RiverClan RPG: Dried Up

Rules

• Anyone may join.
• Anyone outside of RiverClan must fill out a character form, but RiverClan members can just roleplay themselves without filling out a form.
•There is a maximum of one character per person.
• No god-modding or killing other members characters
• You must follow all Offical RPG rules and site rules
• Wait until your character is accepted before you start roleplaying (RiverClan members, please post to let me know if you're joining the rp, we'll start roleplaying when at least five people have joined).
• You cannot create a character with a high rank such as leader, deputy, or medicine cat, but you can roleplay as a senior warrior or lower rank.
• Have fun!

The Story

This greenleaf has been very hot and dry, and the river has been slowly lower. RiverClan cats have suspected that the heat was causing their main food source to dry up. One night the river suddenly dried up completely, and now RiverClan cats are forced to hunt in the forest in their territory. It has now been nearly half a moon since the river dried up, and it has rained several times, but the river has not returned. Now Streamstar suspects that something else has caused the river to dry up. She is leading a patrol upstream to investigate.

What the RiverClan leader does not know is that beavers have built a dam upstream, keeping water from flowing down into RiverClan territory. Its up to the patrol to find some way to destroy the dam and bring the water back.

Flamepaw sat down and yowled. "Why, StarClan? We're going to go thristy!" She looked over at the patrol. "I saw that the water hole is dried up, too!" (I guess they have a water hole )

Lynxfang sighed, sitting in the cool shadows. "All of you stop your whining, we've still got prey in the forests of our territory. The river will come back soon enough, but the more you cry about it, the longer we waste our time when we could be hunting for the Clan. Sure, this has never happened before, but Starclan will guide us through this." The tom's voice sounded annoyed. Sure, it was alarming to lose their water source, but if the other Clans could live without a river and fish, so could RiverClan. What kind of a joke is this though? We were named for our river and what has it done? Dried up to a crisp on us.

~Just going to pop in now ~

Radioactive sat a few paces away from the dried up riverbed, her eyes unreadable.
'Strange. It's been hot, but not hot enough for the whole river to dry up within a few days. Perhaps twolegs have done something to stop the water..' She thought fearfully. What could of dried up the river within days?!
"Lynxfang is right. I'm sure rain will fill up the river again soon. We don't need to make our situation any worse. We need to start looking for another water source or prey." Radioactive called from the riverbed, her long tail flicking.

Pearldust snorted disbelievingly. "It'll have to be raining lakes for the river to fill back up again. And if it does, what'll stop it from draining away again?" She leaped nimbly back onto the river bank and padded away from the others. "And if we really do want to stop complaining and start doing other things, then we need to stop hanging around the empty river and gawking," she called back.

Lynxfang rolled his eyes. "You always did believe yourself to be a leader, Pearldust. Frankly, it's annoying to be snarled at by some she-cat on her high horse. We know we need to leave, just give us room to breath first. Anyhow your smart remarks aren't going to get it back either. We need to report back to Streamstar, our true leader and the only one I'm taking orders from." With that, the grumpy tom spared the warrior a glare before stalking off toward camp.

"Believing myself to be leader? Getting ahead of ourselves are we?" Pearldust shot back at the retreating back. "Frankly, it's annoying to be snarled back at a cranky old tom who exaggerates everything. I was offering a reminder, not telling everyone off for whining and wasting time instead of hunting."

She whipped around and headed away from the others, still smarting from Lynxfang's words. Even though they were completely untrue, and she knew that he was an badger to everyone but their "true leader" (as if she was stupid and pretentious enough to try to take over Streamstar), it hurt. The shortage of water and prey had driven her temper short. Pearldust disappeared into the trees, with only one thought on her mind: to get away from camp and spend the rest of the day hunting.

It wasn't like she could actually go and vent her anger some other way.

~Is Flamepaw on Lynxfang and Pearldust's patrol? I don't know what to say now, since I don't know whether I am or not

Lynxfang flicked his tail in dismissal to Pearldust's grumbling, rolling his eyes. "I'm not old, thank you very much." he growled to himself and slunk closer to camp. He hated being spoken to like he was some old, foolish elder and others did that so that was exactly why he acted so sour all the time. Besides, he was an opinionated guy and didn't hold his thoughts in. Flattening his ears, he scowled.

Pinewhisker stared out into the forest expectantly. She had stayed behind at camp while the others had gone out on a patrol and been waiting outside of camp. Her black fur prickled with envy. They had better not find something cool. She caught sight of a cat moving towards camp; Lynxfang. She stood up and called out to him with a loud meow. The she-cat's tail lashed with excitement. "Find anything?" she questioned.

Flamepaw looked up at Raindrop. "If the water's dried up, what do I do now? I mean, in training?" she meowed. StarClan, Flamepaw thought. Please bring back our water!

Lynxfang looked up to see Pinewhisker calling to him. With a tired sigh, he ambled over and canted his ears back in annoyance, yellow eyes irritable. "You'll find out what I saw soon enough. I'll tell you one thing: it's not good." With that, the tom slipped past the she-cat in search of Streamstar.

Shellfur had stayed behind at camp when the patrol left, and when he saw Lynxfang come up to the camp, he knew something was up. Shellfur was about to go try and find out what happened, but he figured Lynxfang was looking for Streamstar and did not want to get in the big cat's way. I wonder what happened? By that scowl though, I would assume it isn't good. Shellfur thought as he sat in the shadows of the camp's reed wall.

Worry glazed over Pinewhisker's eyes. She turned and followed Lynxfang into camp. When she entered, she caught sight of Shellfur's cream coat. Her eyes traveled back to Lynxfang, but she thought better of following him. She approached Shellfur slowly with a grave expression.

Shellfur watched as Pinewhisker stepped away from Lynxfang and began padding towards him. "Did he tell you what got him so upset?" Shellfur said as Pinewhisker approached, hoping to find out what was going on.

Pinewhisker sighed. "Apparently something bad has happened. I'm guessing they haven't found anything by the river," she replied, sitting down with a soft thump. "The others may tell us, and be less vague, when they come, though."

Shellfur flicked his ears in agreement. "I sure hope so! But if it is as bad as it seems, I wonder if Streamstar will announce it in a meeting." he said. I sure hope these rains have helped the river. Shellfur added silently. StarClan knows how much we rely on the river!

~Everyone is accepted, and Shimmerpaw, I'm guessing that for your character form you meant to put RiverClan and not ThunderClan since RiverClan is the only clan involved in this rp~

~Also I noticed many of your characters are acting like the river has just dried up, but in the original post of the topic I said:

Also, other water sources would not have dried up because the river only dried up because of a beaver dam (but they don't know about the dam yet)~

After looking around camp, Streamstar was still not able to find Torrentheart. She turned around and saw Lynxfang approaching her. "Hello Lynxfang," she meowed, "is the river still dry?" She hoped that he would bring good news, but it seemed unlikely.
