Shattered Hope: Sequel to LAD

The Life-Givers leader is dead. The group is in chaos, each blaming another for their failure in the battle. They are breaking up, each day heralding another empty room, another person's belongings missing. People are leaving, hoping to find a way to exact revenge on the Death-Bringers, to hide from the devastating aftermath of the battle, or simply to escape from the furious accusations hurled from person to person. But still some people remain in their stronghold.

The Death-Bringers are victorious in the battle. Few had died, and almost none of the injuries were fatal. The future seemed bright for the chaos-makers. But barely two days had passed since the war when their scouts got wind of strangers knocking on the Life-Givers' fortress's door. They all wore steel gray cloaks, armed with longbows and knives. Wolves accompanied them, a couple falcons perching on their shoulders. They were dangerous. Strange. Mysterious.

The Hunters tell the Life-Givers that they come from a far land. They had traveled far and wide, and their only response to their questions were that they had to leave their home land. Hoping the Hunters would provide the remaining Life-Givers a way to get their revenge, they offered to provide room and board for the weary travelers for as long as they wished. It as accepted. The longer the Life-Givers stayed around the Hunters, the more they could see the strange differences between the two groups. After all, every Hunter was immortal.

He emits a quiet aura of power, although he hardly smiles, and a smile that contains actual humor is even rarer. Surprisingly strong, he is agile and fast on his feet. Sardonic and cynical, he has a deep vein of dry humor in him despite his outward appearance of seriousness and dangerousness. Around mid-twenties in age.

She is more friendly and trusting then her friends, although she is very observant and can come down harsh when the need arises.

Other: The sword Sala had used was actually Cadence's. It is one of the most valuable swords in the world, made with the best material. Cadence had been in the Life-Bringer's group a decade or so before, but she left mysteriously to join the Hunters. She had accidentally left her precious sword behind, and Sala had taken it up for her own.

Cadence frowned, unable to help but say, "You just got here." Her voice was only just loud enough to be heard by the disappearing figure. "Shouldn't you at least introduce yourself?" She tilted her head, puzzled by his behavior. Obviously this stranger wanted to get to know them. So why walk away when the people you had been following for days is standing right in front of you? Unless... Cadence's frowned deepened. Unless he was fighting agains the rebels.

Eli turned around to look at who was speaking to him. "I'm not real sure theres much to introduce. I was just gonna look around....check things out." He shrugged, steely eyes piercing through Candence's. "If your curious about something, just ask and I'll tell you." He finished.

Cadence paused before she spoke, her green eyes both wary and curious. "What's your name? Why did you follow us?" Those were the foremost questions she wanted answered, although hundreds more questions were flashing through her mind. Where did you learn stealth and tracking? How did you come by Hunter equipment? Where did you get your wolf and bird? Those are animal companions for Hunters only...

Eli smirked. "'Cept for that first question. I followed you to help defeat the Royalty. Anything else?" He yawned, closing his eyes as the warm wind rufgled his slightly curly locks.

Ryder narrowed her eyes. She was suspicious that he could be a spy from Royalty. But if he was, wouldn't he want to stay at the fortress with them so he could keep tabs on their progress? He hadn't found out about the Life-Givers helping them, either. "You don't seem to be very enthusiastic... If you're really telling the truth, why don't you stay here? Aren't you a Hunter if you were going to come with us in the first place?"

Eli sighed. "I like nature. Buildings are suffocating and hard to get out of.in a bad situation. So, I like staying outside most of the time. I am just tired. Ill be around...if you look." He chuckled.and went on his way, leaving Orpheous but taking Rama.

Cadence scowled. "Bloody hard to get anything out of him," she muttered. "We don't even know his name after he stalked us across the globe." The Hunter snapped her fingers at Tenebris, who was staring at Orpheous with his hackles raised. Obviously he didn't like another male wolf intruding upon what he considered his territory. Tenebris moved his head slightly to look at Cadence, but he didn't move, his paws planted firmly in the stubby grass. She sighed and looked at Ryder. "Well, the next few weeks should be full of suprises," Cadence commented dryly.

Riley handed everyone a hot chocolate with coffee for herself. "Okay, so here it is," she began, settling on the couch. Through one eye she watched Eclipse have an animated discussion with the big wolf, Orpheous. "It was all going fine until we went to the big river in the woods. Then this random blond girl appeared and I have no idea what happened, but it seems Kia ran off with her. Sent Violet to give her a couple of scratches, but I didn't kill her. I guess I was just paranoid in the night..." Riley continued to relate the story. At the end, she produced a sheet of paper and sketched out the layout of the fortress.

