Shadowstorm's Peril

[I was reading Halt's Peril the book and I came up with this RPG!]

Shadowstorm slid furtively through the undergrowth. He was far away from the clan area in a forest and plain area. He was sent by Icestar to pursue assassins that had nearly infiltrated the ShadowClan camp. Shadowstorm trudged along in the forest. He heard a crack and whirled around. He saw a cat and the world went black.

Shadowstorm had not returned to camp in a week.

[So SAVE ME!!!!!]

[To any clan out there other than shadowclan, you can be the helping clan or the clan that tries...to uh, eat me. No, dragonclaw, you can't eat me again .]

"Everything's fine!" Blossomheart announced, trotting back into the clearing. "You guys can come into camp and eat some prey."

The pray is cold for some reason.

"Hey! Hi! Ho!" cried Tobi to the other cats. He came running out through the trees and skidded to a stop in front of the cats. Suddenly his eyes widened. "AAAH that cat looks huge! He's scarier than Dragonclaw !" "I'm friendly," assured the panther. Tobi looked around at the (mostly) calm cats, and his sudden surprise melted away. "Well, Icestar is still sick and has not come out of her den. ShadowClan will stay here. The other cats should proceed, though I think you should recruit all the new loners such as Silverrain, Spottedleaf, etc. ShadowClan will follow you once our leader is ready. We will come as reinforcements. We can't all rush into battle anyway, since we should have a support force. I will come with you though, as I am the tracker."

Far away, in the snowy tower of IceClan's fortress, Starclaw gazed toward the gray sky. The snow fell perpetually here and the sky was always overcast and gray. The only changes in weather was from light snow to an all out sheer cold of a blizzard. Starclaw had not seen the stars since they had come here. He had a sinking feeling that StarClan was refusing to watch over them.

Brightstar called a few cats for a hunting patrol. "We're going back to Riverclan territory really quick. Just for some fish." The patrol streamed out of Shadowclan camp.

"CheeseStar," said Sunfall as he padded towards her. "I think I've found a solution to get into the castle. The castle is surrounded by high snowy slopes. If we can trigger an avalanche by getting to the top and disturbing all the snow that's fallen there, we can pile up enough snow to get over the top! It's not a long shot, since snow always falls there and should accumulate enough. Question is, are we big enough to get the avalanche going?"

"Easy!" Cowboy barked. "all you have to do is yowl at the top of your voices. Just be careful not to get buried." He grinned.

~Blossomheart and Tobi- Kali is a female.~

"I know a little bit about IceClan's territory", said Honeytongue to Kali, Speckleback, and some of the clan warriors and loners. "We'll be going to one of the most extreme conditions I've ever been. Speckleback, what did you and Kali bring in the bag that will help us with climbing rocky ledges, and keeping us warm?"

"Well let's see," said the little fox as she began to open up the bag to peer in. "there's some rope, sticks, and..."

"Me! Surprise Madhu!" Shouted a long-tailed monkey as it jumped from out of the sack.

"Mangostep?!" said Honeytongue in both shock and amusement.

"Hazeldust, Sunfall, those are both wonderful ideas. But I don't think trying to reason with Monkeystar is a good idea, becasue we didn't try to reason with anyone during the battle over Sunning Rocks," CheeseStar mewed. "But Sunfall, that is a pretty ambitious. Maybe if we get the help of the other clans we could try it. We've got nothing to lose anyways."

"I've brought you a present that might help make that avalanche-thingy" said Mangostep as he pulled a strange object from out of the bag.

The Clan members (and most of the other loners) had never seen anything like it before. Bright red, shaped like a small log, with a long tail-like tendril coming out from one end, and images of flying dragons on it.

"Hmm, that just might work! What a great idea Mangostep!" said Honeytongue.

"Mangostep? With a great idea!" said Kali in disbelief. "And I thought water Buffalo would grow wings before that happened."

"Then keep your head to the sky," replied Honeytongue, "because IceClan's fortress is going down with a bang!"

Curious, Sunfall padded over. He poked the extravagant looking small log. "What is it?" he queried. He gave the log a small sniff.

"It's a...well, I'm not really sure what the translation for it in cat really is, but back home we sometimes call them Fire-stars, Sky-flowers, or Dragons'-thunder. When fire touches its tail, a tiny spark starts to eat away until it goes inside the main body. Then brightly coloured stars go shooting out the other end until they burst open like flowers in bloom. At the same time, making sounds similar to eagle screeches and thunder. They're created by Twolegs who use them during times of major celebrations."

Hazeldust didn't know how all the cats gathered there suddenly, but she pitched in her thoughts anyways.

