Shattered Hope: Sequel to LAD

The Life-Givers leader is dead. The group is in chaos, each blaming another for their failure in the battle. They are breaking up, each day heralding another empty room, another person's belongings missing. People are leaving, hoping to find a way to exact revenge on the Death-Bringers, to hide from the devastating aftermath of the battle, or simply to escape from the furious accusations hurled from person to person. But still some people remain in their stronghold.

The Death-Bringers are victorious in the battle. Few had died, and almost none of the injuries were fatal. The future seemed bright for the chaos-makers. But barely two days had passed since the war when their scouts got wind of strangers knocking on the Life-Givers' fortress's door. They all wore steel gray cloaks, armed with longbows and knives. Wolves accompanied them, a couple falcons perching on their shoulders. They were dangerous. Strange. Mysterious.

The Hunters tell the Life-Givers that they come from a far land. They had traveled far and wide, and their only response to their questions were that they had to leave their home land. Hoping the Hunters would provide the remaining Life-Givers a way to get their revenge, they offered to provide room and board for the weary travelers for as long as they wished. It as accepted. The longer the Life-Givers stayed around the Hunters, the more they could see the strange differences between the two groups. After all, every Hunter was immortal.

Other: The sword Sala had used was actually Cadence's. It is one of the most valuable swords in the world, made with the best material. Cadence had been in the Life-Bringer's group a decade or so before, but she left mysteriously to join the Hunters. She had accidentally left her precious sword behind, and Sala had taken it up for her own.

(Life-givers) "Hey Ike." Cassandra said. "My arm and leg don't hurt as much, but I still can't do anything around here. Xurxo's powers aren't strong enough to heal them properly." She couldn't really use her arm and her leg that had been shot by Halt in the battle. Where he had cut her, there was a long scar across her stomach. She glanced over at one of the hunters, who was almost shouting.

(hunters) Olivia inched away from Cadence, who was almost shouting. "I don't think its better when people die either, but you don't need to shout." she said.

(Life-Givers)- Jack looked at Falatheil and smiled. He drew closer to her and put his lips on hers, he felt a tingling sensation through his body, hoping Falatheil wouldn't push him away.

(life Givers)- Mini walked into the training area. A bit lost. She wasn't sure of what to do. She decided to train but didn't know who to train with. She glanced around the training area and spotted a bunch of Hunters gathered.

Cadence swung around and glared at Olivia. After a moment, she finally relented, a shutter falling over her already dark green eyes. "Sorry." She flicked Ryder a slightly apologetic look and retreated physically and mentally. Cadence leaned against the stone wall, the cool stone pressing into her back. She stared at her feet, mouth drawn taut in an expression of displeasure. Tenebris approached her silently, an approachful look in his gray eyes. So maybe I am still impulsive...

(Hunters) Riley stepped back, stung by the force of Cadence's words. "I-I'm sorry," she mumbled. "I wasn't thinking about my choice of words..."

(Life-Givers) "I have no idea," Zephyra said softly to Xurxo. "Seems pretty intense though." Even from yards away she could see the tears glistening in Riley's eyes, but Zephyra knew Riley wouldn't let them fall. What does she have to cry about? she thougt bitterly. Riley wasn't he one who lost a sister to the Death-Bringers...

James willed himself to rise into the air. He had a birds-eye view off the country side. He flew back to the headquarters.

(Hunters)- Constance stood in the living room, beside the couch. Tenebris sat silently by her feet. It was already eight or so in the evening, and they had finished dinner some time ago. The food had been delicious, especially after eating hard rations for weeks on the Hunters' journey over here. She rubbed the back of her neck and glanced around. Where was everyone?

(Death-Bringers)- Halt sighed. The day had been uneventful. Yet why did he feel so restless? He liked to have action in his life, and this repetitive day after day of sitting here in his study was suffocating him. I'll take night watch, he decided with a sigh.

~Constance? O.o~

(hunters) Riley entered the living room, trying to keep Violet's beak off her face. "So are we ready to go?" she asked, stepping around Eclipse's tail.

(Life-Givers) Zephyra leaned against the living room wall, watching the Hunters. what could they be discussing? she wondered.

(Hunters) Ryder sat down on a sofa, wearing a simple sweater and sweatpants.
"It will take some time to get there, so yes, right now would be a good time to head out. I've drawn a map for you guys," she said, handing Riley a folded piece of sketch paper. "We will be holding the vote for Life-Giver soon, too, if you'd like to stay to vote."

(Hunters) "Thanks," Riley replied, taking the paper and securing it in the pocket of her mottled jacket. "And no, I think Idon't want to wait. I don't know the Life-Givers well enough." She let out a short laugh, then looked around. "Where are the others, Olivia and Kiba?"

