My version or Werepyre's version
Genetics (simple) My version of Werepyre's introduction
Instead of all these letter thingies, how about we have a simpler way of genetics, making litters more realistic, without confusing anyone.
Here:
black cat x black cat = black cat
white cat x grey tabby = light grey tabby, or grey and white tabby.
blue cat x chocolate point siamese cat = lilac point siamese cat
Anybody get it now?

That's not genetics... That's simply being realistic.

Oh... I would think my way is much simpler, though.

Wait what do you mean genetics? WCF never had things for genetics before...

A member brought up the idea, I believe.

Re: Genetics (simple) My version of Werepyre's introduction
Werepyre had a very complex explanation of genes and inheriting them and such I think it was a suggestion, though I'm on my iPod right now so I don't really want to waste any more battery trying to find it ^^
I agree with Eaglestrike that this is simply realistic. Genetics is very complicated and it involves inheriting traits and chromosomes from not only your predecessor but from older generations, too. That's why the kit may not look like their parents; they could inherit their grandparents' or aunt's genes and such. The same thing applies to humans.
(sorry I just had a unit on genes so I'm not actually as smart as I sound)

And Lunar, we don't know what traits are dominant. It would be really confusing, and you would have to add lots of other cats to your family tree.

Its simple, you just combine to two cats' appearances.I believe my starting thing made it pretty clear. Sha'll I add more examples?

Re: Genetics (simple) My version of Werepyre's introduction
well, my last explanation was simplified, but here is another example:
you do inherit your mother's and father's genes, but let's say your mother has brown eyes and so does your dad. the baby will have a high chance of having brown eyes; however, your mother/father may also have chromosomes from their mother/father (your grandparent) who had blue eyes. the chromosomes just weren't "turned on" when they were born. so, when you were born, you also inherited that chromosome, except it was "turned on" when you were born, making you have blue eyes but both your parents having brown eyes.
that's why it's okay to have a kit who looks almost completely different.
combining the two appearances of your mother and father is reasonable and realistic, but it goes much further than that, into past generations.

Re: Genetics (simple) My version of Werepyre's introduction
Hold on, am I missing something? Since when was there something on genetics? And I think it doesn't really matter what the cats look like, as long as they have a good personality or whatever, it's their character that matters.
And with cats, it's not always about the dominant traits either because a black cat and a white cat could have a tortoiseshell, black, white, and tabby all in one litter because of the traits passed down from their ancestors. It doesn't mean they all have to be black even though black is dominant.
