Moonpaw smiled and then flattend her ears and whispered "I am so dead! Waterflame will have my tail! After all, he is my father!!!" she looked at Earthpaw and sighed sadly "When will we be able to go home after the fire???" she mewed

Earthpaw laughed then shrugged. "I dunno, maybe a moon or two?"

Splashstep suddenly padded into the river. He disappeared from sight and soon came back with a large dark brown tom.

Splashtail saw the twolegs running away, so she jumped into the river and kicked up with her back legs, making a small wave of water splash onto the fire. "Everyone do what I'm doing!" she yowled.

Dreamstar jumped into the river and did the same. The fire died down, but they need more cats to help. "Help us!" Dreamstar demanded.

Waterflame shoved his kit into the water and shoved Earthpaw into the waters after her. Then he fourisouly flung water at the fire like it was the cause of all off his problemes like Moonspike's death after she had her kits and then Moonpaw only suriving. Waterflame flung water all over the fire snarling as he went.

The fire died down alot more, then it was just a tiny flame. Dreamstar kicked the water one more time and the flame went out. "The fire has been put out!" Dreamstar cheered.

Splashstep smiled, water streaming from his pelt. "Good job everyone!" he mewed.

Earthpaw shook out her pelt and grinned happily.

Stoneshadow's eyes were wild. Soot stained his pelt making him black as night. Huge flames came roaring through the forest behind him. Twolegs were making no attempt to stop the fire and running toward the nearby hills. In the distance, far far away he heard a loud scream of some sort. Like some off alarm. He pounded through the forest, blood roaring in his ears. Stoneshadow skidded to a stop. His eyes were wide in alarm as fire rose around him. He narrowed his eyes and fearlessly raced forward leaping over the fire. He landed but kept running. He saw the river and scented a familiar comforting smell. WaterClan! Thank StarClan, Im glad they made it out ok He thought. Stoneshadow leaped over his friends like a shadow above them and landed smiling slyly. "Hey. Are you all ok?" Stoneshadow asked panting.

"Yes, we're all safe. Where were you?" Earthpaw asked worriedly.

Splashstep smiled at Stoneshadow. "You've got soot all over you, wash it off in the river. You too Earthpaw, your pelt is still covered in soot." he mewed.

Earthpaw nodded and did as she was told.

Waterflame drugg his kit out of the water where she coughed "Too much smoke dad!!!" he gently ebcrouaged her up to her paws and looked at Stoneshadow with out saying anything but his eyes asked Is the camp gone Stoneshadow???!!!!

Stoneshadow washed his pelt off in the river. The light grey suddenly appeared glistening as water droplets hung shining on his pelt. He drank some water before mewing. "I was out hunting and I saw some crows fleeing into the sky and I saw smoke quickly rising. I raced back to camp and I knew that it would soon be burnt and gone. I made sure no one was left in camp ,which no one was left behind, and I managed to save a couple herbs. I buried them close by the camp so they wouldnt be destroyed. I was afraid I might drop the herbs. I stopped some of the fire with the river but..." Stoneshadow stopped pain and sadness in his eyes. "It-it was too late. I had to get out. The camp was burned... its all my fault. Please forgive me..." Stoneshadow whispered hanging his head in misery.

"It's not your fault!" Earthpaw frowned. "Any of us would've done the same thing. You are brave." she continued, her green eyes full of honesty. Splashstep nodded in agreement. "That was indeed very brave. You did well."

Stoneshadow lifted his head and smiled slightly. "Thanks." He mewed still feeling to blame for the burnt camp. All of a sudden, the forest felt quiet, much too quiet. It was as if the forest was lifeless. A chill ran along his spine and he felt his veins turn icy cold. "This isn't right... its like the forest is dead." He whispered breaking the deathly silence.

Earthpaw nodded, shivering too. "We should be going..." Splashstep mewed nervously.

Stoneshadow shook out his fur and eyes the sky. It seemed like there would be no rain and be terribly dry. "We should find some cool shelter and get out of this forest quickly before it catches fire once more. Its very likely to happen. I'll go get the herbs." He mewed turning away from the group and walking towards camp.

"Wait, can I go with you?" Earthpaw called, bounding after him.

Stoneshadow turned around and smiled warmly. "Of course." He mewed stopping and waiting for Earthpaw.

Earthpaw quickly caught up to Stoneshadow and returned his warm smile. She padded in silence for a moment. "That was very brave ya know.." she said softly.

Stoneshadow smiled. "Anyone could have done it." He mewed modestly licking his broad shoulder.

Earthpaw shook her head and smiled. "Thanks for trying to save the camp. We'll find a place to restore it soon." she mewed.

Stoneshadow smiled happily "No problem." He mewed. "Were close to the herbs." He added. Stoneshadow padded over to a small and shriveled soot stained tree. Stoneshadow dug at the ground. Stoneshadow sat up with a bundle of herbs in his mouth.

"Here I'll take some." Earthpaw mewed,gently grabbing the rest from the pile. Just as she was pulling her head out of the hole, she accidentally bumped her head against Stoneshadow. "S-sorry." she stuttered, slightly blushing.

Stoneshadow's eyes grew wide and he started to blush also. He giggled uneasily and smiled sheepishly.

Earthpaw looked into Stoneshadow's eyes for a few moments and smiled. "We should be heading back..." she mewed, looking away.

Hurt flashed in his eyes as Earthpaw turned away from him. He nodded and led the way back following the others scent.
