Shadowstorm's Rescue

The basic story outline so far....

Shadowstorm is captured and poisoned by Monkeystar. IceClan is allianced with ThunderClan. Monkeystar moves Shadowstorm to IceClan fortress. The remaining Clans are in distress. RiverClan, ShadowClan, AwesomeClan, and FireClan join up to save Shadowstorm. Monkeystar's plot is revealed! He wants to take over the entire forest and is starting by using poor Shadowstorm as a decoy. As Shadowstorm gets weaker and weaker, the Clans combine and prepare for rescue. A strange group of cats and animals arrives from a Distant Land. The RiverClan, AwesomeClan, ShadowClan, and FireClan alliance plans a daring rescue with the welcome strangers. The Allied Clans travel up the mountain. Meanwhile, WindClan has apparently allied with IceClan and ThunderClan! Lotus-star regrets her decision and does not like how Monkeystar is pushing her. She meets with Tobi the dog from ShadowClan and is planning to see him again. Meanwhile, the "good side" recruits wolves and other animals along the way to defeat the battle hardened IceClan members. What will happen in this final episode? Will Shadowstorm be saved? What will Lotus-star ultimately choose? Will the forest become under the rule of Monkeystar or will he be brought to justice? It begins here!

<night falls>

Pain watched from the castle tower. Lotus-star had not been at the Fortress for several days. Perhaps she froze, he thought gleefully. He watched into the distance. The night was black. Snow fell harder and the wind was bristling cold. Snow whipped Pain's face, but his eyes danced like fire. They would come soon, he thought. "It's only too bad that I was assigned lookout duty when I should be asleep." he muttered. He stamped his paws. It was frozen outside and nice and fluffy on the inside. Perhaps he should go in and rest awhile?

Fireheart watched her walk away. He kinda didn't want their trip to end but it had. He walked in the opposite direction of Sagedapple to try to find Monkeystar.

Starclaw went out to search for Firestar. There was a storm coming. Surely he had heard Shuriken's warning... Wait! There he is now! Starclaw rushed forward. "Fireheart!! Over here! Quickly, storm's approaching. Visibility will be low. Plus, we'll miss the nice dinner Monkeystar made!" (xD)

It was true. Monkeystar had a nice meal ready. Monkeystar knew there was a big fight looming straight ahead. He had prepared for freshkill to be delivered. The opposing Clans wouldn't be able to find food on the mountain. But once they reached the Fortress, went through it, and went to the land beyond, there was a large pine forest with a big frozen lake. It was far from the castle, but Monkeystar needed his Warriors to be strong. His Warriors returned with a nice pile of prey in the afternoon.

Sagedapple slipped up to Fireheart before he could join the huddled mass of ThunderClan cats as they ate. "Meet me later," she whispered. "Then I can give you strengthening herbs to give to your Clanmates."

Icestar broke away from the main group with Honeytounge and his friends, rolling her face in the snow so her blue eyes might be disguised a little more. She held back a snneze from a bit of snow getting in her nose, fearful they would be detected before their plan could start.

Brightstar purred when she saw Icestar rolling her face around in the snow. "Come on!" she meowed. "You can just narrow your eyes. No need to make yourself look like a snow cat."

"Ok!" Icestar bounded through the snow until she caught up with the other cats again. She could almost smell the tension in the air. Icestar took a big breath. Wait, what was that smell? Icestar sniffed again. Mouse! Icestar sighed, but didnt want to be left behind again, so left the tantalizing scent of fresh-kill behind her.

Brightstar saw Icestar glance longing behind her. "It's okay," she meowed. "You can go. I'll tell them to slow down."

"No, I dont want to slow the mission down, especially since Shadowstorm is running out of time." Icestar fluffed her felt up against the impending coldness.

"Okay, okay." Brightstar shrugged. Shaking out her pelt, she sniffed the air. "I smell rabbit too."

Hazeldust saw some other cats hunting and thought it was a good idea. Prey was scarce around here, only skylengths of snow everywhere. At least we won't go thirsty, she thought glumly. Licking some snow would melt in their mouths to form water.

OOC: Okay, I am still not sure what exactly is going on, so what I say may not be accurate.