"They're created by Twolegs?" She asked curiously. "Then how'd you get by them?" But then she thought of something-

"CheeseStar-if we do succeed in getting into the castle, I think we should have a strategy, because just barging in never helped. But if we do manage to get Shadowstorm and escape, not all of us may survive. And those who do may be wounded too severely to return home. And even if we all return home safely, Monkeystar would not cease to increase his territory. It might show that we are just as strong as him, but then he'll scheme another plan to create our downfall."

~Wait, Monkeystar does want more territory, right? Because I don't know if I imagined reading that or not.~

Monkeystar felt perfectly safe in the Fortress. From here he would execute the plan to gain more territory for ThunderClan. He expected resistance, but he had a plan.

"May I make a suggestion?" Honeytongue asked. "After the fortress has been breached by the avalanche, a small team of highly skilled warriors, medicine cats, and loners should be sent to search and rescue Shadowstorm. The rest will keep the warriors from the three opposing clans distracted. But instead of fighting in the fortress, we should somehow draw them out in the open. From which we could fight them from a position that is in our favor and their disadvantage! Also, I'm still curious as to why WindClan decided to join Monkeystar? If we could learn more about Lotus-star's intentions, maybe we could somehow convince her to see otherwise. As for Monkeystar himself, let's just say I've an idea that might scare some sense into him!"

~I've just realized something, this is what ThunderClan (in the books) might have become if Thistleclaw and/ or Tigerstar were clan Leaders (instead of Bluestar and Firestar)! ~

Brightstar frowned."Perhaps Lotus-star thought that if she sided with Monkeystar and he won ShadowClan's territory, Monkeystar would respect the fact that she helped him win it and wouldn't try to take WindClan'. WindClan is weak, so they wouldn't be able to defend themselves anyway."

"That's true," Hazeldust nodded at Brightstar's suggestion. Then she turned to Honeytongue. "I also like your suggestion-most likely the small and lithe senior warriors, who would be able to slip between traps and barriers without having the strength to break through them. Having a medicine cat would be good too, like you said, and a loner could help confuse the scent."

Confusing the scent's what we need to do. Then Monkeystar will not be able to catch us and we can hopefully get home safely.

"Hmm, you're right Brightstar, that would explain WindClan's reason for joining the other two." Then Honeytongue began to ponder deeply. "But do you really think that Monkeystar is going to keep such an agreement? He may just be using Lotus-star's concern for her clan to his advantage! Once he has all the other clan territories as his own, who's going to stop him from taking over WndClan's too? Shuriken is only a frost-bitten version of that Jackal-heart! Anyways, I volunteer myself to be the loner to join the rescue team. Mangostep will be in charge of launching the Fire-star, since he's the only one experienced enough to handle it. While I would've liked Kali and Speckleback to be with me, they can also stay to help with the main force."

Hazeldust grinned (well...if cats could grin)-"Having your friends on our side would give us a better chance. We also have two dogs, and maybe we can ask one of the tiger loners to help." (Wait-we still have the tiger loners here right?)

"And what makes you think that me and my apprentice aren't just going to follow you again Madhu?" Kali suddenly said. "Whether anyone likes it or not." She gazed around at the cats, clearly making her question a challenge.

"You heard what Hazeldust said." Honeytongue answered calmly. "Small and lithe are our better choice for this party. The main focus of the mission is to get into the fortress undetected, find Shadowstorm, revive him, and get him out as swiftly and silently as we came in."

The black leopard began to stare down at the Tonkinese tom, as she spoke to him in the same manner of tone.

"In case you've forgotten little brother, I am Pyar-Kali the Panther, not Duri-Mu the Porcupine! I'm as swift as a kamikaze, and silent as shadows in the twilight hours. And Speckleback is just as small and lithe as any senior clan-cat warrior. Besides, even if Monkeystar does send most of his warriors out, how do we know he won't leave a few of his best behind?! How do you plan to fend off something like that, should the element of stealth and surprise be lost?"

Monkeystar paced impatiently in the castle. He had to wait until the clans came to him for Monkeystar to be able to launch the plan. Suddenly the door opened. A cat ran up to him and told him the clans were readying up. "Good," said Monkeystar. He wasn't sure what they were going to do, but once they would get here, it would be all downhill. Monkeystar watched the terrain from the tower window, where snow swirled violently and the skies was all but gray.

"Well in case You've forgotten big sister, I am Jatan Honeytongue, son of Devi Tigresspool and Raksha Liondance. I shall use all of my strength and the skills I've mastered to make sure that Shadowstorm's life is saved. Even if it means giving up mine to do so."

"[sigh] I know. And I would want to be there with you, so that when the time came, I could do the same first. I can't bare even the thought of losing another littermate again."

Realizing now what she was saying, Honeytongue tried to reply but couldn't find any words. The two fell silent as they both mentally shared the same memory together.
