River/Thunderclan RPG: The Flood
First topic message reminder :
In her dream, Streamstar sat at the border between Thunderclan and Riverclan. She looked up and noticed that the sky was clear, not a cloud to be seen. She turned towards the river, hoping to find fish, but what she saw suprised her. In the reflection, the sky had become filled with clouds. She looked up, and realized that these clouds were growing bigger, and getting darker every moment. Then, she heard a voice, seeming to come from everywhere and nowhere at once. A storm is brewing, which will either tear you apart or bring you together. Rain began to pour and thunder boomed, and the next moment, Streamstar was awake in her nest.

Milkypaw's ears twitched when she heard Snowstar say "rain." Rain? she thought to herself. Milkypaw always found the rain to be amusing. Though she never like the way it felt on her coat, she found the sound of the droplets of rain hitting the ground to be quite relaxing. She always loved to watch the rain falling from the sky from inside the den. Milkypaw felt a hint of excitement rush through her, but she quickly settled down for the situation they were in. "Is there anything I can do to help?" Her eyes lit up with eagerness.

Ripplepaw ran a forepaw over his tired face and looked around. All the other apprentices had left to do their duties. Yawning, the apprentice stretched and trotted out to where he saw his mentor, Silverlily, talking to Streamstar. The fresh air tickled his whiskers, smelling cool and wet. Ripplepaw glanced up toward the cloudy sky. Rain?
He came up behind Silverlily and poked her. "Hi!"

Heatherpaw padded out of the medicine cat den and stretched her forelegs and them each hind leg in turn. She let out a large yawn and then looked around the clearing. Something seemed eerie and ominous today as she padded out into the clearing. She had grown noticeably since she was first made the medicine cat apprentice and she learned a lot from Redleaf. She no longer was nervous about healing a clan mate or had to question what herbs she should use. Heatherpaw had grown more confident in her abilities and decided it wouldn't hurt to stalk up on herbs. Something about today was making her feel on edge and somehow a full storage of herbs always made her feel more at ease.

Silverlily poked her apprentice back with her tail. "Hey, you. We've got a special task today." She beckoned Ripplepaw forward and pointed with a paw towards the dens. "We're spending the day patching up the dens. It looks like there's going to be some heavy rainfall soon, and Streamstar's worried about the river flooding. Sounds boring, but you can have the pick of the fresh-kill pile tonight, yeah? We'll do battle training tomorrow if we finish reinforcements today."
...
"Right," Hazelshade muttered. "Well, I'll be heading this way, towards the river." She slunk away into the undergrowth, using her calico fur to help her camoflauge into the pattern of light-and-dark created by the foliage. Pausing by an old willow tree, she tasted the air. Most of the scent trails were stale--some water vole, mouse, maybe a sparrow or two. But out of the fresher scents... squirrel! Pleased, Hazelshade whipped around and headed deeper into the territory, where the trail led.

Snowstar greeted both apprentices. "We need to collect supplies for the camp. It is going to rain soon and it seems like it could last a while. I want to make sure that we are prepared for everything." Her tail flicked from one side to the other. It was pretty obvious that she was worried about how they would cope with long term rain. Especially if the prey is hiding the whole time. "We need to reinforce the medicine cat dens and the nursery. It will be important to keep the herbs, queens and kits warm and dry. Then we can focus on the warrior and apprentice dens. But don't pass up on a chance to catch prey if one arises. We need to be prepared. She nodded to the other she-cats and dismissed them with a flick of her tail. "We will be better off splitting up." She stood back up and padded out of the camp and headed into the undergrowth to find some leaves and branches they could use to reinforce the dens.

Oakheart walked inside of the den, letting out a sigh. I hope today's tasks won't be too tedious. Oakheart thought in his head as he approached the cats. "What can I do to help?" He asked confidently.

