Shattered Hope: Sequel to LAD

The Life-Givers leader is dead. The group is in chaos, each blaming another for their failure in the battle. They are breaking up, each day heralding another empty room, another person's belongings missing. People are leaving, hoping to find a way to exact revenge on the Death-Bringers, to hide from the devastating aftermath of the battle, or simply to escape from the furious accusations hurled from person to person. But still some people remain in their stronghold.

The Death-Bringers are victorious in the battle. Few had died, and almost none of the injuries were fatal. The future seemed bright for the chaos-makers. But barely two days had passed since the war when their scouts got wind of strangers knocking on the Life-Givers' fortress's door. They all wore steel gray cloaks, armed with longbows and knives. Wolves accompanied them, a couple falcons perching on their shoulders. They were dangerous. Strange. Mysterious.

The Hunters tell the Life-Givers that they come from a far land. They had traveled far and wide, and their only response to their questions were that they had to leave their home land. Hoping the Hunters would provide the remaining Life-Givers a way to get their revenge, they offered to provide room and board for the weary travelers for as long as they wished. It as accepted. The longer the Life-Givers stayed around the Hunters, the more they could see the strange differences between the two groups. After all, every Hunter was immortal.

Other: The sword Sala had used was actually Cadence's. It is one of the most valuable swords in the world, made with the best material. Cadence had been in the Life-Bringer's group a decade or so before, but she left mysteriously to join the Hunters. She had accidentally left her precious sword behind, and Sala had taken it up for her own.

Zephyra sighed. "And tell me again why the guy with the lion is so important?"

Riley nodded, tracing something in the air with her finger. "Sounds good. Maybe we could split up and attack from all four sides. Then they have nowhere to run."

Eclipse barked in agreement, but it didn't mean much to her. She was only hungry for action. She gazed at Orpheous, tail wagging. Are you as excited as I am?

Eli glared at Zephyra. "Like I'd tell you. You don't need to know the reason! The King will be livid if he dies....thays all there is to know." He had become irritable from being inside so much.

I guess. I really dont care for fighting. Orpheous replied with a sigh.

Zephyra rolled her eyes. "Whatever. With a lion I should think he won't be the easiest to hurt anyways. So are we attacking tonight?"

Riley nodded. "I think we should. Better to get it over with and won.We don't have much time back home either..."

I just hope I won't lose you, Eclipse said, worried. She buried her face in Orpheous's fur.

Viiolet watched the humans and wolves, half interested. She didn't care much for fighting either. She flapped over to Rama. Hi, what do you think?

Cadence grunted. "Why can't you keep him busy?" she snapped at Eli, her ill temper fueled by the lack of sleep and nervousness about the two wars. "So if he gets hurt, there's no one to blame but yourself." She crossed her arms over her chest, whistling a four-note ascending tune. A moment later, Majesty came fluttering down from upstairs, her talons extended to land on Cadence's shoulders. Shuffling her wings, Majesty turned her head to stare at Violet, her golden eyes unblinking.

Halt woke with a start. His sleep had been dreamless, peacful and sound. So what had woken him? He propped himself up on one elbow and looked around, his gaze finally falling on two glowing yellow orbs of light staring right back at him. "Lucifer." There was a deep-chested rumble in response to his master's soft voice. Halt sat completely up and rubbed his eyes, glacing at the clock. It was only 3:38 am. He had only been asleep for four hours. Halt leaned over and turned on the lamp, the sudden light casting the hard angles of his face into deep shadows. Lucifer blinked rapidly, staring at Halt in puzzlement. The Death-Bringers leader ignored him and opened the door to his room. It was much cooler outside in the hallways, and Halt immediately regretted forgetting to put a shirt on before he got up to see if Baylee was awake.

Jack walked into a room where he heard voices in the wind he reached the room where Cadence and Ryder where. He entered and greeted them, Mlari followed, his tail wagging. The wolf spotted Orpheus and looked at his master.Jack nodded and then turned looking at the girls "What did I miss?" He asked them.

Mlari sat with the other wolves What's going on? he asked the two wolves.

