Shattered Hope: Sequel to LAD

The Life-Givers leader is dead. The group is in chaos, each blaming another for their failure in the battle. They are breaking up, each day heralding another empty room, another person's belongings missing. People are leaving, hoping to find a way to exact revenge on the Death-Bringers, to hide from the devastating aftermath of the battle, or simply to escape from the furious accusations hurled from person to person. But still some people remain in their stronghold.

The Death-Bringers are victorious in the battle. Few had died, and almost none of the injuries were fatal. The future seemed bright for the chaos-makers. But barely two days had passed since the war when their scouts got wind of strangers knocking on the Life-Givers' fortress's door. They all wore steel gray cloaks, armed with longbows and knives. Wolves accompanied them, a couple falcons perching on their shoulders. They were dangerous. Strange. Mysterious.

The Hunters tell the Life-Givers that they come from a far land. They had traveled far and wide, and their only response to their questions were that they had to leave their home land. Hoping the Hunters would provide the remaining Life-Givers a way to get their revenge, they offered to provide room and board for the weary travelers for as long as they wished. It as accepted. The longer the Life-Givers stayed around the Hunters, the more they could see the strange differences between the two groups. After all, every Hunter was immortal.

He emits a quiet aura of power, although he hardly smiles, and a smile that contains actual humor is even rarer. Surprisingly strong, he is agile and fast on his feet. Sardonic and cynical, he has a deep vein of dry humor in him despite his outward appearance of seriousness and dangerousness. Around mid-twenties in age.

Other: Halt is well-respected and has a dangerous and fearful reputation. He is a master stragetist, although he is indefinitely impatient. He constantly carries a massive longbow with a ninety-pound draw weight, and two knives.

Description: tall, athletic girl with dark green eyes and long, glossy black hair and skin that looks tanned year-round. She is strong from her intense training with her fellow Hunters; skilled in the art of archery and a well-known expert with the sword. She is more friendly and trusting then her friends, although she is very observant and can come down harsh when the need arises.

Other: The sword Sala had used was actually Cadence's. It is one of the most valuable swords in the world, made with the best material. Cadence had been in the Life-Bringer's group a decade or so before, but she left mysteriously to join the Hunters. She had accidentally left her precious sword behind, and Sala had taken it up for her own.

Tom walked through the shadows of the fortress, worrying. The Life-bringers and The Hunters wouldn't just be at their fortress, twiddling there thumbs. They were probably up to something. Since he was new to the death-bringers, he deceided to explore the fortress. He walked out into the hall, passing Madison and Titus. If he discovered anything new her would report to Halt.

Amber looked up to see Tom, and stopped. This is your chance to make a new friend!!! She walked up to him and said, "Hi. Aren't you the newest member? I'm Amber." she said, smiling, "I'll give you a tour of the fortress, if you like."

Blaze let out a low growl. It meant that someone come outside from the death-bringers fortress, or that someone was near them. "We should go before any of the death-bringer's find us." Olivia said. She disappeared into the shadow's of the trees, where she would be out of sight of any deathbringer's. She called Swoop back to her and gave her a note about Eli coming back with them, and Olivia sent Swoop ahead to give it to Ryder.

Ryder saw a shadow gliding through the trees and identified it as Olivia's bird. "Has something happened?" she said worriedly. She noticed a note with Swoop. After carefully unfolding it, she read the words and paled. "Cadence, they're bringing back another person with them," she said. "Apparently he's been following us since we left the mainland."

"Umm... Okay." Tom replied. He didn't really need friends, as he had always been more solitary, but he couldn't resist her enthusiasm. "How did you join the death-bringers? " he asked.

Cadence's eyebrows shot up. "Are you serious?" She ducked down she could read the letter, and scowled. "We had five highly trained wolves and four birds that have always acted as peripherals. How in the love of..." The Hunter's expression was severe, her body tense as she stared at the scrawled words. "Good grief," she muttered. "I guess we'll just have to meet this person."

~Cadence is going to hate Eli at first... Because he represented the some way the Hunters failed by not finding him. But then.... Lol idk. x)~

Eli gave a sharp whistle which brought his dark eagle, Rama back to perch on his shoulder. Orpheous gave the girl one more sniff and licked her hand before trotting back to his owner and tugging on his sweatshirt, urging him forward. This made Eli laugh. "Alright. Let's go then" he ccaught up to the others and let Orpheous walk along side Eclipse.

Ryder's lip tightened into a straight line. "I really do hope he's on our side... If royalty caught up to us here, I dont know what we'd do. Though I still wonder how we could not have noticed him. He must be trained, to have such skills," she murmured, deep in thought. What if we know him?

