Shadowstorm's Rescue

The basic story outline so far....

Shadowstorm is captured and poisoned by Monkeystar. IceClan is allianced with ThunderClan. Monkeystar moves Shadowstorm to IceClan fortress. The remaining Clans are in distress. RiverClan, ShadowClan, AwesomeClan, and FireClan join up to save Shadowstorm. Monkeystar's plot is revealed! He wants to take over the entire forest and is starting by using poor Shadowstorm as a decoy. As Shadowstorm gets weaker and weaker, the Clans combine and prepare for rescue. A strange group of cats and animals arrives from a Distant Land. The RiverClan, AwesomeClan, ShadowClan, and FireClan alliance plans a daring rescue with the welcome strangers. The Allied Clans travel up the mountain. Meanwhile, WindClan has apparently allied with IceClan and ThunderClan! Lotus-star regrets her decision and does not like how Monkeystar is pushing her. She meets with Tobi the dog from ShadowClan and is planning to see him again. Meanwhile, the "good side" recruits wolves and other animals along the way to defeat the battle hardened IceClan members. What will happen in this final episode? Will Shadowstorm be saved? What will Lotus-star ultimately choose? Will the forest become under the rule of Monkeystar or will he be brought to justice? It begins here!

"Honeytoungue!" Skyeye jumped through the snow toward the deputy.
"I am fine." Skyeye bit her tounge to keep from adding that she was freezing her fur off. WindClan and Shadowstorm were in even greater danger.
"I just escaped from the castle! I found a secret tunnel that goes right into the middle of it! I am not sure if they noticed it yet though."

"A secret tunnel, that's greatl to hear! Come on we need to let the others know about this." Then just as he was about head back, he stopped and noticed Sagedapple trying to hide the shivers she was feeling. "Come on, we need to get you warmed up first, you've been out here in the cold too long."

Skyeye wanted to protest, to say that their misson was too urgent to put aside. But what good would a secret tunnel do if it's discoverer was dead?
"Fine." Skyeye sighed.

Ninecloud had seen Skyeye leave. He hadn't try to stop her. The worry had seemed too genuine. Besides, in a real battle, Ninecloud doubted she could put much of a fight anyway. "Monkeystar! Come look at this passage! Seal it up?" asked Ninecloud.

Monkeystar laughed. "No, definitely not. The tunnel is a trap. It's lined with shark skin. Going out is easy, you're going the same direction with the shark skin. But coming back, the shark skin is pointing straight at you. It cuts and shred through skin and flesh. In the rare event that even if you do make it through the tunnel, you'd look worse than a cow gone through the butcher. Trust me, Shuriken promised that all tunnels outside are either trapped or have traps that can't be disabled. There is no way to get in but the big front doors. You can trust Shuriken to know the castle - he lives here."

~ Bah. Now we have to think of yet another clever way to sneak in and sneak out. And where did you get shark skin?~

The cats were sitting, huddled. At least the warmth could be shared that way, but Hazeldust sat on the outskirts of the group-she didn't feel like getting cuddled, even though it would be warmer. She heard of the secret passageway but couldn't help feeling a little doubtful. IceClan didn't seem like the type of cats to leave secret passageways around without putting some lethal trap in it beforehand, especially where any cat could find it. Like Skyeye.

"Are you sure it isn't rigged with a trap?" she asked the grey she-cat, trying to keep the doubt out of her voice.

Brightstar lifted her muzzle from where she was crouched beside Icestar. "I'll go look," she offered. "Skyeye can lead me."

Awhile later........

Sagedapple regarded Fireheart with a guarded look. "Do you not want the herbs?" she pointed out. "We're all on the same side."

Hazeldust still had an itching feeling that there wasn't enough to do at the moment, and suddenly declared, "I want to come too. Having three cats in a group is best-one main cat, one distracter, one backup. And I think we should hurry-we should get to the fortress by nightfall, and then launch the attack in the morning."

Brightstar glanced at Hazeldust. "Okay," she agreed. "Let's go."

Fireheart gave her a smile. "Sure, thank you Sagedapple"

Sagedapple gave Fireheart a leaf packet. It was the same one that she had taken on her journey with him. "Give each warrior one of the small packets inside," she instructed. "It'll taste bitter."

