Yay or Nay?
Involving Genetics in Litters?
First topic message reminder :
Well, I come from another site, and over there they're really big on genetics for litters and such. I was wondering if you guys have anything like that over here. I'm training in genetics too, so if there isn't, and people are interested in incorporating it here, I could gladly help! It would make for a more realistic RP, in my opinion.

Re: Involving Genetics in Litters?
I'm confused, how abot we make it as simple as this
black cat x white cat = black and white cat
white cat x white cat = Snowlily
black cat x white cat = black and white cat
white cat x white cat = Snowlily

Re: Involving Genetics in Litters?
I like the Idea and I love Genetics but there are some members here that don't know/understand what they are, or how to use them. (And some probably don't want to learn until they have too...) I think we would be fine if we just keep it realist. It would be a lot more simple any way.

I like the idea. I'm a complete nerd, trust me, so I understand what your going on about. But how would we get the thing working? It would be a FABULOUS idea if you or an admin could get the program working, and easy to use for 'not so willing' members.

Re: Involving Genetics in Litters?
Yeah, I was thinking that some people could train in genetics and people would ask them what the possibilities for their litters could be and that would be it. It's worked effectively before on a MUCH larger scale, so why won't it work on a smaller scale? Our at least that's what I think. I'm just a nerd who's a stickler for the rules and realism and stuff.

I'd like to change my vote. Could you edit the topic so that I can change my vote?

Re: Involving Genetics in Litters?
I vote nay. I don't like the idea, because then you can't make the kits unique. I mean, if you're reading warriors, I don't think everything in that is true with real cats, so why should this be real? Then most kits couldn't have blue eyes without at least one eye being blind, which is a favorite eye color, or have purple eyes, as they're rare. I mean, this might ruine the fun of making your cats and/or kits. Warriors aren't fully realistic, so why should they be in this?
That's my opinion.

-.-` What I meant, you can keep it realistic with out them. You can tell the difference between a nonrealistic litter and one that makes sense.
Ex. A Black cat+ White cat= Dark Ginger tom with Strange red eyes. (Thats not the realist, but I know this Without using genetics.)
Ex (2). Black cat+white cat= Black cat, White cat, or black and white cat. (Realistic with out genetics...)

Re: Involving Genetics in Litters?
I agree! We can make them look realistic without genetics. Like, I doubt the Erin Hunters used genetics on Firestar's kits.
Firestar=Blazing ginger tom with bright green eyes
Sandstorm=Tan she-cat with bright green eyes
THEIR KITS
Squirrelflight=Ginger she-cat with bright green eyes and one white paw. [She looks a lot like Firestar]
Leafpool=Tabby she-cat with amber eyes [She looks like Princess]
So we can make them look realistic without genetics.

Re: Involving Genetics in Litters?
Well, this is just a suggestion. If you guys don't like it, then we can say that and call it a day. I like genetics, but if you guys don't, then that's what you want. We can agree to disagree, right?
Oh, and I don't know how to change the votes thing so I'm just going to cancel it.

Re: Involving Genetics in Litters?
If you mean using genetics in roleplay on this site, I don't think that would go over well. There would be many pointless arguements caused by confusion over cat genetics.

Re: Involving Genetics in Litters?
I just mean to use genetics in litters IF the parents want to. That's all.

Re: Involving Genetics in Litters?
Well what I don't like about this is if one of the parents wants to have genetics, and the other doesn't, it'll just start a fight, or one will have to give up their idea.