~wait, where did Miari come from? O.o does Jack have a pet or something? ~

"Well, if the king gets even more enraged than his current state, we'd die anyway, so we have no choice but to help you, hm?" Ryder said with a neutral expression. "It'd be too much of a chore to tell everyone to keep away. Since he won't be able to see you anyway, why don't you trap him or something? Chain the lion. This boy is your Death-Bringer brother, right? You've mentioned that before."

~Jake's pet's gonna be a Grey hound (female; brown) named Mari (pronounced "moree" [Smosh peoplez, you know how it's pronounced X3]) :3~

Jake ran through the trees swiftly, Mari by his side. He loved to run, since his power was incredible speed. He jumped and grabbed a branch, then flipped on it, then let go and started running again. He jumped over a rock, then stopped. He looked through a bush, to see the rest of the Life-Bringers. He and Mari walked up to them, and Jake said, "There you are! Mari ran off again." He looked at Mari, and asked, "So what's the plan?"

Faith randomly started barking at a wall. Amber woke up, and snapped, "Shut it, Faith! You're gonna wake everyone up!" Faith stopped, then looked at Amber apologetically. She jumped up on the bed and laid beside Amber, and they both fell back asleep.

Eli nodded. "Yeah." Was all he said before falling into silence. His messy black hair covered his eyes.

Orpheous nuzzled Eclipse Dont worry. I'll be fine....Im more worried for you. looking to the stranger wolf who had appeared, he sniffed him politely. nothing much. Getting ready for battle. AThe names Orpheous by the way.

Rama blinked. He'd never really given it much thought. I get worried about Eli and Orpheous, but I suppose its not so bad. he answered Violet.

Baylee trudged out of her room with all black on and a sad expression in her features. Her hair was in a curly bun and a few strands had come loose. She looked like a wreck and had obviously been crying. Sniffling, Halt looked up to see Halt and plastered a small fake smile on her lips.

Frustrated with their lack of progress, Cadence muttered something inaudible under her breath and shifted her weight to her right leg. "Anything else important? Otherwise we should all go."

We won't be in the fight really at all anyways, Majesty said, ruffling her feathers. We act as peripherals and scouts. I guess the most we can do is keep watch and act as diversions.

Halt frowned. "What's wrong?" he asked quietly, his bare feet making no sound on the chilly hardwood planks as he slid his arms around Baylee's waist. "Something bothering you?" He tugged her closer, pulling her into a hug.

Tenebris yawned, trotting back into the room when he heard Cadence whistle. It wasn't to call him exactly, but he was curious. The tension in the room was so thick, he could almost taste it when he entered. Tenebris padded over to Cadence and nosed her leg, his bushy tail sweeping back and forth as he glanced at the others briefly.

~Who are you talking to....? And plan for what? The attack?~

"Life-Givers, your job is to closely guard all possible entrances/exits. Make sure they don't get far away from the fortress if they push you back," Ryder explained. "Once we get into the woods, no talking or bathroom breaks. If you need to go, go now and if you have questions, ask now."

"The plan? We attack tonight, if everyone else agrees," Riley answered him. "And we go decapitate some Death-Bringers."

We could put our diving to good use in the battle, Violet noted, thinking like the strategist she was. At terminal velocity, those evil humans better watch their heads.

Hi Mari! Eclipse greeted the dog. Are you nervous about the battle?

Majesty slid a look at Violet. That would be great, she answered dryly, if we could gain altitude and speed as fast as we could dive, and avoid the swords, battleaxes and whatnot the humans wave around in the air all the time. And, hitting a human head at terminal velocity will probably break our necks.

Cadence shrugged. "Ryder said in two days," she said, emphazing the number, "but if everyone wants to go now, what can we do? All I say is that I'm getting some coffee first."

Violet shrugged. Well at least we could pull out at the last moment and drag them by their hair. Though if they were wearing protection plates [armor]... Her voice trailed off thoughtfully as the falcon stared absently at the wall.

"When we get there, just get into position. We'll send Riley inside and she'll start us off from there. Someone is bound to notice her if she turns human again. Try to find the leader. The Life-Givers know how he looks like," Ryder added. "We'll have to try and get there as fast as possible. The attack may last a while, and we should do it at night if we can." My power is also darkness, she thought.

