindClan deputy's catch. "Good catch!" A purr rumbled in her throat. First, she dropped into a low crouch, her tail sweeping low on the ground while her ears were flattened. Slowly, she inched forward towards the rabbit. She suddenly broke into a run, catching the rabbit off guard and killing it with a swift bite. Pleased, she carried the warm body in her jaws and padded back to join Applefur.

Applefur smiled and purred. "Great job! Are you sure you dont have any WindClan blood?" Applefur asked Iceclaw with a playful nudge. "Lets see if we can catch anything else." She suggested pricking her ears her tail swishing slowly and gently intent on picking up any scent of prey. The snow didnt help. "I think I scent bird." She mewed. Scraping dirt over her rabbit she stalked forward and ducked down to see a bird pecking the ground looking for food buried beneath the snow. Stalking forward she crept forward checking that she was downwind. The bird lifted its head. Here goes nothing! She thought. Just as the bird spread its wing and started to fly Applefur leaped high into the air slapping her paws down on the bird. Back on the ground she gave it a quick bite to the neck and lifted her head. Dropping the bird she padded back to Iceclaw. "Do you scent any more prey? With all the visitors we'll need plenty of prey." She mewed dipping her head in respect for the IceClan she cat.

Brightstar padded to the top of the hill and looked down at the two hunting cats. Flicking her ears, she picked up the two fish she had caught earlier and raced down to join them. "Hey Iceclaw! Hello Applefur!" she meowed and as she slowed to a stop next to them. "Nice catches."

Snowlily yawned and let out a small purr as she padded slowly back out of the nursery. She watched as Phoenixkit, Frostkit and Cedarkit played together in the clearing. So much of only pretending to sleep for a while. It was already late in the afternoon. She looked around the clearing wearily as her fur rose unconfortably against the wind. After shaking off some of the moss that had clung to her pelt she sat down near the entrance of the nursery. Her paw was still sore and her pad slightly swollen. I don't know if it's getting better or worse... Where is Fernleaf anyway? I haven;t seen her since I got to Windclan. She felt her heart drop as she found that she wasn't able to walk on it without the pain shooting up her leg and down her side and neck. Her fur bristled slightly in response. "Honeystar? Where did you go...?" she mewed quietly as she licked over her paw again.

Honeystar walked up to Snowlily. Her paw is still swollen and sore. Maybe I won't be able to bring her there tonight after all. "I couldn't find Fernleaf. I guess she is busy with the RiverClan cats. Perhaps I should go get Craneflight instead. His knowledge in herb-lore is as good as any Medicine cat's." Lying down next to her, he quickly gave a couple of affectionate licks to her ears.

Snowlily gave a warm purr in response. ”Honeystar, I'm alright. Please don't make such a fuss over me” she mewed to her leader quietly. He always seems to worry more than is necissary. ”I can wait. Though I'm sure seeing Craneflight will be able to help me too.” She looked around the clearing at the other cats then looked at the meger fresh-kill pile. She sighed and looked down at her paw as a pulsing pain swept up her leg in waves. She flexed her injured paw in an effort to bring down the swelling. She looked back at Honeystar, awaiting his decision.

Iceclaw let out a purr at Brightstar. Previously in her life, before she left RiverClan, Brightstar was only a deputy. "You're a leader now? Congratulations! All the best for your clan!"

Honeystar gives Snowlily a lick on her cheecks. "I just want you to be well enough to take you somewhere special tonight.' with this he gave a slight purr. "I'll go find Craneflight so he can heal your paw." He turned to look at the nearly empty fresh-kill pile. Wonder if I should go out hunting?

Spiritpelt had been out hunting, well more like walking around since there was so few in her clan there wasn't much needed hunting so as long as the fresh-kill pile was at least half full. Crossing the RiverClan border and somehow letting her paws carry her to the edge of WindClan, she started picking up the scents of RiverClan's mixing with Wind's. "They must be on business," she thought to herself. Then she started wondering how she managed to get here without knowing it.

~Is it too late to join?~
Skittlestar sat in the bushes quietly watching Spiritpelt. She had gotten one of her loner friends to pose as a kittypet tresspasingin Fireclan territory. The loner, Twix, would jump out of the bushes in front of Spiritpelt soon. She wanted to know what Spiritpelt would do if she found an intruder, to see what kind of deputy she might be.

Skittlestar was planning on making Spiritpelt the deputy, but she wanted to know what kind of deputy she'd be. She remembered yesterday, when the cats of Fireclan had casted hatefull glances at her. They had been angry that she still hadn't chosen a deputy or a medicine cat. They all thought she was weak.

Applefur bounded into camp with the plump bird and rabbit. Before stopping to say hello she didnt want feathers or fur in her mouth. Dropping the prey on the fresh kill pile she smiled at Brightstar and mewed, "Yes! All the best!" She agreed with a purr. Enjoying the breeze she sat down and began to clean her pelt making it smooth and silky.

"Thanks Iceclaw!" Brightstar gave her old friend an affectionate nudge on the shoulder. "how's life in IceClan?"

Fernleaf stretched and watched Riversong pad away, her wound carefully wrapped in cobwebs and covered with marigold poultice. Glancing around, she noticed Honeystar padding around the camp, softly calling her name. Fernleaf glanced at Echosong. "Be right back," she mewed, and hurried after the WindClan leader, licking marigold juice off her paws as she went. "You were looking for me, Honeystar?"

On her unforeseen journey, as she was going out of FireClan's territory, Spiritpelt kept hearing something following her. She wasn't sure about it for a good time, but now she was certain that it was a cat that was on her trail. Keeping the same pace for a few yards, she stopped spun around and called out, "Alright you, come out here where I can see you. And don't think of still hiding pretending that you don't exist, I can hear you rustle through the bush's leaves."

Iceclaw looked slightly surprised when the RiverClan leader nudged her. She dipped her head in respect and replied," Life in IceClan is great! Its quite different from here and its much much colder!" The pungent smell of fish and river from Brightstar's fur suddenly brought her back to the memories when she was once in RiverClan. With Coldfur...

Fang padded over to Iceclaw, seeing her eyes sad, he nuzzled her, "What`s wrong?" He nodded his head to Brightstar "Hello, Brightstar."

~ Why is everyone visiting WindClan now? O.o ~

Iceclaw spun around in surprise, jolting out of her thoughts. "Fang!" she gasped at her own mate. "Why... why are you here?" She widened her eyes in curiosity and waited for his answer.
