Windclan RP

Birdflight rolled her eyes at the tom's remark and mewed, "The hunt was actually quite... worrying. Iceflight and I found a scrawny rabbit each while poor Crowfrost couldn't find any. To be honest, I'm getting nervous." She admitted her golden eyes shining with worry for her clan's safety.

"Whats wrong? Is the food gonna dissapear? Are we gonna starve to death? What are we gonna eat?" Rainkit stared questioning worriedly. She started racing around camp "WERE ALL GONNA DIE! WERE GONNA RUN OUT OF FOOD!" She screamed hysterically.

"Woah, woah, woah," He meowed, quickly scooping up Rainkit before she slipped on any ice. "We're gonna be fine. Just look at the fresh kill pile! It's not empty." He meowed reassuringly, putting down the kit by Wintershadow gently. Yet... He thought worryingly. "You have a good reason to..." He meowed, padding back over to Birdflight. "I can't see any rabbits unless they're searching for food." Windystorm frowned slightly.

Birdflight eyes widened as she watched the young kit race around the camp and fortunately Rainkit was quickly scooped up by Windystorm. "Thank you Windystorm." She mewed relief in her mew. "Well, I guess we'll have to catch them while they are searching for food. Which reminds me, patrols are starting to get back and I should make hunting patrols for the group of cats who weren't attending patrols." She mewed half to herself. "Also, next time we talk about the clan, maybe we should talk away from the nursery in case the kits start getting worried like we just witnessed." Birdflight added purring in amusement.

"We wouldn't want that, would we?" He chuckled, flicking an ear. "At least the snow's pretty." Windystorm shrugged, glancing up at a snowflake falling not far from his whiskers. It had started to snow. Lightly, luckily.

"We don't just hunt rabbits! There are also birds, ya know! They leave for the winter, but there are some that stay because they can live with the snow!" Gingerblaze said, trying to lighten the mood. "I know how to hunt squirrels and stuff, being in MoonClan, but you guys don't like those, do you?" Her bright green eyes were still happy, but not nearly as usual.

"Squirrel? Whats a squirrel? Can I eat a squirrel?" Rainkit started up again. She was soon playing with a leaf that she named Leafcrackle.

Wintershadow piped up, "I know how to hunt big birds, along with Tigerlily, Grasswhisker, and Sunfire. We live half of our apprentice-hood in the Tribe before we were driven out, I think we will be alright. Not all of us just hunt rabbits. We can hunt other things too." Tigerlily nodded, and Grasswhisker and Sunfire smiled back.

(Its leaf-bare, Honeyleaf just died. Her kits are about 5 moons. Prey is really scarce)

Dawnstorm was dozing nearby, sprawled out as white snow piled up. She emitted an annoyed stomach growl and shot up. "That's it!" she raged, and ran out of camp to go hunt.

Birdflight felt somewhat offended by her clan mates saying they knew how hunt other types of prey because of the clan or tribe they were at before. WindClan knows how to hunt other types of prey! She thought fiercely, yet she controlled her fierce and loyal emotions quickly and mewed calmly yet defensively, "My mentor Oakshadow taught me how to hunt every type of prey so I'm able to adapt pretty easily. Just because we excel in hunting rabbits doesn't mean that is the only thing we can hunt. I even know how to fish thanks to Sun-" She stopped herself quickly and began to blush fiercely. Birdflight quickly tried hiding her face by staring intently down at her dainty paws. I almost said Sunbeam! If I said his full name, everyone would have known! Well, they will learn eventually but, this isn't the right time! Her thoughts whirled and her mind was flooded with thoughts of the handsome flaming ginger tom. "Er, I mean... I-I should talk to Honeystar later and suggest that we make a new rule that requires every cat to learn how to hunt almost every type of prey. That way we will be prepared for anything." Birdflight mewed quickly still blushing and embarrassed. Please StarClan don't let them notice! She thought sending a silent prayer to StarClan as panic began to well up inside her.

Windystorm flicked an ear towards Gingerblaze and the others. "I know how to catch lots of things," He meowed, shrugging. "Viper and Browntail taught me well enough. Granted, I was a stubborn apprentice... Anyway, during The Journey, don't you remember that there were always snakes and these tiny owls back in the desert? We didn't eat the snakes, but the owl tasted like Thunderclan prey. Er, not that I would know... It's a bird." Windystorm hid a mischievous smile. He remembered that he had failed to learn the clan boundaries correctly because he had never listened to Browntail. Many times, he had crossed the Thunderclan border, even once as a kit. He paused before speaking, glancing at Birdfeather. Sun...? "But even if we know how to catch other things, how will that help us if the river's about to freeze over and the birds are already flying away. The only ones that stay are the stupid ones, and hawks and owls are rare as it is, not to mention dangerous. They're heavier than we are, and we're naturally the lightest clan on our paws. Dragging them down tribe-style would take serious power or a lot of cats. If we make any mistakes, we'll lose some of our clanmates." Windystorm curled his tail around his paws, a habit he had when he was thinking. "Riverclan is really protective of fish, even if the river's almost useless to them and we're on our side of the border... Besides, when the water freezes over, we won't have anything left... Starclan, what am I ruining our chances for?" He sighed, shaking his head. He should be thinking of ways to help the clan, not how they'd fail if they tried to get food! Suddenly, his eyes brightened as a thought came to mind. "We'll... bring back some old hunting techniques. Tunneling for the rabbits since they're always underground and... those baiting techniques. Uh, nuts, poppy seeds, and those other things. We could put some out on the snow or something and try to lure them out of hiding. They almost always come out for food."

