Shattered Hope: Sequel to LAD

The Life-Givers leader is dead. The group is in chaos, each blaming another for their failure in the battle. They are breaking up, each day heralding another empty room, another person's belongings missing. People are leaving, hoping to find a way to exact revenge on the Death-Bringers, to hide from the devastating aftermath of the battle, or simply to escape from the furious accusations hurled from person to person. But still some people remain in their stronghold.

The Death-Bringers are victorious in the battle. Few had died, and almost none of the injuries were fatal. The future seemed bright for the chaos-makers. But barely two days had passed since the war when their scouts got wind of strangers knocking on the Life-Givers' fortress's door. They all wore steel gray cloaks, armed with longbows and knives. Wolves accompanied them, a couple falcons perching on their shoulders. They were dangerous. Strange. Mysterious.

The Hunters tell the Life-Givers that they come from a far land. They had traveled far and wide, and their only response to their questions were that they had to leave their home land. Hoping the Hunters would provide the remaining Life-Givers a way to get their revenge, they offered to provide room and board for the weary travelers for as long as they wished. It as accepted. The longer the Life-Givers stayed around the Hunters, the more they could see the strange differences between the two groups. After all, every Hunter was immortal.

He emits a quiet aura of power, although he hardly smiles, and a smile that contains actual humor is even rarer. Surprisingly strong, he is agile and fast on his feet. Sardonic and cynical, he has a deep vein of dry humor in him despite his outward appearance of seriousness and dangerousness. Around mid-twenties in age.

Other: Halt is well-respected and has a dangerous and fearful reputation. He is a master stragetist, although he is indefinitely impatient. He constantly carries a massive longbow with a ninety-pound draw weight, and two knives.

She is strong from her intense training with her fellow Hunters; skilled in the art of archery and a well-known expert with the sword. She is more friendly and trusting then her friends, although she is very observant and can come down harsh when the need arises.

Other: The sword Sala had used was actually Cadence's. It is one of the most valuable swords in the world, made with the best material. Cadence had been in the Life-Bringer's group a decade or so before, but she left mysteriously to join the Hunters. She had accidentally left her precious sword behind, and Sala had taken it up for her own.

Destiny started to get worried, her heart beating loudly and quickly, for some reason, she was sure he could hear it. She gulped and bit her lips, her anxiety beginning to show. Now she tried to hide her face somehow, though she knew it wasn't worth it. Destiny looked up at Kiba, her blue eyes showing her fear.

Kiba rose an eyebrow. "What's with you, Blondie?" He asked, glancing at the wound on her head. "You need to be treated..."

"I meet your other people not... if you're normal," Destiny took her time on the last sentence so the words would come out normal. She gave him a smirkish smile, forcing the giggles down her throat. It was so fun to irritate him. "....Akita." she finished, the smirk growing wider.

Kiba smirked. "Hah hah, very funny. You're not supposed to be insulting me in your condition, Blondie. I saved you, too, show a little respect." He teased, glancing at her. "Kee-buh. Not Akita, not Rita, Kiba."

"Humph, fine!" Destiny whined, glaring at him teasingly. She bit her lip to hide the smile that was coming up on her face. "Kiba the akita?" Her hand reached up and scratched his hair like he was a dog with this face -> :3

Ryder took the box from Cadence, raising an eyebrow in her direction. She shuffled through the slips of paper, making a mental list of the ones shed already counted. Finally, she set the box down and turned to everyone. "Well, we have a verdict," she said nonchalantly. "The majority of us agree that Zephyra should be the new Life-Givers leader."

Kiba flinched, but sighed. She was scratching his hoodie's fur. "Close enough, Blondie."

"What the heck?!" Riley exclaimed after Kiba. Time passed, but when he didn't return, she turned to Olivia and said, "Let's release the animals, Then we'll have to go without him." She whistled a soft pattern to Eclipse and Violet, and they rushed off, following the blonde's scent. It was a bit ironic because Riley had blonde hair herself, but it was more of a dull golden yellow. She turned and fast-walked through the undergrowth.

"Where are you taking me anyways? Just walking around randomly?" Destiny asked, raising an eyebrow. The blood was beginning to get in her hair, and once she saw the blood, she realized how much her head hurt. "Ouch! It hurts!" She exclaimed, grasping her head in her hands, wincing from the pain. Destiny felt awkward now. A total stranger had saved her. Unless she had forgotten her past the concussion was so bad. Her words were normal, because she took time saying it, but her voice still sounded like a drunken person. Now her cheeks flushed red. She must seem like a total idiot. Deciding not to say anything anymore, she just looked up at him, failing at hiding her confusion.

Kiba heard Riley's voice and grinned. Same old Riley. They were probably leaving him behind, as always. "To get patched up." He said, walking faster. Knowing the others, they would run miles ahead if he didn't hurry it up. "D'you at least remember your name, Blondie?"

