Chapter 1
She felt the wind. The moors. The hills. Cats busily working. Hunting. Patrolling. She felt the beating of hearts all around her. Applekit opened her eyes. The nursery! She thought. Its HUGE! She stared around the nursery and looked around her. Next to her, her two brothers were asleep. All of a sudden a jolt of memory struck her. I almost forgot! Once we are all up we can go outside the nursery! "Bramblekit! Sootkit! Wake UP!" She squealed. Sootkit yawned and mumbled "Cherryblossom its probably dawn..." Applekit rolled her eyes. "Wake up you toms! Its the day we get to go out of the nursery!" She yowled. Bramblekit opened his eyes and jumped to his paws. "Lets go Sooty! Were going outside!" Bramblekit who was the biggest strongest oldest kit, pushed Sootkit. Sootkit tumbled to his back. "Alright alright Im up." Sootkit said. He got to his paws and shook out his black fluffy fur. Applekit led the way out her head lifted high. The sun dazzled her eyes as she padded out. She squinted. "Sure is bright." Bramblekit squeaked. Applekit looked around. Cliffstar and Snowfall were talking quietly in a corner of the camp. Boring Applekit thought. What are the apprentices up to? She thought. "Guys lets see what the apprentices are doing!" Applekit suggested. "Ok!" Her brothers said merrily. The three kits looked around stumped. "Er one problem Applekit." Sootkit said. "Where is the apprentices den?" Applekit looked around searching for Whitepaw. She always came to clean the nursery and Applekit always liked to talk to her and keep her company. Then she spotted Whitepaw padding into the camp with a rabbit dangling from her mouth. "Over there!" Applekit squealed and she raced over to Whitepaw with her brothers at her heels. "Whitepaw! Whitepaw!" Applekit yowled. "Were finnally out of the nursery!" Whitepaw looked around and saw Applekit. She smiled. "Applekit! Your out of the nursery! Congrats you three!" Whitepaw said smileing. Applekit raised her head proudly. "You'll be apprentices in no time." Whitepaw told them. "But for now how about i give you three a tour of the camp?" The kits nodded happily. "Over here is the apprentices den." She said. At that moment, Foxpaw and Harepaw padded out of the den. They nodded to Whitepaw and Whitepaw nodded back. "Now." Whitepaw said as they padded on to the next den. "Be ready little ones. Elders always love new kits. If your not careful Winterblossom will keep you there to Moon-high!" They padded in the den. A dark gray tom lifted his head and smiled. "Oh Winterblossom! The kits have made it out of the nursery!" A pure white she cat came out from the back of the den. "Kits!" She cried. "Hello little ones my name is Winterblossom and hopefully you know you are kits of WindClan and I hope you know that the one giving you a tour is Whitepaw and that this is the Elders Den and that me Sparrowflight and Wildstorm are elders and-" Before Winterblossom could go on Whitepaw lifted her tail. "Enough now Winterblossom they know." Whitepaw said giggling. "Oh yes yes sorry little ones. I guess what Im trying to say is welcome to WindClan!" Winterblossom said smiling. "We must get going now Winterblossom, goodbye!" Whitepaw said waving her tail and heading for the exit. "Goodbye dearies! Come back and visit us!"

Chapter 2
After the tour Whitepaw gave them they were hanging outside the nursery when Cliffstar and Snowfall padded over to the fresh kill pile. Applekit watched as they both sat down sharing a hare. The she got an idea. "Hey Bramblekit Sootkit." She whispered leaning over to whisper in her brother's ears. "What is it?" Bramblekit asked pricking his ears. Applekit smiled. "There is still one den we havent looked inside yet and thats Cliffstar's den." Sootkit's eyes widened. "You and your ideas Applekit." Sootkit said smiling shaking his head. "Well? Are you toms in for it? Or are you too scared?" Applekit asked them narrowing her eyes smiling. "Im in." Bramblekit declared. Sootkit looked from his brother to his sister. "I might be the most sane cat of this group but you wont leave me out Im in." Sootkit said smiling. "Lead the way Applekit!" Bramblekit said whispering. Applekit dropped down in a crouch and crawled forward at the edge of the camp. Her brothers followed her close behind. She kept an eye on Cliffstar and Snowfall. They were both just starting to eat and they were talking to the senior warriors. Applekit reached Cliffstar's den and peered inside. "Empty." She reported back to her brothers. Then she slid inside. In the den, the ground was very soft and sandy. There was a small mossy nest. And a little ledge. Applekit squealed with delight as she crawled up onto the ledge. "Let play a game!" She called to her brothers. "What kind of game?" Sootkit asked. "A leader game. I'll be the leader and we can pretend Sootkit is a warrior of .... ShadowClan! Bramblekit you can be the deputy. And then we'll switch roles! Ready? Lets go!" Sootkit raced out from the back of the den and pounced on Applekit. Applekit squealed and kicked Sootkit off. "Bramblekit! Lets team up and attack!" She called. "Yes