Shadowstorm's Peril

[I was reading Halt's Peril the book and I came up with this RPG!]

Shadowstorm slid furtively through the undergrowth. He was far away from the clan area in a forest and plain area. He was sent by Icestar to pursue assassins that had nearly infiltrated the ShadowClan camp. Shadowstorm trudged along in the forest. He heard a crack and whirled around. He saw a cat and the world went black.

Shadowstorm had not returned to camp in a week.

[So SAVE ME!!!!!]

[To any clan out there other than shadowclan, you can be the helping clan or the clan that tries...to uh, eat me. No, dragonclaw, you can't eat me again .]

~Weird...because when I was writing my post, I distinctly saw he was still in ThunderClan...he must've left in the course of about 20 minutes.~

"Are we leaving?" Hazeldust looked expectantly at the leaders who were present.

While da clans worked stuff out, darkfire relaxed in the fortress. "time for some hot springs!!" said darkfire. "all i need is the females"

Brightstar nodded. "Let's move out. RiverClan, ready!" The RiverClan part of the patrol trotted to the entrance, ears pricked and tails lashing. Darkstar led her warriors after the bigger Clan.

~No penalty for god-modding I hope? Oh, fine...... I'll ask permissoin next time.~

~No prob. Just don't make a habit of it! ~

Darkstar flexed her claws. "Dawnstripe!" she called to her deputy. (temporary deputy) "Make sure all Fireclan cats don't get left behind," she ordered. "Of course," Dawnstripe meowed, dipping her head. She glanced at Redfern, her medicine cat. "Are you sure you have enough herbs?" she murmered.

~Females? Seriously, Darkfire? Is that why you ditched your mate? ~

Hazeldust heard Darkstar ask her medicine cat if she had enough herbs and fought back a slight shiver. A lot of them might get wounded, and even with the 4 medicine cat's herbs combined, it might not be enough. CheeseStar hadn't said anything, but all the cats were trotting together, all 4 clans and loners mingling. Hopefully, they could stand together, keep their own territory, and bring Shadowstorm back safely without the loss of more warriors.

Fireheart, the Thunderclan Deputy had been busy for preparations for the battle that awaits his clan. He knew there were going to be many deaths but...he still couldn't help the thought of his clanmates be slaughter. He awaited anymore tasks from Monkeystar.

~This is what I had in mind, there should actually be four different teams: Team A- is the rescue team (small and lithe cats, plus me), Team B- the scouting/ ambush patrol (gray and white cats), Team C- main attack force, and Team D- reserves (Icestar and anyone else left behind). Congrats to Fireheart in becoming ThunderClan's new Deputy!~

As the large band of clan members and loners neared the base of the mountain, Honeytongue could hear Wolves howling in the distance.

"Sounds like it's coming from ThunderClan Territory." he noted.

"Well anything that'll keep Monkeystar's warriors and attention divided is fine with me." said Kali.

"Hey Madhu." Interrupted Mangostep. "What is THAT?!"

Honeytongue gazed on over to see a Wolverine frantically trying to get at something between two giant boulders! The faint cries of a frightened wolf pup could also be heard from within.

Lotus-star padded over to Fireheart. She knew he was thoughtful. "At you at peace with Monkeystar's decision?" she asked. Lotus-star's tail twitched and her ears ruffled. She looked at Fireheart for an answer.

Crystaldance looked at Honeytounge. "Should we go forward and take a look?" she asked nervously. Crystaldance had been busy tending to Icestar (she's back and better, yay ). Luckily she had helped the other medicine cats with their preparations and such, since RiverClan, ShadowClan, FireClan, and AwesomeClan were all allies now.

Crystaldance looked at Kali. "Maybe you'll take a look?" she asked hopefully. Crystaldance wasn't particularly interested in being jostled by some big wolves.

"Maybe Blizzard, Cowboy, or Tobi," Brightstar suggested nervously.

Fireheart had thought about it. "Well, I don't think its the right decision to make because I wouldn't like to see anymore battles in the forest for a while but...I respect Monkeystar and I will follow his way and I will do anything to show my loyalty and to protect my clan!" Fireheart had replied hesitantly.

Mistbreeze glanced hesitantly at Fireheart. "I'm not sure we're doing the right thing anymore," she admitted. "The warrior code says we shouldn't kill to win. Yet here we are now with a poison ShadowClan deputy that is near death! StarClan wouldn't approve for sure."