Ike sighed. "Finally!" He said, smiling. "She's the best suited for it too."

Zephyra's eyes widened as she heard her name. She knew she was kind of popular, but she hadn't really expected to be chose. She went forward and stood next to Ryder. "Um... Do I have to make a speech? I'm not really good at that kind of stuff." She laughed nervously, but now she could feel the confidence slowly welling up inside her. "It's a great honor to be chosen as leader. Thank you all, and I will do my best to make sure we get our revenge!" She could already picture herself holding a dagger across the Death Bringer leader's throat, crimson blood pulsing and staining the weapon.

"Whoo! Go Zephyra!" exclaimed Cerminia, grinning. "We all thought you'd make an awesome leader, right guys?" She got up off the floor and stretched. "Well, finally," she said, yawning.

"Destiny.. or Blondie..?" Destiny asked, confused as she looked up at him. "Where are we going? Who are you? Do you know my sister, Mini?" She didn't remember almost anything except her sister, which she hadn't remembered before the concussion. "What's on your face? Why is your hair so messy? Why are you carrying me?" Perpetually asking questions, she really meant it. She wasn't teasing this time.

Kiba's eye twitched again, sighing. "Destiny, I guess." He replied, catching up with Riley and the others. "To the good guys, I'm Kiba, not unless she's in the Life Bringers, red war paint, you were hurt and you'll probably walk like a drunk if I let you go, and because it's just like that." He answered, also not teasing. His hair would never be straight or gelled down.

Ryder smiled at Zephyra. She was glad she was chosen. "I'd like to talk to you privately about matters then," she said. She'd start off by telling her about the scouting party and then about the Hunters. "I'd like my second-in-command to talk with us, though," she added. She whistled and Mercedes flew into the room, ducking under the low light fixtures. She whispered a message in her ear and she flew off to find Cadence.

"That was a long sentence," Destiny exclaimed, trying to sit up. "Who's the life bringers? I remember her... but not really what she looked like. Can you paint a smiley face on my face?" She smiled brightly, though she was still unsure of what was going to do. "Kiba is a cool name!"

Other: She is very short tempered. If you make her mad, she will draw blood, but not a lot, unless she's really fighting someone. She seems like she's always mad, but she isn't. That's just her personality. If you make her mad, it's not good. NO GOOD

(hunters) Olivia sent Blaze and Swoop in the other direction, towards Destiny. She looked over towards Kiba and Destiny and said, "I think one of the life givers is called Mini. " She turned to Riley and quietly said, "What are we gonna do with her? We can't take her on the mission. Someone will have to watch her or take her to the life-givers, unless we wait until she heals, or leave her."

"You can leave me.. " Destiny murmured, standing up by herself. She nearly fell, so she grabbed a tree branch. "I'll be fine. Really. Bye.." Destiny thought over before she spoke, "Akita." She, like the delirious fool she was, walked away stumbling over her own feet, but she stopped and sat down next to a tree, because she felt sick to her stomach from walking. "I'll be fine," Her voice was reassuring, but it wasn't working on herself. "Oh well. What coul they do to help anyways..."

(Life-Givers)- Jack looked at Zephyra I hope your proud Jackie. Jack knew from the time Zephyra came to the Life-Givers that she saw potiential, even thinkin of making her second-in-command. Jack called out loud so everyone heard "She should choose Second-In-Command!" He waited for someone to reply.

Ryder turned to Jack. "Yes, a second-in-command would be good. They can carry out orders and lead groups. Zephyra can decide who she thinks is suitable. The meeting is over. If you have questions you can ask me, but other than that I'd suggest going to bed or doing your nightly activities," she said. She kept glancing down the hallway to see if Mercedes had returned with Cadence.

Kiba stared at the girl. "Hmph... I don't believe that for a second." He said, narrowing his eyes. "You'll wander around until you die of blood loss. Even if you manage to live, you won't even know where to go. So, last chance Destiny, and I'm serious, do you want to be treated by the Hunters?"

Ike grinned at Zephyra. He didn't doubt her skills at all, even if she was young. "Best of luck out there," He said, putting his hands in his pockets.

Chrysler watched, a small smile forming on his lips. "Congratulations," He mumbled.

Destiny glared at him, but she knew that he was telling the truth. She walked over to him and said, so that only he could hear, "You don't make it easy to respect for saving me." She grumbled, wanting to cross her arms like a toddler, but knew better than to do so. He was the most frightening out of all the ones she'd seen before, but they, for some reason, scared her more.

Kiba smirked. "Right, right, so... is that a yes? My friends over there are starting to get farther away." He said, nodding over towards Riley and the others, who actually were getting farther and farther behind the more time he spent talking to the girl.

"Yes, it's a yes," Destiny growled, and walked slowly so she wouldn't fall over her own feet. "You can go ahead.. I'll catch up," She said, realizing how far she was keeping him back from the others. "Wait, are you a Hunter?"
