Shattered Hope: Sequel to LAD

The Life-Givers leader is dead. The group is in chaos, each blaming another for their failure in the battle. They are breaking up, each day heralding another empty room, another person's belongings missing. People are leaving, hoping to find a way to exact revenge on the Death-Bringers, to hide from the devastating aftermath of the battle, or simply to escape from the furious accusations hurled from person to person. But still some people remain in their stronghold.

The Death-Bringers are victorious in the battle. Few had died, and almost none of the injuries were fatal. The future seemed bright for the chaos-makers. But barely two days had passed since the war when their scouts got wind of strangers knocking on the Life-Givers' fortress's door. They all wore steel gray cloaks, armed with longbows and knives. Wolves accompanied them, a couple falcons perching on their shoulders. They were dangerous. Strange. Mysterious.

The Hunters tell the Life-Givers that they come from a far land. They had traveled far and wide, and their only response to their questions were that they had to leave their home land. Hoping the Hunters would provide the remaining Life-Givers a way to get their revenge, they offered to provide room and board for the weary travelers for as long as they wished. It as accepted. The longer the Life-Givers stayed around the Hunters, the more they could see the strange differences between the two groups. After all, every Hunter was immortal.

She is more friendly and trusting then her friends, although she is very observant and can come down harsh when the need arises.

Other: The sword Sala had used was actually Cadence's. It is one of the most valuable swords in the world, made with the best material. Cadence had been in the Life-Bringer's group a decade or so before, but she left mysteriously to join the Hunters. She had accidentally left her precious sword behind, and Sala had taken it up for her own.

~I just realized... if the Hunters got their wolves when they were 3 or whatever, Eclipse can't be 2 years old O.o~

Seeing the closeness between Eclipse and Orpheous, Riley's eyebrows met and she tugged Eclipse. "Get over here." Eclipse cast a look that was half bored, half longing at Orpheous as she was dragged toward Riley. "And I saw that," Riley muttered. She couldn't afford to have her wolf looking for a mate, not now when TWO huge wars were in the extremely near future.

"Well, either way, we should attack the Death-Bringers fortress as soon as possible," Ryder continued. "We have been training for a while now, and I think most of the Life-Givers are still fresh with energy from the previous battle. So, I say we leave at dusk within two days of today."

"You could get her spayed," Cadence told Riley absently. "I think that's what they did to the Queen's dog." Rubbing the back of her neck, she turned slightly to Ryder and added her agreement. "I don't like waiting here like a sitting duck for much longer. Who knows what's happening back at our homeland, and waiting longer will just give more time for the Death-Bringeers to possibley find out about the upcoming attack." She fingered her sword and glanced around. Tenebris was nowhere to be seen, and she knew Majesty was probably asleep upstairs. Ten is feeling awfully sulky today, Cadence mused.

Eli clenched his jaw at the thought of attacking the group his brother resided in but kept his mouth shut. He now stood beside Orpheous and stroked his silky head absently. "Hmmm......." a gaze outside showed him that the skys were beautiful and clear. He smirked and tugged his hoodie off. He was getting nervous in this room. "I'm gonna go take a walk..." he muttered, practically running out of the room. Orpheous whimpered and followed his master with worry in his eyes. Once he reached the familiar form of Eli, the putrid stench of puke assaulted his sensitive nose. Eli had always been this way. He got nervous enough to squirrel when in tight spaces or any room at all for too long. It was from a childhood being hidden in closets and such during festivals at the castle. A sort of major trauma you could say.

Eclipse whimpered at the mention of being spayed. "I coulsn't," Riley said, gazingat her wolf fondly. Zephyra snorted softly. Riley spoiled that wolf too much, she thought. She turned to Ryder. "Yes, I agree with Cadence. We'll get too nervous if we wait too long. It's best to do it early"

Eli spit in disgust, trying to get the rotten taste from his mouth then trudged back inside after sitting a a tree for a few moments. Sitting by tye door with his head on his knees, Eli lostened closely to the Hunters' words. "I could create a storm to make an advantage. If they're in darkness, we have an advantage with wolves who can see at night. Plus, we all have training in blind fighting....right?" Eli spoke up softly. He was going through a list of possibilities and found this one to sound pretty darn good.

"That sounds pretty good," Cadence admitted. "I think all of the Hunters here have been trained in blind fighting.. I don't think we covered much in blind fighting with the Life Givers though." She thought back, racking her brain for any memory that they had trained for situations like this. "We practiced with blindfolds once," the Hunter said. "They were thin enough to allow only minimal visiblity, and I had the wolves making a racket in the background to provide a semi realistic situation." Cadence shrugged, and looked at her hands, inspecting the cut she had received yesterday. "My power is power augmentation and negation... I can boost your storm strength if necessary."

Zephyra nodded thoughtfully. "It's a good idea. We'd have the advantage of surprise, too. Until we attack, we should train as much as we can." She stood up, ready to return to her room. "Is that all?"

Riley leaned forward. "Wait. What about the coin? I just have a feeling we should figure it out by the battle."