Titus smirked. "You'll see." Theu then reached a beautiful cluster of willow trees near a sparkling lake. A wooden bench sat beneath the largest weeping tree. He tugged her over to it while beaming happily.

Mary Jane walked over to the large clearing where she had buried her fallen mother outside of the fortress territory. She ran her hand along the smooth sand and whispered "Rest in peace." she then walked back to the fortress to walk into Jeremy's medic she looked at the boy with affectionate eyes, as she did even when she dated will. She loved the boy. But she knew he didn't believe in relationships. Before he turned around she quickly changed to a piece of wood.

Madison sat on the small bench and looked around she looked at Titus with round eyes "What is this place?" she asked and picked up a leaf turning it over and over in her hand. Still looking at Titus she asked again "What is it?"

"It's the place I used to go fishing with my dad. I go here when I have the time." A dreamy look came to his eyes at the memories.

Riley led the group through the woods with urgency, one eye on the boy the whole time. She didn't even kow his name... After half an hour, she saw the river again. This will be awkward, she thought.

Cadence tapped her fingers on the bench before her, her fingers drumming out a music piece. It was a tune well-known to the Royalty, and she had picked it up over the years. Suddenly, just as she was nearing the finale, Tenebris became as taut as a drawn bowstring. He stared out into the dark, and suddenly tipped his head back and howled. Cadence grimaced as the chilling cry reached its peak and died away. "They're back," she said, which was rather unnecessary. The Hunter could already make out the figures reflected on the moonlit river.

Noticing the sound of the tune he'd heard since childhood, Eli shivered. He loved it, but couldn't bring himself to admit it since it was his father who had made it up for him. Many of the people who served Royalty knew it. So, he'd have to be careful around whoever it was tapping it.

As the scout patrol neared them, Cadence stood, her dark green eyes immediately picking out the strangers. She frowned, unable to see Kiba anywhere among the group. "Riley." Her greeting was quiet, her eyes on the strange boy who had followed them all the way over to the Life-Givers. He was handsome, Cadence supposed, but she was leaning more to hating him right now. After all, he simply represented another way the Hunters had failed. How could they win the war if they couldn't even know if someone had tracked them for leagues upon leagues? In the back of her mind, Cadence knew that she was blaming everyone too harshly. If this stranger had sufficient training, and if they were able to trust him, then he could be extremely valuable to their cause. And it certainately not the Hunters' fault they didn't discover him. Cadence rubbed the back of her neck and glanced at Ryder, then flicked her gaze to Riley, assessing her posture and body language.

Ryder's face was grim as she saw the figures approach. "Welcome back," she said to the returning Hunters. "And you are....?" She raised her eyebrow at the stranger who seemed slightly familiar.

Eli shifted uncomfortably. "I'dvrather not share my name. Call me what you'd like. I just want to help you guys destroy the Royals." He said the last part bitterly. Orpheous sat next to his master. Rama landed gracefully on Eli's shoulder, staring at Ryder. "You probably don't remember refusing in bringing me...but I followed you guys so I could help.."

Madison looked at Titus "Oh. Why'd 'ya bring me?" She asked "Did you want to sya something?"

All of a sudden figure appeared and howled "YOU TWO SHOULD KISS!" (JK)

Riley nodded. "Or so he claims," she muttered to herself. Then, seeing Cadence look for Kiba, she said, "Can we all go inside? It's a really long story, and I'd like to have some coffee while we tell you how we ended up with one missing and one extra person..." Then she laughed. "Coffee at about 2 in the morning... wow."
Violet sat perched on the HUnter's shoulder, observing Rama. Eclipse sat quietly beside Orpheous.

"I followed my brother, Titus, here, and here I am!" Amber said, "What about you?" She was leading him to the kitchen. "Here's the kitchen......" She kept walking, "Do you have a room yet?" She asked as she passed her room, and opened the door to see Faith running towards her. She put her paws on her shoulders, then laughed, "This is Faith, my dog."

"Yes I have a room. Several Life-Givers killed my parents, sister, and baby brother. So I came here to get revenge. By the way, I like your dog! " he said, petting Faith. "I love dogs. I had one of my own, once, but the Life-Givers killed it.

"Alright, newbie. We'll trust you... for now," Ryder replied coolly, regaining her composure. "And yes, Riley, let's have some refreshments at 2 AM... I hope the Life-Givers don't mind a stranger in their premises. I'd like to find out what happened to Kiba." She didn't trust the strange boy who had followed them. Why would0 she refuse to bring someone with her? They needed all the help they could get.

Eli looked at the sky and created a warm breeze. He loved midnight. It was so dark and easy to hide in. Looking at Ryder, he sighed. "You'll understand later." With that,he began to walk into the night. "I'll be back later."
