Brightstar peers down at her assembled Clan. "All of the Clans are suffering from the lack of no rivers. I, and the other leaders have decided that two cats from each Clan will join the patrol upstream!" She pauses, then adds, "Maplestream, and I will go."

~Hey tawnypelt, can I god mod you and make u come and save us by like... um helping Brightstar with the kits and elders?~

Brightstar nudged the kit. "Follow me," she ordered. Grasping Pebblefur's scruff again, Brightstar set off down the burning path. "Watch out!" she called. "Burning log." "Step off the path here. We'll go around that patch of fire." Minutes passed as Brightstar, the kit, and the unconscious elder made their way slowly and painfully toward the lake. Brightstar's lungs burned and she could hardly see. The kit wailed pitifully, stumbling with every step. We won't go much further at this rate. The fire will ring us in... Brightstar thought. Where are you, Nightfrost?

~Sorry for god-modding you, Brightstar. But I thought we needed something to get back on track. I read through all the other posts. *pant*~

Tawnypelt stared into the distant ring of orange flames lapping the blackened trees.
Brightstar and Nightfrost and whoever was with them aren't back yet. She had a sudden random image of the cats riding on Max the killer whale and riding heroically out of the burning scene, but sadly, that didn't happen. Making sure no one was looking, she slipped back into the river and waded back into the fire, which was dying down, because the rain started again. Dragging her tail in the dirt, she hoped it would save her if she got lost.

"Nightfrost?" Nightfrost heard a raspy mew, like an elder. She followed the voice, nudging Thornfur, Reedshine and Ripplepelt along and attempting to hold on to the kit in her mouth. She went over to the figure. BRIGHTSTAR! Nightfrost felt a mixture of emotions at once. Relief, happiness, and proudness. She looked around. Brightstar had all the elders with her! quickly, she waved her tail towards the exit and was about to go when she noticed a tiny bundle at Brighstar's paws. Squinting through the smoke, she saw it was a... kit? Cloudykit! She gasped, fur in her mouth. Where is his mother?

Tawnypelt stumbled through the woods again, the sick ash and smoke quickly clogging up her nose. Seeing blurry shapes in front of her, she padded faster, making sure to keep her tail low, and drag across the blackened ground.

"Oomph," Tawnypelt grunted, walking facefirst into a large, fluffy body that tasted like grime. "Nightfrost!" she cried happily, dancing in circles ( yeaah go me). then she noticed Brightstar, the rest of the elders, mostly from Riverclan, and a tiny little damp blob at Brightstar's paws. She groaned. "Why aren't any of the kits with their mothers?" She sighed, then immediately gave out a hacking cough. "I found another kit, but Whitefire took care of it." She grabbed the little furball by the scruff, and then they all started back the way Tawnypelt came from.

(Ah. Now we all escaped the fire.)

The fire burned in the forest, but Icestar could hear a rumble of thunder in the distance. Rain! Its coming! Icestar sprang to her feet and let out a yell of triumph. THe fire and drought will be over!

Suddenly Tawnypelt noticed she was being followed by Silverstream.

~Silverstream, Tawneypelt did not want to be god-modded.

~Oh well, it wasn't a big thing. Just don't do it again.~

Finally, all the cats were safely on the other side of the river, and the rain started again, without any lightning this time. The cooling rain dappled the cat's pelts, and everyone sat down to groom themselves and treat their injuries. The medicine cats scurried around, kits reunited with their mothers, elders quietly resting. No one was missing. Or dead. Tawnypelt sighed contentedly, and ignoring her slightly stinging burns, she fell asleep. (Finally, some peace!)

Stonestream helped Echosong pass out aloe (aloe vera!) to help soothe the burns. Spotting Cloudykit, he hurried over to Echosong. "I think you should check on Cloudykit. He looks..... messy."