~What does it even do?~

Ryder sighed. "My power is darkness. I'd have an advantage there, too. As for the gold coin, I don't there's anyone around here who knows what it is. If we have books, or possibly field guides, we could find out. Either that or we'd have to walk to town and go to the library."

"Alagaesia (that's what I'm calling the Hunter's homeland because I don't have any other idea...) has a great library," Cadence pointed out. "It's huge, and there's no doubt that somewhere, there'd be a big book about magical golden coins. Couldn't we figure out the mystery of this later? We have a battle to fight...."

~A lot of the Death-Bringers have become inactive, and I thinking of sending everyone who joined this RP a PM reminding them that the final battle is coming. What do you guys think? ~

"Alright then, we should plan the attack," Ryder said. "Since it's late, though, we should all rest."

Riley nodded reluctantly. Eclipse began inching toward Orpheous when Riley was looking away. She licked his fur. Finally Riley glanced her way and sighed. "Be that way..."

Zephyra nodded. "I don't see how a gold coin could be important... Let's get some rest now, shall we?" Of course, she hadn't held the coin so she didn't know. Zephyra got up tiredly.

Eli stood quickly and whistled a soft tune that meant Orpheous needed to follow. The large black brute licked Eclipse's cheek affectionately and trotted after Eli. Once outside, Eli practicallt collapsed under a large oak tree and fell asleep. Orpheous laid beside him with Rama perched in a tree above them.

~Hey Maple, you were right earlier about it being like Jason's sword. But it only works for the first person who flips it, so can we pretend that Riley never flipped it earlier, since I want it to be Olivia's weapon. Also, I was thinking that the image on the coin can change, and whatever weapon is on the coin, is the weapon it changes in to, but the image changes randomly, so no one has any control over what weapon it changes to. Also, Olivia will flip it for the first time during the battle~

Olivia remembered the map that Swoop had made for her. "I almost forgot" she said, as she pulled it out, "Swoop made a map of the Death Bringer's Fortress." She handed it to Ryder.

~Can Cadence help heal Cassandra? ~

~If the coin did that I think it would be too powerful... But wait, is it a kind of a lightning weapon? And sure, Stream. But we need Xurxo.~

~Maybe it can only be used once, or something. It will change into what you need most during the time you flip it, and then it disappears in some cool way afterwards :O Stealing some Inuyasha ideas ~

Ryder took a look at the map. (making this up) She saw that there were a few windows along the upper level on the east side. There was also a fire exit on a small balcony with an iron door. However, the ladder was folded up. "Did anyone manage to get inside?" she asked as everyone started to walk away. "I'd like to know where these doors and windows lead to."

~I'm not sure exactly how powerful Jason's sword is, since I'm only near the beggining of the Lost Hero. The weapons the coin changes into wouldn't be super powerful, only a little more powerful than a normal weapon. Ex: The sword would be harder than a normal sword, a bow would be easier to aim, a knife could be sharper than a normal knife. It's not a lightning weapon. Is this okay Bright?~

~yayz I guessed it Streamfur in the book, Jason's sword is a gold coin that can be flipped into a sword or a lance. Lol it would be so ironic if Xurxo got the weapon because Jadefrost's real name is :O~

"Me," Riley said. "It was fun being a mosquito. I think that goes up to the top of the fortress where they can place archers."

"Well you guys can tell me what you figured out tomorrow," Zephyra yawned. She headed toward her room. On the way, she paused hopefully at Xurxo's door but heard nothing. She sighed and continued on to her wonderfully soft bed.

Primary Power: Incredible speed; not too fast, but like an Olympic track runner (about 25-30 MPH, I believe :3)

Cadence thought quickly and suggested, "I've always been a strong climber. Since these fortresses are made of stone, the wall should be covered with nicks and footholds I could use. If someone covered me, stopped Death-Bringers from shooting me down or following me up, I could take a bow and stand up there. I'm a pretty good shot."

"Yes. So, Cadence, you will be up there. Make sure you seal the door. I think it's a good idea for Riley to get inside and attack from inside to outside," Ryder began. Then, she took a deep breath and continued. Kiba..... if he doesn't come back, we'll have to make up for him. Since Eli can control weather, I think he should be somewhere high up, where no one can see him. It's dangerous if he's killed, because then the king will really hate our guts. Olivia, you can lead a group of archers and surround them so if they come out, you can have a far-range attack to startle them. The Life-Givers can help with that, but since most of them fight melee, they should stand right outside the entrances/exits. Sound good? Any suggestions?"

Eli leaned against a far wall, nodding thoughtfully. "Uh anyone who sees a guy using lightning and has a lion as a pet, capture him and do NOT kill him." He requested. Orpheous sat near his owner with Rama on his broad shoulder. Hopefully Eli could at least save his twin with the limited knowledge he had of him.

Cadence slid him a look of slight annoyance. "That'll be kind of hard," she stated, "if we're trying not to kill him, and he's trying his best to electrocute us and have his lion maul everyone around him. The only way we can effectively capture someone without giving him a long-lasting wound is to have someone engage him in a fight, then another person sneak up on him as quickly as possible and knock him out. Which may be extremely difficult do to the fact that his lion will be probably guarding his back."