Applestar!" Bramblekit called back to her. Then Sootkit launched himself at Bramblekit into Cliffstar's nest. The two toms rolled about their paws sheid but batting their paws about and kicking and squirming under one brother or the other's grasp. Applekit laughed. Then she joined into the fight. All of a sudden she heard paw steps. "Bramblekit Sootkit Cliffstar's coming! Look natural!" She cried. The kits lined up and put a huge grin on their faces. One split second later Cliffstar and Snowfall came in. Cliffstar's eyes widened as he looked around the room. Moss was scattered everywhere and feathers and some bracken. The den looked like a mess. The kits got very scared and nervouse. Oh no! What if he never lets us become apprentices! Applekit and her brothers just sat their smiling nervously. Snowfall rolled her eyes smiling. "Little ones." Snowfall began. "What exactly happened here?" She asked. Her brother looked at her raising their eyebrows. Applekit sighed. "Er... we kinda played leader and I was the leader and then Sootkit was a ShadowClan warrior and Bramblekit was the deputy. Then Sootkit and Bramblekit and me got in a play fight and we kinda.... ruined your nest Cliffstar." Applekit whispered. Then she looked down at her paws. Her brothers did too. "Were sorry." The three kits mumered sadly. "Well I forgive you kits but Im sure Cherryblossom wont be happy little ones." Cliffstar warned. "Oh great." Bramblekit mumbled. The kits padded out of the den and back toward the entrance of the nursery. Later that day Cherryblossom stormed over to the kits. "You went in Cliffstar's den!" She cried. The kits nodded without saying a word. Cherryblossom looked upset. "A rule in a clan is to not go into the leader's den unless you have been invited in or if you would like to speak to the leader you must call and ask from the entrance. You are to go and clean up his den With his permission." Cherryblossom then turned and padded toward Pinefur. Applekit sighed Oh great. What a mess we'll have to clean She thought remebering the nest.

(The Gathering, very important part of this story, we will be seeing this in Cliffstar's eyes)
Chapter 3
Cliffstar raced through the moors and down to the gathering. He raced in with his clan close behind. As WindClan mingled with the other clans Cliffstar padded over to the leaders,Moonstar a silver she cat leader of RiverClan,Blizzardstar a white tom leader of ThunderClan,and Hawkstar a dark brown tabby tom leader of ShadowClan. The leaders all dipped their heads kindly toward him. All except Hawkstar. His eyes were cold and his claws were unsheathed. Cliffstar narrowed his eyes and stood next to Blizzardstar. Moonstar yowled and the clans went silent. Moonstar lifted her head. "RiverClan has been doing well and their are plenty of fish in our rivers and streams. Also Frostpetal had 2 beautiful kits Lilackit and Flowerkit." The clans cheered happlily calling out the kits names. "Lilackit Flowerkit!" Moonstar stepped back and Blizzardstar stepped forward. ThunderClan has been doing well with plenty of prey." Blizzardstar finished and stepped back. Hawkstar raced forward. "ShadowClan of course has been doing great. And Cliffstar, WindClan will stop there nonsense and you know what I mean Cliffstar." Hawkstar growled. Anger burst in his stomach. How DARE he! "Hawkstar you will not do that to my clan. Those are WindClan cats!" Cliffstar snarled. Hawkstar smiled menacingly. Cliffstar narrowed his eyes. "Anything else you'd like to say Hawkstar, thats not about WindClan." Moonstar asked him. Hawkstar narrowed his eyes and stared at a young black tom with amber eyes. "No." He said coldly. The black tom's eyes widend and his jaw dropped. He stood up. "Hawkstar there is something you need to say! That we have a new warrior! Me Ravenfrost!" The balck tom yowled. Hawkstar looked mad. Very mad. Meanwhile the clans cheered "Ravenfrost Raven-!" Hawkstar growled and yowled. "Stop! Enough! ShadowClan we are leaving!" Ravenfrost looked heartbroken. He padded slowly after his clan. Cliffstar watched him. StarClan bless his heart. Cliffstar thought. The rest of the clans looked completely stunned. Cliffstar shook his head. "WindClan!" He called out. "Lets go home. I'll see you Moonstar, Blizzardstar." He said. "Goodbye." The leaders said. As Cliffstar led the way back to camp Snowfall hurried up to him. "What happened back there Cliffstar and why was Hawkstar so upset?" Cliffstar kept walking his focus ahead of him. "Cliffstar, why wont you tell your own deputy?" Snowfall asked him. Cliffstar sighed. "When we get back to camp get something to eat and then come to my den." Snowfall nodded "Yes Cliffstar." When they got back Cliffstar waited for Snowfall to come to his den. She peered into the den and called, "Cliffstar?" "Come in!" Cliffstar called back. Snowfall came in and sat down in front of him. "Now, simply ShadowClan wants the kits." Cliffstar told Snowfall. She looked shocked. "They want to steal them?" Snowfall cried gaping. Cliffstar nodded. Just then, Rippleleap raced into the den. "Its ShadowClan!" He gasped. "Were under attack!"