Birdflight looked up to see that mostly no one noticed her mistake except Windystorm who eyed her slightly. Thank StarClan "Those are great ideas, we could bring back tunneling like back in the stories. We can ask the elders about it and I can go to Moonpool and visit StarClan about tunneling so we can start teaching the clan. Also the bait idea is great and we can use berries and nuts like Windystorm said." She mewed flicking her tail in the direction of the tom.

Dawnstorm quickly hurried back with 2 juicy rabbits and proudly placed them in a pile, thus starting a fresh-kill pile. She turned to all the arguing cats and padded over, hearing enough of the conversation to know whats going on. "I like Windystorm's idea," she mewed, looking at all the debating cats. "But berries and nuts are just as scarce as fresh-kill. Perhaps we need to...." she stopped and stamped her foot as if to send ideas flying into the air. As the idea flowed, she looked up at the cats seriously. "Take our remaining food into risk." She mewed it softly but firmly. Was the clan really going to put our only chance of survival in the wake? If the plan didn't work, they would be at the mercy of the other clans. She shrunk down. She was regretting the moment when Windystorm said this idea.

Birdflight nodded approvingly as Dawnstorm padded into camp with two juicy rabbits. "Whatever happens we will not, and I repeat we will not go to the other clans asking for food and we will certainly not steal any. If any of you steal their prey there will be huge consequences." She snarled her fierce personality flaring. It was silent for a moment and she sighed, "Sorry, I'm stressed out but on our side of the border we have a small portion of forest. We can use that to find some prey and we can collect berries and nuts there." She insisted turning to the others. "I have some clue on how to tunnel and all the rabbits are burrowed so if we set up tunneling we can catch some rabbits." Birdflight added.
(Btw I checked on the official map and we have some trees in our territory because of ThunderClan who is our neighbor :3 Just saying )

Dawnstorm lunged in. "But, Birdflight, it's dangerous! You know how ThunderClan is. They think every cat who comes on the border is an 'intruder'," she said hoarsly, her voice straining.

"These are good ideas," Sagedapple meowed. "But I'll have to show the apprentices which berries they can use, and which ones they can't." Her amber eyes slid to Birdflight. "Juniper, for example. There's none to harvest in leaf-bare. Poppy seeds too. They come from flowers, and nothing that fragile will survive in the frost. But I have some seeds and nuts that have no medical value. We can use that as bait." Sagedapple blinked wistfully as she thought back to the days moons and moons ago, when she used to sneak out of camp at night to the ThunderClan border. Just to see Fireheart.

Birdflight smiled gratefully to Sagedapple. "Great, we'll use the seeds and nuts with no medical value and we'll save our important herbs." She pricked her ears turning to Dawnstorm. "Yes, it will be dangerous but we won't be right on their border. A small portion of trees is on our territory, so they have no right to accuse us for trespassing since we'll be on our territory the entire time. Just because we get close to their border doesn't mean we're trespassing and we won't harm them in any way. All we want is bait for the rabbits." Birdflight mewed evenly. ThunderClan can start drama for no reason sometimes. Just because we get close to a border doesn't mean we're trespassing. She thought irritably.

"What about Tribal techniques? Some of us came from the Tribe of Falling Darkness. Me and my siblings can all drag a hawk or eagle. We were taught when apprentices, before we came here, when hawks and eagles come out during the day or night, so we can hunt around then. And even if you lose one of us, it's for my clan, and I'm proud of that." Tigerlily meowed, and her siblings nodded their heads in agreement except for Sunfire, who just smiled.

Windystorm beamed and looked back at Sagedapple. "Yeah, beech nuts, right? Or the leaves?" He meowed, shrugging. "I know that some squirrels or birds stay in the trees. We'll have to practice climbing to reach them though to avoid wasting berries to lure them to the ground." He glanced at Tigerlily. "You could try, but don't consider yourselves dead yet. Windclan doesn't sacrifice its warriors. Make sure to be careful." Windystorm's eyes set on Sunfire for a brief moment. Maybe Birdflight meant Sunfire...? He thought, his curiosity growing. Why am I dragging on over this? It's not important. Windystorm shook the thought away, snorting. "Hopefully Thunderclan won't claim rights to every squirrel in the forest."

"Wait! Tigerlily's gonna die? No she can't! Who's gonna be my foster aunt then?" Rainkit started crying. She didn't want anyone else to die!

Windystorm's whiskers twitched slightly. "No one's going to die. Calm down. Tigerlily's a really talented hunter, Rainkit. Maybe you'll even get to try your own hawk when she manages to find one." He purred reassuringly at the kit. I've never eaten hawk... Wonder what it tastes like.

"Yes! Instead of Hawk eating Kit, kit eats Hawk!" Rainkit declared parading around camp.

Riverkit had been silent during this whole conversation. "When are we going to become apprentices?" She asked. They were six moons.

Dawnstorm beamed. "I'm an amazing climber and hunter!" she said, and looked at the others. "I could teach you guys to climb. But about the squirrel thing, I think ThunderClan is desperate enough to blame us for hunting on our own territory," she added, first beaming and then snorting.