Skyeye brushed her fur against the castle wall. Surely there was a secret passage somewhere. She missed the open sky, and she was sure her clanmates did too. Skyeyes gritted her teeth in anger.
WindClan doesn't deserve to be trapped in here like rats! If I ever catch Monkeystar, I'll make him pay for stealing our pride like this!
As Skyeye continued her walk, she stepped on a invasive patch of grass and tumbled downward. A shower of dirt hailed on her, and Skyeye fought the urge to yowl her fear. Skyeye looked up to the top of the hole she fell in. The ground covering it must have been rotten. Reailzing the hole was too tall to crawl out of, Skyeye looked down for a way out. She dug in the soft dirt, and soon she fell into yet another hole. When Skyeye landed, she discovered she was in a tunnel and could see the bright light of the outside world ahead.
If I go back and get everyone, I'll risk getting caught and then I'll never find an oppurtunity like this again. If I go forward without them, I could tell the other clans about this secret passage!
The thought of leaving Shadowstorm and her clanmates to the cruelty of Monkeystar hurt Skyeye, but it seemed like the least strategtic option. Skyeye dashed forward, hoping it wouldn't take long to find the other clans.

The cats trodded steadily on, occasionally hunting. They were walking downhill, after painstakingly climbing up a large hill, and they could see the fortress faintly through the blowing snow. Another smudge was moving, much smaller, but closer. It looked vaguely familiar...

"Is that a cat?" Hazeldust squinted against the wind.

OOC: That's the way I interpreted the situation.

Skyeye was nearly knocked over in the strong wind outside. The blasting snow stung her face, and her paws were freezing. For once, Skyeye wished her fur was a bright colour instead of pale grey so someone could see her sooner.
Determined to find Lotus-star, Skyeye slowly made her way through the blizzard and soon started desending down a steep hill. Skyeye was grateful the wind couldn't blow at it's full force here; one slip and she would dangerously fall into the gorge below.
As Skyeye got closer to the bottom of the hill, the snow got deeper, and her pelt was soaking wet. Skyeye didn't like admitting defeat so easily to the weather, but she knew she would freeze to death if she didn't get out of the blizzard soon. Her only hope was that an ally was nearby.
"Help! It's Skyeye! Is anyone there! Help!" Skyeye yowled with all her strength.

Brightstar gritted her teeth. "If the storm keeps up, we'll all be blown of this mountain," she hissed. "Wait!" she stiffened. "What's that?"

Skyeye fought the urge to panic when no one responded to her call. Lifiting her head to the sky, she yowled as loud as she could, " Please help! I am not one of Monkeystar's supporters and I can help you rescue Shadowstorm!"

Fireheart wondered why she was being so nice. Then again, he wouldn't dare to ask. He will take her offer. "Alright, thank you Sagedapple." he replied.

Icestar fought the temptation to chase after a nice, warm rabbit, but she could hunt later. If the choice was between Shadowstorm and a full belly, she would paaws-down choose Shadowstorm, anyday. Even in leaf-bare.

~Wow, we sure do dump a lot of hardships on ourselves, don't we? Hungry, cold, preparing for war...~

Hazeldust cocked her head on one side and listened. A faint, tinny call-and the wind carried the smallest scent of WindClan, and it wasn't Lotus-star. The group of cats trudged closer, and the smudge of grey she had seen was actually a cat-a WindClan cat, but she couldn't identify who it was.

"Can you see that? Do you know who it is?" Hazeldust started irritating other people by butting into their sides and exclaiming things, pointing vigorously with her paw, but that just made her lose her balance and slip down the slope of the hill. "Lovely," she snorted some snow out of her nose, but now she could see the cat closer. "Skyeye?"

~Just thought to hurry this up, it was like we were just walking at the same pace. So we probably all meet up and stick our heads together and come up with an even more brilliant plan to barge in and barge out victorious. ~

Honeytongue looked towards the direction Hazeldust had pointed out (to the annoyance of other cats). He could see a gray she-cat in the distance. The scent of WindClan was on her, and she seemed to be totally lost in the snow. Then suddenly Hazeldust lost her balance and slipped down the slope of the hill. He followed her to see if she was alright. When he got there, he heard Hazeldust say "Skyeye?"
Skyeye, that would make sense. From what he had learned from Lotus-star, Skyeye had a tendency to be a little over-adventurous. Seeing that the AwesomClan deputy was fine, he rushed on over.
"Skyeye over here! It's me Honeytongue, are you OK?"