Chapter 4
Applekit knew something was wrong outside the nursery. She peeked her head out and saw so many unfamiliar pelts of cats she had no idea of who they were. And they smelled of rats and frogs and faintly pine. She watched as a dark brown tabby tom stepped forward. Cliffstar with his head held high padded forward with Snowfall next to him. "Hawkstar." Cliffstar mewed icily. "Cliffstar..." The cat known as Hawkstar snarled. "Applekit get back in here! Mother said to stay in the nursery at all times and that she will be back in any moment." Sootkit growled from inside the nursery. Applekit ignored him and listened carefully pricking her ears. "Cliffstar last chance before we cause blood shed through your clan." Hawkstar mewed menacingly. Applekit shivered. "You'll NEVER take the kits!" Cherryblossom shrieked. Applekit raced over to her brothers. "Its ShadowClan! They want to take us!" Bramblekit and Sootkit looked at each other. "Really?" They cried. She nodded. "Come! Listen! But be very quiet!" Applekit whispered. The kits crawled forward and peeked their heads out. Now Hawkstar was face to face with Cherryblossom. Cherryblossom had a look of horror on her face. "And you Cherryblossom cant do anything about it." Hawkstar said snarling. Applekit narrowed her eyes. "I'll teach that furball!" Applekit squeaked. And she squeaked a little too loud for Hawkstar heard. Hawkstar smiled and he padded forward toward the nursery. The ShadowClan cats formed a line in front of the WindClan cats. Cliffstar hissed in a light brown toms face. Hawkstar was getting ever so close now. "Hide!" Bramblekit whispered. They all hid together tightly behind some wood. Hawkstar padded in. The kits saw his shadow as he looked around. "Little kit. Where could you be? You cant hide. Let me point that out." Hawkstar growled. Hawkstar turned around and saw behind the logs the kits. Applekit gasped as ice cold fear filled her heart. She froze in fear. She could feel Sootkit and Bramblekit shaking in fear. "There you are little ones. Dont worry this wont hurt a bit." Hawk star growled coming closer. He raised his paw and aimed at their heads. Time seemed to slow down. Applekit raced forward her claws unsheathed slashed at Hawkstar eye. Hawkstar screeched as blood came out of his eye. He closed one eye and yowled in frustration as the kits jumped on him clawing him with their claws. Time sped up as they clawed and clawed at Hawkstar. Hawkstar backed up. The eye Applekit had scratched was open. One more hit them Mommy and Daddy will come and save us! Applekit growled and leaped in the air as high as she could go and slashed his eye once more. Hawkstar roared in agitation. He stumbled back and stared at Applekit coldly with his other eye. "This isnt the end Applekit!" He yowled. Then he backed up and Applekit heard him call, "ShadowClan! Lets get out of here!"

Chapter 5
4 moons had passed. Cherryblossom was franticly licking her kits. "Mother! We'll miss our ceremony if you dont let us go!" The kits squeaked." Cherryblossom smiled. "Alright. I love you my sweets and Im incredibly proud of you three." Cherryblossom said. She walked her kits outside. Applekit lifted her head. Happiness shined in Cliffstar's eyes. Applekit looked back at the nursery and saw Dapplekit and Dawnkit poke their heads out of the nursery. They raced toward Applekit. The kits were small. They were 4 moons old. Brindleflower had the litter 4 moons ago almost right after ShadowClan had invaded. Now it was time to show the clans what she was made of. She was becoming an apprentice. Sh elooked down at the little kits and they looked up at her. She smiled happily. "Dont worry kits! You'll be apprentices in no time and then we'll be den mates again!" She said happily. What Applekit was really happy about was being with Whitepaw and Featherpaw in the same den. Finnaly, Ive had enough of Dapplekit and Dawnkit for a while. They had followed me everywhere! Dapplekit and Dawnkit even though sweet were sometime annoying, asking questions and following her around. Now that she would have a mentor she would be with her mentor and they couldn't follow her out of camp! Cliffstar raised his head. "We will be having two ceremonys today! Whitepaw, Featherpaw step forward!" The two she cats stepped forward excitement rippling from their pelts. "Featherpaw from this day forward you shall be known as Featherstep, for your elegance and amazing speed, welcome to WindClan as a full warrior. Featherstep raised her head. Pure joy and delight filled her eyes. Featherstep padded over to Splashfrost. Splashfrost smiled and whispered over to her, "Congragulations Featherstep." Featherstep smiled. "Fetaherstep Featherstep!" The clan cheered.