"I'll make sure the herbs are stored somewhere safe." Streamstar meowed. She looked around, wondering where her deputy, Torrentheart, was. Usually he'd be out in the clearing assigning patrols. She left Silverlily and Ripplepaw, and padded over to the medicine den. Poking her head in, she meowed, "Berryleaf?"
"Yes Streamstar?" the medicine cat meowed in reply. "What is it?"
"A storm is coming, and I fear the river may flood. It'd probably be best to move the herbs somewhere safer. You remember the place don't you?"
Berryleaf nodded. Deeper in the territory, where the ground sloped upwards, there was a rocky outcropping with a small cave in it that made a great temporary storage place for herbs. The flood waters would never reach that high. The medicine cat began to gather some of each herb in a leaf wrap.

"Oh, no battle training today then." Ripplepaw sighed. Not that he didn't mind the mindless task of fortifying the dens; it would give him time to daydream, though he preferred the adrenaline-spiked battle training. But the pick of the fresh-kill was certainly promising. He hoped someone would bring back some trout, then hoped he wasn't drooling in front of his mentor and leader.
Ripplepaw looked around, surveying the sturdy reed structures. "Okay, which one first?" he meowed. "How about the apprentice den? I kind of overslept," he added sheepishly.

Silverlily shook her head. "It's fine. But nursery first," she corrected. "It's the closest to the river. Then warriors', apprentice's, and elder's den last, because it's the one furthest into camp." She poked around the nursery walls for a moment before turning back to her apprentice. "We'll need lots of reeds and bracken," Silverlily went on. "And some brambles. Not a lot. They'll be useful for weaving everything together securely." The tabby warrior paused doubtfully for a moment, then shrugged, gesturing for Ripplepaw to follow her out of camp.

Re: River/Thunderclan RPG: The Flood
Silverstream was too focused on her tracking to hear Hazelshade say that she would be wandering off. Her ears pricked as you caught a whiff or a field mouse and it was fresh, too. She lowered her underbelly to the ground and slowly stalked forward, careful not to make a sound. When the mouse came into sight, Silverstream froze a second to measure her leap before she pounces and finished off the mouse with a quick bite. Turning around, quite pleased with her catch, she expected to see Hazelshade but when she didn't she simply shook her head, expecting she wandered off hunting again. The silvery she-cat dug a quick hole under a tree where she could collect it later and covered it up before returning to her hunting.

Featherstorm yawned, the last remenants of her dreams of hunting quickly fading away. Her stomach growled, and she decided that she should go out hunting with someone. She slowly padded out of the den and looked around. Everyone seemed to be busy except for Oakheart. "Morning Oakheart," she meowed, "Would you like to go hunting with me? We could try by Sunningrocks."

Surprised, Oakheart nods in agreement. "I'm not quite sure where everything is yet around here, so I will have to follow you." Oakheart said, almost feeling a bit embarresed due to how dependent he feels. Gah! I feel like such a naive idiot! I could at least make it seem like I am more confident! he thought in his head.

"Don't worry, its fine," Featherstorm meowed, smiling, "I'll show you the way." She padded towards the entrance, glancing back to make sure Oakheart was following. She walked along the side of the river, and after going several taillengths, she raced along the shore of the river, enjoying the feeling of mist on her fur.

Oakheart gave a single nod and when the two felines arrived to the river, he ran besides her a little confused as to why she was running. As Oakheart ran along the shore, he felt a wave of energy inside of him.

Soon, Featherstorm could see Sunningrocks across the river. She slid into the water, and gracefully swam across, climbing onto one of the rocks on the other side. "Are you coming?" she called back to Oakheart. She quickly scented the air, and noticed fresh Thunderclan scent. "A Thunderclan patrol must have just came this way," she meowed to herself.

Silverstream stopped and looked back over in the direction of the River. What was that? The silvery she-cat looked around for a second wondering if she should find Hazelshade before going to investigate. "Hazelshade? Was that you?" After a few more heart beats she couldn't stop herself any longer. She padded over in the direction of the river, weary of what she might find.

