Shadowstorm's Rescue

The basic story outline so far....

Shadowstorm is captured and poisoned by Monkeystar. IceClan is allianced with ThunderClan. Monkeystar moves Shadowstorm to IceClan fortress. The remaining Clans are in distress. RiverClan, ShadowClan, AwesomeClan, and FireClan join up to save Shadowstorm. Monkeystar's plot is revealed! He wants to take over the entire forest and is starting by using poor Shadowstorm as a decoy. As Shadowstorm gets weaker and weaker, the Clans combine and prepare for rescue. A strange group of cats and animals arrives from a Distant Land. The RiverClan, AwesomeClan, ShadowClan, and FireClan alliance plans a daring rescue with the welcome strangers. The Allied Clans travel up the mountain. Meanwhile, WindClan has apparently allied with IceClan and ThunderClan! Lotus-star regrets her decision and does not like how Monkeystar is pushing her. She meets with Tobi the dog from ShadowClan and is planning to see him again. Meanwhile, the "good side" recruits wolves and other animals along the way to defeat the battle hardened IceClan members. What will happen in this final episode? Will Shadowstorm be saved? What will Lotus-star ultimately choose? Will the forest become under the rule of Monkeystar or will he be brought to justice? It begins here!

"I think we should try the first plan Crystaldance. We'll get your Clan out safely. But then we need to attack immediately because I think by rescuing your Clan, Monkeystar will know it's time to attack. So maybe as we rescue your Clan, the assault on the Fortress is done?" asked Crystaldance.

Echosong nodded. "Maybe. And we could use a small attack patrol to distract IceClan and ThunderClan if they spot Lotus-star sneaking out with WindClan."

"We can probably do both, have one team distracting ThunderClan and IceClan from the outside, and the Rescue Team sneaked inside by Lotus-star." Honeytongue suggested. "That way we can get both WindClan and Shadowstorm out together!"

Brightstar dipped her head in agreement. "The rescue patrol should contain grey, white, and black cats. That way, it would be hard to see them. And the battle patrol should be big enough to fight off IceClan and ThunderClan, but small enough so it leaves the rescue patrol enough cats to fight off any guards or cats that try to stop them."

Turning to Lotus-star he added, "I know you're worried about our clan-mates getting killed by ThunderClan and IceClan with the shark's teeth. That's why I want Kali, Mangostep, and Speckleback to accompany me and the Rescue Team. You can use the travel-bag to carry us into the fortress, there should be plenty of room in there. When the time is right, you'll open it up, and then gather the rest of WindClan. The Rescue Team can head for the dungeon to retrieve Shadowstorm. The four of us [Kali, Speckleback, Mangostep and me] will hold off any attacks on both groups until everyone's out of the fortress. Kali," now facing his adopted-litter-mate. "What weapons did you bring along? We're going to need something that'll keep any shark-tooth armed warrior at bay from a safe distance."

Silversong eyed Kali thoughtfully. "Maybe you should give a weapon to every few cats and at least one to the rescue party? That way, if they meet Shuriken, Pain, Desertclaw, or Icewing, they can avoid their claws more effectively."

"Good idea Silversong!" Honeytongue pointed out. "My only concern is if we can train them to use the weapons they're given properly."

Desertclaw saw Lotus-star return. He didn't think much of it til he saw all the WindClan cats heading for the door. In his head he was thing WTF ("F" is for "freak" ). "Halt!" cried Desertclaw. He ran towards the WindClan cats. "Where do you think you're going?"

'I would like to lead, or co-lead, the rescue patrol, since my pelt is white." Icestar mewed. "But we dont have a whole lot of cats with light pelts. So, should there be two rescue patrols?"

"Hmm...How about you lead the Rescue patrol to save Shadowstorm [after all, he is your Mate and Deputy]." Honeytongue replied. "And I'll help Lotus-star get WindClan out. Then my friends and I will stay behind to make sure your patrol safely escapes too."

"Ok, sounds good! Should we totally pulverize ThunderClan in the process?" Icestar asked, kneeding her claws into the powdery snow.

"No, ThunderClan itself is only guilty of being loyal to their Leader." Honeytongue calmly answered. "However, MonkeyStar should be held accounted for the harm he has done!"

"Yeah!!" screeched Tigerfern. Tigerfern stood next to Desertclaw, his fur bristled. "No moving or I shoot.... wait, no moving or I scratch!"

~ThunderClan cats-we haven't even started the attack! And I wish I saw this earlier, but I was out all day...doing...stuff.~

"Watershred is really energetic...I think she should be either on the scouting team or the attack force," Hazeldust murmured to herself. She was still listening to what the others were saying, but she was also mentally sorting out everyone else. "Sunfall could be on the attack force or the backup team-he's more reliable. Snowdapple needs to stay behind, in case any cats return with injuries. I myself will have to be on the backup team," she said resignedly.

She would've loved to sneak around a fortress, but she also had a tendency to notice things a bit too late and run off away from the group, which isn't a good idea if you're inside a fortress and you're not sure where to go. (I speak from a true experience-whenever we play manhunt or cops and robbers and I'm hiding with CheeseStar or some of my other friends, when some opposing person spots and starts running at us, my friends run away but I'm always left in the dust saying "What? Who? Where?" and then get caught. )

"Does Lotus-star know where Shadowstorm is kept? She could accompany you when the rescue team slips in, and could help you navigate around the fortress-there could be traps," Hazeldust mused.

~So, when exactly do we launch this plan? ~

Icestar nodded. "Sounds good to me. Other cats can fall in wherever they feel their talents would be most useful." Icestar swished her tail in the snow, making a wide arc surrounding her. "If this is the fort, the rescue patrol/scouting team should come around the back." Icestar pointed to the back of the 'fort' with her tail. "And the attack force should attack the front, right before the rescue patrol comes in. That way it will be too chaotic for them to notice Shadowstorm's absence. It would be better if WindClan could attack from the inside, but we would risk a high casualty rate, and we dont want that to happen. FireShadowRiverAwesomeWindClan, out!!

~Let's say on the way we all divide ourselves up, because if we don't, everyone will be on the main attack force. I think it's basically attack force, sneak team, reserve warriors. And Icestar, Honeytongue, and his friend(s) the only ones going in as the rescue team?~

The huddle of cats were marching steadily through the snow, and the tips of the IceClan fortress came into view over a large hill. "If it's going downhill from there, we'll be seen easily," Hazeldust muttered. The cold didn't make her grumpy and irritated like some of the other cats-it just made her feel like a stone. "Should we go over the plan one more time with all the cats?"

Sagedapple nudged Fireheart. "It's dawn," she meowed quietly. "We should go now to get back to the fortress at sundown."

<Alright! So we are leaving?>

Crystaldance looked skywards. As usual the sky was dark and gray with light snow falling. A chilly breeze blew ominously, hinting a storm. "Let's get a move on, before night falls," said Crystaldance. Several apprentices brought along the herbs she had prepared. She looked towards the leaders. They were ready.

"Let's go!" said Tobi cheerfully. "I'm ready to eat some ThunderClan kitties!"

Brightstar nodded. "Let's go. This way, even if we fail the first time, we can have enough time to try a second time."

~So, we're traveling, traveling, freezing out toes in the snow-let's skip all the traveling and get there already. ~

"If we try again, ThunderClan and IceClan will know our strategies," Hazeldust pointed out, feeling uncomfortable. The snow that had blown into her eyes by the wind subsided, but now the cold was still, but seeped into her bones. If we launch out attack quickly, all the fighting would help warm us up, Hazeldust thought grimly.

"I guess," Brightstar muttered. "We should go now. And quickly."