Whitepaw cheered loudest for her sister. "Whitepaw." Cliffstar said as the cheering died down. "From this day forward you shall be known as Whitecloud, for your beautiful white fur and your courage and great heart. Welcome to WindClan as a true warrior." Whitecloud smiled as the clan cheered her name. Whitecloud raced over to Featherstep. "Now!" Cliffstar said clearing his throat. "It is time for our apprentice ceremony." Cliffstar said with a smile. "Sootkit please step forward." Cliffstar said. Sootkit padded to Cliffstar in front of the crowd. Sootkit was still quite small compared to Cliffstar. "Until this young tom has earned his warrior name he will be known as Sootpaw. His mentor will be Spiderstalk. I trust Spiderstalk you will pass on your fierce bravery and feirceness of loyalty to your clan to Sootpaw." Spiderstalk stepped forward smiling. The two black toms looked happy to have each other. They touched noses and went to sit down. "Sootpaw! Sootpaw!" The clan cheered. Cliffstar raised his head. "Bramblekit! Step forward please!" Cliffstar called. Bramblekit padded forward his head held high. "Until this strong tom has earned his warrior name he will be known as Bramblepaw. Your mentor will be Rippleleap. Rippleleap, you are one of my most trusted senior warriors. I know you will pass on your bravery courage and great heart onto Bramblepaw." Bramblepaw's eyes shone as Rippleleap stepped forward. The two toms touched noses and sat down with Sootpaw and Spiderstalk. "Applekit, please step forward." Applekit padded up to Cliffstar. She hadnt noticed until now how tall he was. All of a sudden she felt small once more. When Dapplekit and Dawnkit arrived she felt older and taller. Not so much anymore. "From this day until you have earned your warrior name you will be known as Applepaw. Your mentor will be Snowfall." Snowfall stepped forward from where the deputy stood. Snowfall bent down and they touched noses. Then Snowfall whispered in her ear, "Would you like to sit where the deputy sits young one?" Snowfall asked her. "It would be an honor Snowfall!" Applepaw cried. She sat down next to Snowfall and looked up at her. Snowfall bent down and whispered, "Applepaw we will get started after the ceremony. I promise I will make you the best warrior this clan has ever seen." Applepaw smiled. "Thanks Snowfall, I'll try my hardest and never give up!" She promised.

Chapter 6
"Applepaw! Applepaw!" The clan cheered. After that was a blur to Applepaw. The whole clan bombarded her with "congrats" and joy. She felt happy but she was ready to start training. Just then Whitecloud and Featherstep padded over to her. Applepaw realized for the secomd time that day how short she was. "Hey Applepaw!" Featherstep said. "Listen Applepaw Im sorry we arent your den mates anymore but were warriors now." Whitecloud told her. "Its alright." Applepaw replied. "Well... It cool you got the clan deputy for your mentor, you should be honored." Featherstep said. "Oh I am!" Applepaw squealed. Whitecloud's eyes widen. "Some advice Applepaw. Now that your an apprentice you better act like one." Whitecloud retorted. Featherstep gave a mrrow of amusement. Hurt filled her heart. "Oh and good luck being with Foxpaw and Harepaw. Their lousy lazy lumps of fur no wonder they arent warriors." Featherstep grunted. Whitecloud laughed. Applepaw growled. "Remember Apple! You can growl all you want but ya cant bite!" Whitecloud chimed. Applepaw felt a snarl coming. She wanted to bite them now. "J-Just be quiet!" Applepaw snarled. "Or else!" She said. Whitecloud narrowed her eyes then smiled. "Lets go Featherstep. We have better things to do." Whitecloud said to to sister. "Lets!" Featherstep sniffed. The two she cats walked away with their nose in the air. Applepaw narrowed her eyes. "You ready?" She looked behind her and saw Snowfall. "And dont mind them. Those two sister can be a real pain in the tail. I was talking to them yesterday and I told them they were going to become warriors tomorrow. Next thing I know their boasting to poor Harepaw and Foxpaw. The two toms were absolutely miserable the next day. Well anyway Applepaw I have a surprise for you today." Snowfall mewed. "What?" Applepaw asked her brightening up a little. "You'll see!" They raced out into the territory. The wind blew through her fur. It felt wonderfully free. "Welcome to WindClan." Snowfall said smiling. She breathed in the air. "I love it!" She cried. "I knew you would Applepaw!" Snowfall said smiling. "Now." Snowfall began. "Follow me!" Snowfall called. She raced after Snowfall. "First things first, territory."

