Shattered Hope: Sequel to LAD

The Life-Givers leader is dead. The group is in chaos, each blaming another for their failure in the battle. They are breaking up, each day heralding another empty room, another person's belongings missing. People are leaving, hoping to find a way to exact revenge on the Death-Bringers, to hide from the devastating aftermath of the battle, or simply to escape from the furious accusations hurled from person to person. But still some people remain in their stronghold.

The Death-Bringers are victorious in the battle. Few had died, and almost none of the injuries were fatal. The future seemed bright for the chaos-makers. But barely two days had passed since the war when their scouts got wind of strangers knocking on the Life-Givers' fortress's door. They all wore steel gray cloaks, armed with longbows and knives. Wolves accompanied them, a couple falcons perching on their shoulders. They were dangerous. Strange. Mysterious.

The Hunters tell the Life-Givers that they come from a far land. They had traveled far and wide, and their only response to their questions were that they had to leave their home land. Hoping the Hunters would provide the remaining Life-Givers a way to get their revenge, they offered to provide room and board for the weary travelers for as long as they wished. It as accepted. The longer the Life-Givers stayed around the Hunters, the more they could see the strange differences between the two groups. After all, every Hunter was immortal.

Other: The sword Sala had used was actually Cadence's. It is one of the most valuable swords in the world, made with the best material. Cadence had been in the Life-Bringer's group a decade or so before, but she left mysteriously to join the Hunters. She had accidentally left her precious sword behind, and Sala had taken it up for her own.

~I think that some (or all.) of the hunters are going to try to sneak into the Death bringers fort, get a good idea of the lay out, and plant some traps.~

~That's only preliminary planning. That's going to happen... soon. Zephyra, Cadence, and Ryder have laid down some terms and stuff. And.... here are the terms:

"If Ryder," she said, glancing at her leader quickly, "agrees, our terms are thus." She placed her hand flat down on the tabletop in front of her firmly and continued, "We will fight for you, as before. And we will even teach you some of our techniques, including how we make our blades. They are much harder than the swords and knives you Life-Givers use, as I've noticed. We will risk our lives and well-being to scout the Death-Bringers fortress to learn of the layout and passageways we can ambush and hide in. We will search for weaknesses, ways to breach their fortress. We will even attempt to set up traps unique to our training. The Hunters will fight as hard as we can, and we will achieve our goals. Both of ours. We will win, because we want revenge for our country, and you want revenge for your fallen friends and family. And then you will travel with us back to our country and help us."

And Zephyra agreed, so there we go... The third sequel will be on the Hunters' home land. :I

And here is some more information on the Hunters that I made up on the spot.

Well, the Hunters come from a distant land that no one else seems to know about. They're usually kind of close-mouthed about their immortality and stuff. So, the Hunters are immortal, and they usually stop aging at around 20-30. All of them have a special bond with animals (wolves and birds are the usual.) The "pets" are bonded to them around when the Hunters are around 2 years of age. They're all trained in a harsh and strict training school-- hunting, fighting with weapons and body, stealth, plant training, debate skills, etc.-- until the age of fifteen-eighteen. The sooner you get released from the Academy, the more skilled you are, mostly. The best usually become leaders of some organization or the other. Anyways, a war started in the Hunters' home land, and they start turning on each other. (Oh yeah, and there's different ranks/groups. Royalty, that consists of the King, Queen, and their kin. The Hunters, they work for Royalty along with the Assassins, the Soldiers, the Healers, etc. The Laborers are really just the people who go around and do anything from building structures to helping the Hunters and Soldiers.) The Laborers are rebelling along with some of the low Healers. Roughly half of the other groups side with the rebels, the other half sides with the Royalty. So basically, the Hunters who came to the Life-Bringers (Ryder, Cadence, Kiba, Riley, Olivia, and Lighty's character) were part of the rebel group. They were the scouts that went around the country picking off some Hunters there, some Assassins here... Their scout party was a lot bigger, but eventually they got ambushed, and most of their party was killed. The remaining fled out of the country and somehow landed on the Life-Givers doorstep after several weeks of travelling. Ryder doesn't have to necessarily tell Zephyra all of this. Like I said above, they're rather close mouthed about the whole rebel thing. Partly it's because almost all the Hunters in that scout party that escaped had one kin/friend that was killed. The other part, I'll let each character decided on his/her own.

Anything else? :3 And you should get your characters to talk to Cadence and Ryder or something. Like Cadence could talk to Chrysler about the super-hard metal for blades thing.

Riley stared at the boy. "How... How do you know Ryder? You're not a royal, are you?" The last words were whispered as her eyes narrowed in suspicion.

Eclipse wanted to know more about the black wolf. What's your name? she asked politely.

Eli smirked. "She's.....an old acquaintance I suppose you could say. And no. I hate the royal family." His smirk disappeared grimly.

Orpheous. And you? he rumbled in response.

Riley frowned. She had no idea how she was supposed to step around the guy so she could get back to Ryder. She didn't trust him enough to just leave. "Well, I'm going now if you don't mind.'' She took a step toward tyhe woods.

Eclipse. The female human with the blond hair is my leader, the silver wolf replied, tail wagging.

Orpheous nodded in acknowledgement. He padded toward the now leaving Riley and blocked her path, making a move to sniff her hand in greeting as to introduce himself.

"You're going to Ryder, right? I'm going to then...if you don't mind." Eli said with an amused grin. Riley looked startled. "Oh....and no need to be afraid of me. I mean no harm." He announced.

~hurry up and get back here guys. We're all bored and I need to fast forward soon.~

(Death-Bringers)- Madison looked at Titus and said "Hello?" she waited for him to react.

(Life-Givers)- Jack walked over to Zephyra and tapped her on the shoulder "Zephyra, may I talk to you?" he asked her.