Fireheart knew Mistbreeze was right. He couldn't agree more with any other cat here. "I understand and I agree with you Mistbreeze, I really do. But, Monkeystar is our leader and we must follow him maybe not the sake for him, but at least for our clan!" Fireheart said proudly. He knew what he said wasn't half true. Deep inside his thoughts, he didn't want to follow Monkeystar, not this way at least.

~Wait...wolverine as in female wolf trying to save her trapped cub? Or that animal that looks like a really fat weasel?~

Hazeldust heard the pitiful, terrified yaps of the trapped wolf pup. "Is it stuck?" Hazeldust asked curiously, creeping forward. "If we could lure the wolverine away, a smaller cat could slip in and grab the scruff of the pup and dart back out again," she mused. "I don't think we should help it-we've already got enough to do, without risking our lives for other animals that would normally kill us," a dark grey she-cat from another clan spoke disdainfully. "Don't go any closer, Hazeldust!" She snapped.

Watershred was with the Idea of Hazeldusts."If we help it,it can help us".

Hazeldust cocked her head at that comment. "That's true. We'll look a whole lot more terrifying if we had a couple of wolves with us. I'm pretty sure Tobi could at least semi-communicate with wolves-after all, if a tiger spoke to us, we should be able to understand it-probably." She wondered if the wolverine would attack if she came any closer. She probably looked a lot more suspicious creeping towards them than if she just trotted up to the wolverine. But then again, there was the chance that it would bite her tail off.

~Hazeldust- to answer your question 'wolverine' (also called 'Glutton' or 'Skunk-Bear') is a large member of the weasel family. Basically what's happening is: a wolf pup (from the mountains, somewhere near IceClan territory) has wondered from its den and has crossed paths with vicious Wolverine!~

Twice the temper of the Badger,
And half the strength of a Bear.
Sprays a stench that rivals Skunk,
The Wolverine, you should Beware.

This rhyme Honeytongue had learned from a raven, was now spinning in his head as everyone was talking.

"We can not risk ourselves by fighting a frontal assault at close quarters with this creature!" he warned everyone. "Even Grizzlies and Mountain Lions will give-up their prey rather than attack it!"

"Hazeldust and Watershred, those are excellent ideas! Now that I realize it,those howls we heard earlier sound familiar to me. I think I may know the pack this pup belongs to. Tobi and Cowboy, go find the wolves in ThunderClan Territory! Ask for Druid their Alpha Male, that's wolf-talk for pack Leader, and tell him what's going on. While you're there, see if you can find Icestar too."

Hazeldust nodded at Honeytongue's warning, but she really had wanted to pounce on the wolverine's back and let another cat slip in and save the pup. But since it was dangerous...and not to mention smelly, she relented.

They weren't far from the forest, and they hadn't even reached the icy tundra of IceClan's territory. With luck, they might make it to the fortress after sundown tomorrow, but then would they have enough energy to plan the attacks?

~By the way Honeytongue-I like the idea of the four-different-team thing. In real life, I would probably be suited to be in the reserve team :| I even find myself a bit boring. ~

"As for the wolf pup, I will try and get it out from those rocks. But we're going to need someone to distract the wolverine. Hazeldust, since you are clearly rearing for some action, you can work with Mangostep."

"I want to help too!" barked Speckleback.

"OK Speckleback, you can help me then. Kali and Blizzard can stay along the sidelines as well. In case the wolverine gets too close to one of us. BrightStar, make sure you keep everyone else at a safe distance."

~Hazeldust- Thanks! In real life, I would probably be in the reserve team too (or maybe the scouting/ ambush party). I'm sure you're not boring ~

Monkeystar had listened to the whole conversation. He had been hiding. He padded forward, eyeing each cat in the little circle, then padded away.

Brightstar nodded. "Alright, good ideas, Honeytongue." "Nightfrost, bring the RiverClan patrol and the ShadowClan patrol over there in the trees. Hide behind the brambles. I'll take AwesomeClan and FireClan over the other side. Make sure everyone stays!" Brightstar moved off, rounding up the two Clans and trotting with CheeseStar in front and Darkstar herding the two Clans behind.

Hazeldust's tail flicked from side to side. Distracting this wolverine would be fun. It took her mind off Shadowstorm's life ebbing near death, about IceClan who were on ThunderClan's side, and about WindClan, who normally stood neutral.

She watched Brightstar help herd the cats to a safer place. Some of them grumbled about wasting their time saving the wolf pup and possibly getting wounded...or killed by the wolverine, but Hazeldust was excited.