Later that day Applepaw was so tired. She padded into camp her paws sore. "Go get something to eat Applepaw. You deserve it! you did wonderful today Applepaw!" Snowfall called to her. She got a small rabbit and sat down next to Foxpaw. "Hi! Im Foxpaw." The dark ginger tom said. "Im Applepaw its great to meet you." She said. "I made you a nest." Foxpaw said. "Too bad Whitecloud and Featherstep moved out of the apprentices den. Now your the only girl." Foxpaw said sheepishly. She smiled and nodded. "Yep..." She mumbled. "Is it alright if your nest is next to mine?" Foxpaw asked her while she was eating. She gulped and smiled. "I'm delighted to have my nest next to yours!" She said smiling. "Alright." Foxpaw replied smiling. Then they ate in silence no more to be said. That night she sunk into her nest. It was very comfortable. Next to her was Bramblepaw. "Ouch!" Bramblepaw cried. "What is it?" Applepaw asked her brother. "Theres a little bit of bramble in my nest! Ouch and its in my paw too!" He cried. Harepaw laughed. "Now your name really suits you Bramblepaw." The rest of us laughed. Maybe this wont be as bad as I thought Applepaw thought.

Chapter 7
Sootpaw opened his eyes. The light shone brightly in his eyes. He squinted and saw that the light was being blocked by a black shape. "Spiderstalk?" He mumered sleepily. "Get up apprentice its time to work!" Spiderstalk said smiling. Sootpaw got up and shook out his pelt. All the apprentices were fast asleep except Bramblepaw who was probably outside the den. About a three moons had passed since the first day of training. Spiderstalk was like a second father. "Ready?" Spiderstalk asked him. He nodded. They wokred and worked almost all day on battle moves and the rest of the apprentices came out practicing moves with their mentors sometimes teaming up with partners and doing teams. The sun was going down and they padded back to camp. They padded over to the fresh kill pile back at camp and ate. Applepaw was looking at Whitecloud eating with Featherstep. There was hurt in her eyes. Sootpaw felt bad for her but shrugged. She was sitting with Foxpaw. Everyone knew Foxpaw liked her. So he saw his brother and padded over to him. "Hey Bramblepaw!" Sootpaw said smiling. Bramblepaw looked upset pawing at his food. "Whats up?" Sootpaw asked him. Bramblepaw looked at his brother. "Its- It was training today. Why did we focus on battle move so much I mean why?" Bramblepaw said to Sootpaw. "I know why..." A dark deep sinister voice whispered. Bramblepaw's eyes widened and he looked at his brother. "Sootpaw!" Bramblepaw whimpered. They turned around. There stepped a huge tabby tom from the shadows. Hawkstar. All of a sudden cats popped up everywhere around the camp. Hawkstar padded forward gave Applepaw a icy stare and padded over to her. "Hey Applepaw, still go that scar." He said growling. Applepaw shivered. Hawkstar and Cliffstar stood nose to nose. "Were stealing your territory." Hawkstar growled. Before Cliffstar could say anything he yowled, "ShadowClan! ATTACK!" Cat surged everywhere around them. Sootpaw jumped to his paws completely forgetting his prey and raced forward. A young light brown tom raced forward. He went head first. Sootpaw jumped over him and bit him in the shoulder. The tom yowled and spun around narrowing his eyes. Sootpaw slid under his belly and raked his claws down his belly. He screeched in pain and jumped up in the air. Then he raced away screeching in pain. Sootpaw shrugged. He saw Bramblepaw batting at a black she cat and a dark brown tom was coming toward him. Sootpaw raced forward and hit the she cat off Bramblepaw. Sootpaw pinned her down and slashed her cheek. "Ouch!" She cried. "Off our territory!" Sootpaw growled. She raced away. All of a sudden Sootpaw felt a huge weight hit him down. Sootpaw gasped for breath. He was turned over and pinned down by Hawkstar. Hawkstar smiled evily. "Let me go! Please I beg you let me go!"