Eli had debated going inside and had slipped in at the last moment. He stood nest to the door with his hood still up, looking bored.

Orpheous had amusement written across his face as he watched Eclipse talk. He answered politely and quite energetically as well if he did say so himself. His pale yellow eyes would drift warily to Tenebris every so often with a dangerous look that meant he was one that shouldn't be messed with.

Olivia had sipped her hot chocolate as Riley told them about their mission. After she finished, Olivia added, "After we crossed the river, I found this strange gold coin." She held it out for the others to see. There was something special about it, but she didn't know what.

Blaze barked a greeting to Orpheous. He hadn't met this wolf before, but the other wolves were talking to him, so he guessed that he was a friend.

"Right!" Riley said, remembering. "Did you ever figure it out while I was scouting?" She studied the gold coin curiously. It had some Roman numeralswritten across its head.

(Mind if Eli answers? Or did you have something in mind for it to be? I was thinking royal currency.)

@ Maplestream His parents were Death bringer spies, but tom didn't know this. A mob angry at the death bringers burned down the house, therefore killing his family.

"There are Roman numerals," Riley observed. "I think it must be really old or something... Olivia, did you ever find out what was special about it?"

Eclipse geeted Blaze with a happy woof. Wasn't the crossing the river with Riley fun? she panted, excited. Violet, perched on the couch, rustled her feathers. Flying by herself was better, Violet decided.

Ryder knit her eyebrows. "So Kiba disappeared.... Chasing a girl?" she asked again, not wanting to believe it. "Well, I trust he'll be back. Anyway, this gold coin... To be made of gold, it must have come from somewhere or someone with a lot of money. I can't help but see something familiar in it." She sipped her hot chocolate.

~I have something in mind for the coin, but no one knows yet(in the rp). You'll find out whenever theres a battle. Bright already knows what the coin does. Its not royal currency.~

"I'm still not sure what it is." Olivia said, "Its larger than a regular gold coin, and it feels strange when I hold it, as if theres some sort of enery radiating off of it." She looked closer and saw a picture of a sword engraved on it. "Hey look at this" she said, pointing to the sword.

Blaze barked Yeah that was so much fun! in reply to Eclipes. It was also fun jumping into the moss on the other side!

Orpheous rumbled a laugh at the pup. He was so full of energy! He could learn to like him.

Eli thought abot the coin and walked over to Olivia with a frown. "Let me hold it please." His eyes looked troubled. It looked all too familiar to him as well but he just put his finger on what it was.

Jack drew a hand through his clean hair. He decided to go on a Zephyra hunt. He wanted to talk to her, yet he wasn't sure where she was. He walked through the halls with all the winds blowing toward him so he could maybe pick up the sound of her vioce.

(Sorry DX) Titus grinned. "Because I thouht you'd like it here."

"I do! It's amazing Titus!" she grinned back and looked at him "So, what's new with you Titus?" she asked him

Titus had a mischevious glimmer in his eyes. "Well, I've come to like this girl...but I'm not too sure how to tell her."

"Oh, really?" her eyes glimmered "What is this girl like? I may be able to help." she said mischeviously.

Zephyra could hear footsteps behind her. Turning, she saw Jack, and then she heard low voices from the living room, whihc indicated the Hunters' return. "Hey Jack," she said in greeting. "Looks like the Hunters are back." She began to walk in that direction.

Riley frowned. Itseemed like the boy knew something about the mysterious gold coin...

Cadence frowned at Tenebris as he gazed at Orhpeous, his broad shoulders stiff. "That doesn't sound like Kiba, but things happen I guess." She turned her eyes to the coin in Olivia's hand, the light reflecting off the gold and into her face as she bent closer to get a better look. "It's a nice sword engraving. It's carved to the very last detail. I bet it was probably done by magic. And who would spend that much time and energy creating a pretty gold coin? It must have some use, and it's pretty unlikely that it was meant as a bargaining tool of any kind." Cadence's hand drifted toward her own sword as she spoke. It was made of the finest steel, tempered so it could put nicks on any regular blade. It was blue-tinged, the simple wire-wrapped hilt inlaid with a single pearl.

Jack turned Zephyra toward him before she could walk in, the wind was oing in the correct direction now that his hans had lowered "Can I have a word with you for a moment? I just wanted to know if you remembered that we need a second-in-command." hen under his breath he added "Which Jackie was going to make you." then raising his voice again he added "And I was thinking, before we throw ourselves into a battle we may lose again, you should chpse." he said, he may not be able to talk to his crush, or any girl really, but boy could he make strong desicions, most of his ideas became a reality, but he thought it was because Jackie was his sister.