(Life-Givers) Zephyra could sort of catch snatches of the conversation, and she heard the word vote. [i]I almost forgot that,[/] she thought startled.

~I think Zephyra should be the new leader ~

(hunters) Olivia entered the living room, with Swoop perched on her should, and Blaze walking beside her. "I'm here." she said, "And Swoop, Blaze, and I are ready to go. I haven't seen Kiba though."

Mini walked into the living room. She covered her mouth as she yawned. "Sorry. A bit tired," she muttered to no one in particular. She looked around. "Soo... we votin' soon?" she asked, plopping down on the floor.

(Hunters) Riley frowned. Kiba seemed to be absent a lot these days. "I hope Kiba gets here soon... I don't want to go on a mission without him." [Windy's probably busy :O]

(Life-Givers) "Hey Mini," Zephyra said, stifling a yawn as she tapped her fingers on the wall she was leaning against, out of pure boredom.

(Busy indeed Teachers didn't give us any breaks.)

Kiba burst into the room, panting. "Here!" He called, looking battered and excited as usual. Bai ran in and sat by his side, his ears pricked. "Beat ya'," Kiba grinned at his dog before joining the girls.

Ike walked in and stretched, looking around at the others. "Voting? Oh, yeah, right." He mumbled, remembering the conversation from last time.

Cadence crossed her arms and nodded. She was a little tired herself. The day had been exhausting. Rubbing her eyes, she stifled a quick yawn and glanced a Ryder. "I guess we could start as soon as most of the people come." Cadence shifted so most of her weight was supported with her right leg, taking the strain off her left foot, which was now asleep.

~I think Zephyra should be leader too :O~

Ryder cleared her throat. "Well, I guess we shall just write our votes on pieces of paper and put them in a box? Someone who's not voting can count them up and see if we all agree."

Cadence hesitated, then shrugged. "I'll count them up," she offered. "I can't choose anyways." Taking up several sheets of notebook paper that had been lying on the kitchen countertop, she tore it up into four even squares for each piece of paper with quick, deft movements. "Are you allowed to vote for yourself?"

"Hey Zephryra," Mini mumbled. She rubbed her eyes. "Let's get this over quickly. I wanna take a nap." She laughed then she stifled a yawn. She looked around for pens. "Anyone got a pen?" she asked. "Or a pencil?"

Riley nodded to Kiba, "Okay, let's go," she said in a low voice so the others couldn't hear. "We'll say we need a break or something." She turned and strode casually out of the living room and waited for the others at the fort entrance.

"Should candidates be allowed to vote?" Zephyra asked.

~What do you mean? And the scout Hunters where supposed to stay until after they voted. :I~

Cadence shrugged. "Don't ask me." She wasn't a big fan of these polticial things. Cadence would rather be going out and doing something, rather than sitting indoors all day and argue verbally whether it was right if someone did this, why it was wrong when someone did that, blah blah blah. She wrinkled her nose at the thought and handed Mini a square of the notebook paper. "I have a pen," she offered, drawing a blue ink pen from her pocket.

~Hunters don't have to vote :O ~

"I don't think candidates should vote. So far, the candidates are Jack, Xurxo and Zephyra. Anyone else?" Ryder asked. "If not, then write down your votes." She took out a pen herself and set it next to the papers. She glanced at Riley as she was leaving. She would tell the Life-Guvers about the mission at the meeting, where thy couldn't stop it anyway.

"Thanks," mumbled Mini, taking the pen gratefully. Mini, then, took the piece of paper. She thought about who to vote for. They're all good candidates... Hmm... She finally decided. She wrote "ZEPHYRA" on the piece of paper and folded it up. "Here," she said handing back the pen. "Soo.. I give this to you?" she asked Candance, frowning. She held out the paper.

~wait wha... O.o~

"Come on, guys," Riley muttered tensely, glancing at her watch. "We don't have all night." She was nervous about being caught or worse, and nerves and tension could make her really grouchy.

Zephyra nodded and watched as the others voted and folded their paper squares. How many of those have my name on them? she thought idly as she waited for them to finish.

Ike smirked and quickly made 10 clones of himself. "So, everyone gets to vote, right?" He joked, and grabbed a pen to write. He wrote down 'Zephyra', adding a small smiley face.

Kiba frowned slightly. "But I didn't vote yet!" He complained, wincing as he bit his lip with his sharp, long canines. Muttering curses under his breath, Kiba scribbled down 'ZEPHIRA' on a piece of paper. He wasn't very good at spelling, and his handwriting was mostly in capitals and simple straight lines. At least it made letters like 'Z' easier to write, but all of the curves in his letters were pointed. "Done, let's go." He mumbled, starting to get impatient. Bai tried to bite the folded piece of paper and managed to take off a piece. Kiba quickly grabbed it and handed it to Cadence.