Fireheart was kinda confused. "Sure, I will do that. Thanks again, although, how can I repay you for helping our clan?" he asked.

Sagedapple sat back. Shrugging, she turned away, back to her make-shift den. "Consider it payed. You don't have to pay anything back to me, Fireheart."

Fireheart was shocked. He wouldn't let that happen. "I'll remember this day you gave us herbs and I will one day do something for you," he promised.

Sagedapple blinked at Fireheart. "Thank you," she meowed.

Fireheart shook is head. "No, thank you," he replied as he took the big leaf packet and walked towards his clanmates.

Sagedapple slipped into her den, yawning. The day had been long and she was tired. Curling up, she yawned again.

Skyeye led Icestar and Hazeldust toward the tunnel. She was excited that she would be a part of Shadowstorm's rescue, but with each step, doubt crept through her fur. Niether IceClan or ThunderClan were dumb. The more time passed the chances of the tunnel being discovered were greater. An ambush waiting at the end of the tunnel wasn't out of question. Soon the castle came into sight, and Skyeye barely reconized the entrance passed the snowdrift that hid it.
"Icestar! Hzeldust! The tunnel's right here!" Skyeye called, hoping no one would overhear.

~I know, I meant 3 cats as in you, me, and Skyeye. ~

"Great!" Hazeldust exclaimed, shaking snow out of her ear. Pawing away the light, decieving snow, the dark entrance appeared, and it was large enough for a cat to fit in. "Right, let's go!" she darted in swiftly, but she realized too late that the tunnel actually was trapped, and the ground was dangerous, tearing at her pads. The tips of her tail, legs, and head that brused along the walls were scratched, and she could smell her own blood.

"Get back, go back out!" she shrieked, trying to turn without touching the tunnel walls and bolting back out. But she was unsuccessful-when she sat in the snow, tiny droplets of blood scattered around on the pure white snow. "Well, IceClan has great defences," she said glumly. She felt like she had been clawed all over.

Skyeye felt like her stomach had been torn out from her.
How did this happen? I came through the tunnel unscathed! Skyeye thought.
"Come on, we need to tell the others about this immideatley. Let's just hope the blizzard will cover the blood you'll leave behind." Skyeye said, nudging Hazeldust to her paws.

< I thought you'd at least check for traps first?>

"Obviously Shuriken had laid a special trap in the tunnel." Honeytongue noted grimly, after hearing the news. "Making it easy for a cat to go out of the fortress but not back in."

"So we're not going to use it Madhu?" Speckleback asked.

"We might be able to still use it to escape, but we're going to have to find another way to get in." Kali pointed out

"What about your idea of having Lotus-star stow us away in the travel-bag, can we still do that?"

"We probably could Speckleback!" Honeytongue realized. "I'll go talk to Lotus-star and the others about it."

"While he's doing that, we should start practicing with our weapons." Kali said to her fox apprentice. "From the way things are looking now, we're going to need to use them more than we ever had before."

Shuriken was not one to become impatient. The longer the enemy waited, the weaker they would become. Shuriken was comfortable inside the castle, shielded away from the weather outside. "Fluffah beds indeed," he said to himself. He retreated into his room.

Shuriken gazed out the window. He was in the main bedroom in the highest tower. The window looked straight out. He saw some suspicious activity on the ramparts of the Fortress. He frowned. They appeared to be cats. He snickered. Would they fall for the trap?? But no, only one was injured. Humph he thought to himself. Suddenly he had an idea. Shuriken leaped out the window and jumped onto the balcony. Then he jumped onto the top of the wall and ran down the other side. He began to tail the enemy cats like an evil, unseeable shadow. Soon Shuriken saw their camp. "Perhaps we do not need to wait to fight after all," he said to himself.

Leaving the other cats to discuss more about the attack, Hazeldust pulled herself away from the group to a small hill nearby. She had planned to roll down it, hoping the cold snow could help numb the pain of the scratches. Flopping down, she rolled aimlessly down, and soon her fur was caked with snow. She began to pick up speed, s she dug her claws into the ground and skidded to a stop. Shaking excess snow off herself, she proceeded to walk back to the camp when she saw a darker figure against the snow, close enough tospy on the camp.

It wasn't a WindClan, AwesomeClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, or FireClan cat-it was from IceClan. "Shuriken," she hissed. What was he doing here?
