Re: Summer Olympics 2012
They tell them to run, pretty much. :I Horses already know how to. >.> I meant that the horses basically do everything.Brightstar wrote:Well, I think the person should get the medal. Cause seriously, when a person gets a medal, they can show it off. When the horse gets a medal, all it basically does is find out if its edible, then completely forget about it since they don't know what's its for. Besides, the horses wouldn't be able to race without their jockeys. The riders, if they're not experiencced, can ride a horse too fast and waste its energy for the homestretch. Or the person conserves too much energy in its horse, and they go too slow. You know what I mean? The people do some work too.

Re: Summer Olympics 2012
Not really. The riders have the strategy. For example, you know the track? The inner circle has the last length to run, so the riders will try to get their horses to run on that line. Besides, if the horses had to run by themselves, I doubt the would run in the right way, and unless you scared them without riding them, they wouldn't run at all. They could go the run way, blah blah blah. But the point is, what will a horse do with a medal anyways?

Re: Summer Olympics 2012
Well yeah, I know that. They do practically all of it, running the whole thing. And the horses do get awarded for it. I bet they get treats and stuff. And I don't think the horses would count the medal as a treat, since they don't even know what it is.

So they should both get credit! And a horse really has no use for a medal anyways. Anyways guys, let's talk about food If the silver medal were edible, what food would it be? (gold is cheese and bronze is chocolate

Cool smiley ^
The horses do most of the physical work, but the riders do most of the mental work. Not to mention, riders have to get in shape to ride a horse. It hurts if you don't have proper training. I guess a horse would hang its medals in its stable or at least display them separately? O.o riders keep their awards on display in their homes.
About the Olympics: does anyone know how many people the stadium in London can hold?

Re: Summer Olympics 2012
wow i should have thought of this sooner.
White Truffle would be the perfect silver medal. it's expensive (cuz it's rare) and it's a good size for a medal. tastes delicious. most people use its shavings only, but a whole mushroom. that's a good $250 right there for a silver medal.

that sounds delicious. :O But I think while horses might eat mushrooms, they don't eat chocolate or cheese. But yes, if the medals were for humans, I would first take a picture of them, then eat them.

Me too! Haha I don't think horses would like mushrooms either
Although of couse the mushroom would have to be cooked first XD
Other ideas: potato chips for Gold, SWEET potato chips for Bronze. Or caramel for Bronze :3

i don't think you need to cook a truffle. o.O
for bronze, something less expensive but still unaffordable, like... a jar of saffron? or chicken essence? or these bird's nest treats that are bottled in Asia.

The Olympic Games 2012 at London have begun!
What do you think of the opening ceremony?
Personally I think China was much more awesome, because London really doesn't have anything unique to show off.

Re: Summer Olympics 2012
The James Bond scene was impressive, though I'm not exactly sure it was the Queen who parachuted off the helicopter... It was great, but 2008 seemed better to me. In comparison, the performers this year could have just been volunteers who could shake their hips around and follow some easy instructions. In China, it was more coordinated and I felt that the drumming/dancing took more skill and concentration. All in all, it was still great, and it was an awesome start to the Olympics....
Still can't believe David Beckham didn't get chosen for England soccer team... >.<

I didn't watch all of it, but from what I know it seemed like the opening ceremony was simply famous Brotish people doing things they're good at. The torch was pretty cool, but I don't really want to watch teenagers dancing like they're street dancers and texting each other while dressed in 70's clothing.

Ikr? Or kids in their beds with British literature nightmares like Voldemort chasing them. Idk what that had to to with the Olympics.
The queen's act was pretty impressive though, I admit. And the torch was cool too.
I wonder how much it cost to make all of this.

Re: Summer Olympics 2012
I heard there's a seventy year Japanese elderly gentleman participating! He's been training for years. It's really inspiring. He first participated in the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo for horse racing. After that, he became a successful businessman. Now for over a year he left his home and wife and family and friends to Germany to train for the 2012 Olympics. He has to wake up at 5AM everyday and train, and has to do exercises and training the whole day. He looks really fit and he's really humble too. He thanks his wife for her patience and understanding (he has to leave her in Japan for a year) and other stuff like that. I was really inspired! I hope he does well

Wow, that sounds really cool!
Did you guys watch gymnastics? What do you think?
It was really cool to watch the US team. Gabby Douglas is really good so I wasn't surprised she made it. And Aly is epic on the floor exercise. But I was surprised when Jordyn didn't make it to the All Around because she's really good too. She was just a fraction of a point away. And to see her crying...

i watched the men's artistic gymnastics finals today! :O such a sad story for Japan's team. they were trying for gold all those years, and their best player fell off the high bar in the 2011 World Championships. then today, he fell off the pummel horse and i'm not sure if that cost them the silver ):

Re: Summer Olympics 2012
Ok so here's how it went: China was first, no competition. Then the UK was 2nd and Ukraine was 3rd. Japan was 4th. In the Japanese guy's routine, he was going to do a handstand then dismount the pommel horse, but he slipped wile doing the handstand and fell off anyways. That cost him a lot. But then the Japan coach complained to the judges, sending them an inquiry that said the guy should get some points back because he did do the handstand before dismounting. After a lot of reviewing footage and arguments, the judges decided, yes he did complete the handstand before slipping and falling/dismounting. This moved Japan all the way up to 2nd place and Ukraine was out of the podium. And the UK wasn't happy. So, no offense but right now I am not happy with Japan at all.