Chasing Featherstorm from behind, he swims to the rock and notices her facial change as she spoke. A little confused and curious, Oakheart felt that he had to ask. "What's so wrong about a Thunderclan patrol?"

Re: River/Thunderclan RPG: The Flood
Hazelshade had almost missed the squirrel. She'd gotten it in the end, but it had been a messy kill. The shift in direction of the wind was partly to blame, but she also hadn't been paying enough attention to the ground beneath her. Snapping a twig was the biggest newbie mistake in the world. Muttering under her breath, she stowed the squirrel into a hole under an elder bush and covered it with a rock. The calico she-cat tasted the air again, and was about to follow the trail of a mouse when she heard, faintly, her name. "Silverstream?" Hazelshade called back, confused. There was no reply immediate reply. Or maybe she just wasn't loud enough. "Silverstream?" She repeated after a few moments. Okay, now I just feel stupid talking to trees. Nevertheless, she abandoned the mouse and decided to go and track down her Clanmate. Wherever she was.

"There's nothing wrong with a Thunderclan patrol," Featherstorm meowed, confused to why he was asking, "We're allies after all. I just noticed that a patrol must have just came by." She found a comfortable spot on the rocks and saw a dark shape moving through the water. She was about to catch the fish, when she heard a faint rustling in the bushes in Thunderclan territory. The Thunderclan scent was to strong for her to tell whether it was a cat or not. "Hello?" she called out, "Is someone there?"

Silverstream had just made it to the edge of the undergrowth when she had heard a cat call out. "That would be me. What are you all doing here with the weather changing?" She was confused at the sight of the pair just lying on the rocks. Is Riverclan not worried about preparing for the storm? The silver tabby was a bit tense with the two Riverclan cats who seemed so relaxed at Sunningrocks. She looked between the two curiously. "Who are you two?"

Oakheart stares at the Silver cat, almost falling in awe at her beauty. He heard and understood her question, but he had troubles getting the simple words out of his mouth. Come on you idiot! Just tell her your name! He thought to himself, a little dissapointed that he couldn't do such a simple task. "I'm Oakheart and this is Featherstorm." He said trying to sound confident. "Who are you?"

Re: River/Thunderclan RPG: The Flood
Hazelshade heard them way before she actually saw them. The undergrowth by Sunningrocks were ruthless, she decided. Brambles where everywhere, ready to snag you the moment you wanted to get somewhere, preferably within the next moon. Impatiently, she barged through the ferns and squeezed between two holly bushes before finally appearing a few fox-lengths away from Silverstream. Her Clanmate was standing close to the border, facing two RiverClan warriors. Yech, Hazelshade could smell their particular fishy scent from all the way where she was. As she crept closer, she picked out the details. A tom and a she-cat, both relatively young, gray-ish in color. And she recognized the she-cat from Gatherings. Feather-something. Feathersnow, maybe, she thought absently as she came up behind Silverstream. "Hi."

She dipped her head at the two before noticing Hazelshade had found her. "where were you?" she muttered under her breath. She looked back at the two strangers when they introduced themselves. Featherstorm? Wasn't she Featherpaw not long ago? But she didn't recognize the tom or his name. "I'm Silverstream," she mewed using her tail to gesture toward her tortoiseshell clan mate, "and this is Hazelstorm."

Blackstone padded towards Streamstar. "Hey, is it alright if I go and gather stuff to help Silverlily and Ripplepaw strengthen the dens? " he asked. He had decided that if he was allowed he would go to Sunningrocks and gather some bracken to weave into the reeds. Then he would go and get some mud to coat over the inside and outside of the dens to stop water and wind getting in, and to strengthen them and hopefully stop them falling over.

"Hazelshade," the she-cat muttered. "And I was hunting off by the river, the brambles got in the way when I was coming over. That's why I took so long." As she spoke, Hazelshade reached over to her left foreleg and tugged off a hooked thorn that was snagged into her fur.