Titus came back from staring after the mosquito. He had found it somehow....odd. "im sorry...what'd you say? I was thinking...." he apoligized spacily.

Olivia looked suspiously at Eli. She wasn't sure if she should trust him. Swoop flew down to her and gave her a map of the outside of the death bringer's fortress. "Thanks" she whispered, "Scout now". Swoop flew away, scouting the surrounding area for danger. "How did you find us?" Olivia asked Eli. "Swoop and Blaze should have noticed you before you got here."

Eli spun around to see the girl. Surprise filled his gray eyes. "Sorry. Didn't see you there for a sec....uh. well, I have bewn following you guys....since you left the homeland." He replied. "Im pretty good at hiding...thats probably why I wasnt caught." He chuckled.

(Death-Bringers)- Jeremy let out a surprised yelp when he pricked himself with a needle, he grabbed a bottle of chemical and rubbed it on. He remembered the ingredients so his allergies wouldn't bother him, this was his special bottle, and he used it for peanut free Death-Bringers.

(Death-Bringers)- Madison looked at Titus "Me? Oh, I didn't say anything but I asked if you wanted to meet up somewhere to talk." she said. (I think)

Titus's eyes lit up with the memory. "Oh yeah! Sure. Sounds fine to me." He smiled.

(Death-Bringers)- Madison's eyes were bright and she looked at Titus with loving, grntle, eyes. He probably noticed her sudden change of charachter around him. "Where?" she asked, still under a Titus-Trance.

Titus gave her a huge grin. "A place I've been meaning to show you." Grabbing her hand, he lead the way excitedly, steps bouncy.

Cadence fidgeted, lacing her long, straight hair through her fingers as she stared off into the distance. Tenebris whined from time to time from his place at her feet, trying to catch her attention. She acknowledge him briefly once, but otherwise ignored him. We have to win this war, Cadence thought unhappily. "One war after another," she grumbled out loud. "What I would give for a peaceful life!" Pausing to scratch Tenebris's neck, Cadence pushed herself off the living room chair and started pacing. She could feel Tenebris's eyes following her, bristling when he smelled her anxiety. The large wolf slunk to his paws, padding silently over to his master until he was only two feet away as Cadence paced back and forth like a caged animal. "I want something to do," the Hunter said, addressng herself as much as she was talking to Tenebris. "I want to find Tobias, I want to know if Riley and the others are okay, I just want to have something to do other than sit here and twiddle my thumbs!" Cadence swung around and bent so she was eye to eye with Tenebris. He stuck his nose out, offering a gesture of consolation. She stroked him and resumed her seat on the chair, brooding silently. "Corr." Cadence's voice was so sudden in the profound silence that had enveloped them for the past fifteen minutes, Tenebris's eyes flicked up and he tensed marginally. "Do you remember him Tenebris? Corr. The capill uisce. I don't know if he's alive or not either." Corr was a capaill uisce, a specially bred type of horse for the Royalty's Soldiers. Hunters didn't usually have horses of any kind, but Cadence did. Her best friend, Tobias, had been a high ranked Soldier, and he had gifted Cadence with one of the fastest capaill uisce when an year before the war started. They horses had extended life times, they were at least two times faster than regular horses, and they were difficult to handle. The capaill uisce were water horses, belonging originally from the sea; they were killer horses, perfectly capable of tearing the throat out of any human or animal. They were to be feared. But Cadence loved Corr. He had been trained by Tobias, trained to obey to Cadence, and to Cadence only... And Cadence had lost him in the last raid. He had vanished, like Tobias had, without a trace.

Cadence finally sighed and stood. "I'm going outside to wait for Riley."

~guys, don't post excess cuz this thing is 20 pages already and we haven't even attacked the Death-Bringer's fort yet ~

Ryder greeted Cadence with a quiet "Hello," when she came outside. She exhaled slowly.
"Cadence, when we get back to our homeland, how will we ever defeat the monarchy? They have the best Soldiers, Healers and some Hunters, as well. There are only a few Life-Givers, too, and we may lose more going after the Death-Bringers. I feel as though we're taking a large risk that may not pay off."

Riley stared at the guy, then glanced at Olivia. Then she noticed Orpheous sniffing her hand, and she tentatively stroked him on the head. "Come on," she addresssed the boy. "We're taking you to Ryder."

Eclipse watched as her leader conferred with the human male. Then she turned to Orpheous. I think my leader said we're going back to the headquarters.

~After this important part we can fast forward past the training and preperation. Then the battle shall begin. :3~

Cadence sighed, leaning against the stone wall as she squinted into the falling darkness. "The forces were never really large in the first place," she reminded Ryder. "The Royalty ruled more by fear than by actual force... It's been three months since we left. Maybe times have changed and more people have joined the rebels." The Hunter shrugged uncomfortably, unable to voice the fact that the possibility was not really likely. "All the Life-Givers have powers.... that could help. But alll I have to say is I won't give up. I've lost too many friends and family for me to back down."

Amber sighed and went out of her room in PJs and slippers. She started getting bored, then grumpy. She clenched her fist, then ran into Titus, who was with Madison. "Oh! Sorry...!" Amber said apologetically, "I was just walking and.... gah." She sighed, and murmured something to herself. "I'll leave you two alone." she growled. She walked away, and turned a corner, than sat in a corner, and started thinking to herself. Thoughts went through her mind: Love, friends... She had none. She sighed, then walked slowly back to her room.

nothing really with the Death-Bringers, but with the Life-Givers:
-the Hunters who went to the fortress are returning
-Zephyra has just agreed to help the Hunters fight their war after the war with the Death-Bringers, although she hasn't said anything to anyone else but Cadence and Ryder yet.