"So... as a fly or something again?" It was rhetorical. Riley could do it. "What does this leader look like?"

It was Zephyra who answered. "He's a rather small man in his twenties, with long black hair and piercing gray eyes. You'll know him when you see him, because he seems to emit an air of leadership, confidence, and strictness. I don't like him, I wouldn't want to work under him," she added softly.

~Pfft, mean to Halt? D': Lol jk xD~

Majesty blinked, shuffling again. We hardly have the strength to pull them along, but as I pointed out before, we could yank on their hair to distract them. Swooping past suddenly would be just as effective.

"He's the leader of the group that killed your sister," Cadence pointed out bluntly. "Of course you'd dislike him. He'd hardly be your best friend." She leaned back and shrugged. "So we attack tonight? Wonderful." The Hunter had alread packed all her gear early, out of habit. Cadence's bow had been checked over, her three dozen arrows carefully packed in her quiver. They lay along with her sword in its forest green sheath and her kit of extra weapons including brass strikers, a couple knives, and other necessities. "We're setting up base a mile and a half from the fortress right?"

Ryder nodded. "Only come back to base if you need more arrows or a replacement weapon. If anyone has serious injuries, go there. We can't let the Death-Bringers find it just in case they decide to use some of our things against us. Xurxo will help heal any minor injuries. Minor as in you can still fight," Ruder concluded.

"Great plan. Shall we head out now?" Riley was nervous and impatient. She just wanted to get it over with - both of the wars.

"I think we should, before they realize what we're planning," Zephyra agreed. "Everyone, go get yourselves ready. Don't forget the helmets. Be sure to find some protection for the wolves and falcons too."

Riley nodded and went to strap the special armor around Violet. It was light so she could still fly (her wings were left uncovered), and soft enough to not be uncomfortable, but hard enough to block arrows.
Eclipse wore no armor. Riley was sure she could take care of herself. And it seemed like she had Orpheous at her back, too.

Xurxo scrambled into the meeting room, his violin case askew across his back. "Hey guys," he muttered, hoping he didn't miss too much. "Haven't been feeling so well, but I've seemed to have recovered alright," he said, slight embarrassed. He nodded at Ryder, "I'll be around to heal, so call out or something to let me know..." He noticed members strapping on armor, as he walked over to Zephyra, slipping his hand quietly into hers. "You better get on some armor..." he advised. "I'll go without, since it'll probably only make me slower..."

"Alright. Seems easy enough." Jake sighed. The Death Givers took his sister and killed her, and she was only 9. Rage flared in his eyes, then he calmed down.

Yeah... But, I'm fast, I can probably get away though. Mari replied. She laid down and rested her head on her paws.

Eli and Orpheous wore no armor as well as Rama. They walked out side with Eli thinking deeply. He wondered how this would go down. Would he finally meet Jonah. Looking up, he willed the clouds to move over the sun and back just as a tester of his skill and smiled when it worked.

Baylee cleared her throat and trembled as if she were about to shatter into pieces in Halt's arms. "I-I miss Khalid...." she didnt mention Jonah though he was partly the reason for her tears.

Ryder slipped on a breastplate and thick leather gloves which concealed a pocket knife. Slinging her loaded quiver over her back, she waited at the top of the hill.
"We'll move in two separate groups, so we're less likely to be seen," she instructed. "The first group will be the Hunters and Eli, lead by myself and my lieutenant (just wanted to use the word :'D). The second group will be the Life-Givers, lead by Zephyra and Xurxo." She began to descend, her long braid barely moving as she scurried on.

Cadence wore only an arm guard, gauntlets, and her weapons. She had discarded the cloak she usually wore in case it got in the way. Her bow was already strung, slung over her shoulder. "Sounds good," she muttered. Cadence had outfitted Majesty with the same light-weight armor as Violet, although Tenebris stayed free. He hated the confining metal plates for one thing, and couldn't stand fighting with them on and restricting his movements.

Halt sighed, his warm breath huffing out as he leaned closer to comfort Baylee. "We could get another pet for you," he murmured, not quite sure what to say. "Cheer up."
