Antheia laughed, "A reptilian egg or an apple from a talking tree? That's quite odd. Um... I have to say the apple. I want to know what the tree would say."

Emma raised her arms up, feeling the wind in her hair. "Woo! This is awesome!" she yelled.

((Short post is short.))

"Ha! Looks like I win!" Cadmus exclaimed proudly when Antheia said the apple was stranger. "I told you Nathan, eating a raw reptile egg is perfectly normal and natural, but eating an apple given to you by a talking tree is just strange, even if it was from Granny. That has to be similar to eating a hair or a nail from some other creature." Cadmus said, not reserved about his gloating.

"But she was a plant, not an animal. There's a huge difference, even if she had a face. Besides, she offered the apple of her own will after we drove off those basilisks, and as thanks for all the other times we've helped her and her forest out." Nathan said in his defense, though Nathan was smiling when he said it, glad to be on a more carefree topic even if only temporarily. Nathan wondered if Granny Appleseeds was doing alright these days, she may be one of only two talking trees in that entire forest but there are also a ton of woodland spirits and various magical creatures, and he wasn't sure whether or not the empress would go so far on her magic ban as to destroy entire forests for being home to magic beings.

Antheia giggled, "Both a reptile egg and an apple are edible, but I chose the talking tree because I'd like to know what the tree would say."
She had resided in the forest for a long time, but never encountered a talking tree. She's thought about it before, but it's never occurred.

Zora laughed and grinned massively wide the second Ruby took off. "Wheeee!" This is the first time she's ever done anything like this but dang it's fun. She was slightly listening to the conversations, something about eating eggs or apples from talking trees. She finds both strange but she doesn't have time to talk about that. She has to deal with this whole plan to find the assassin.

Nyx listened with a vague interest, eyes closed so as to hear the conversations better. Ruby seemed to want them all alive for reasons, so they might as well learn about them so that they could work against them if necessary. So far they hadn't said anything interesting, but that could change at any moment, and they didn't want to miss it. Ruby was sweet and strong, but she wasn't very good at planning things out, as shown by her current plot against the empire which had a 75% chance of getting them all killed, with the exception of her, who would be locked in a tower until the empress deemed her appropriately sorry. That would not do, so Nyx was putting themself in charge of planning as they skimmed through the surfaces of the rider's minds and catalogued their conversations.

With a roar and a stream of fire jetting from her nostrils, Ruby started to spiral down, wings beating with the sound of sails and tail tucked close to her body. They had reached the next city, and they could stay there for a short time while they tried to plan what to do next. A few hundred feet above the ground, she shifted back with the crack of bones, and they all went into free-fall.

Antheia gasped in shock as they went downwards. she squeezed Nathan once again, her eye tightly shut. She kept her head down, breathing somewhat heavily as they went into a free-fall.

Nathan was taken by surprise when they started to descend, and was completely unprepared for the free-fall. "Hang on tight Antheia! This is going to be a rough landing!" Nathan said as they fell. He didn't mention that what he was going to do is something he's only tested once and from a third their current altitude, but he certainly didn't see much choice. Focusing as best he could, Nathan began creating layers of wards along their fall path that were meant for stopping projectiles like arrows. He knew that he couldn't stop their fall even with ten wards, but with enough of them he should at least be able to slow them down enough for him and Antheia to land without injury.

As he braced for impact with the first ward, Nathan felt Cadmus shift and move so that he was wrapped around Nathan and Antheia like a belt, to keep them from being separated during the fall. "Brace yourselves!" Nathan yelled over the wind to Cadmus and Antheia just as they impacted the first ward, breaking through it almost effortlessly though Nathan still felt the impact. After falling about a third of the way to the ground Nathan was aware that they were actually slowing slightly, though he didn't pay too much attention as he focused on making new wards fast enough to keep up with their fall. As they fell through his wards and gradually slowed down, Nathan swore in that back of his mind that he would never fly without some sort of safety device prepared, and part of him hoped the other were alright, Nathan had been pretty sure that most of their party couldn't fly.

Antheia was still clinging to Nathan as they fell, unintentionally using him as a cushion. She was shaking as she slowly let go of Nathan, her eye wide with fear.
"This... did not... make me feel better... about heights... or flying." she said, pausing in between because of the shock.

Emma went down with an "oof". She stretched slightly, since she was tense because of the fall, and hopped off of Ruby. "That was a little rough."

Alex looked down at Emma. She grinned slightly. First she looked around the area. She sighed freely and looked at her friend once more with a more devilish grin. "Emma! Catch me!" She shouted and jumped off Ruby once the free-fall started.

Nathan gritted his teeth as they neared the ground, still going a bit too fast for his liking. "Here... comes... impact!" Nathan yelled as they approached the ground, preparing some of his stronger wards for the final stretch. After breaking through the last few wards, they finally hit the ground with a thud, and aside from his hurting legs, slight headache, and feeling tired after using that much magic, Nathan was glad to note that they were safe. "Well, we made it down safely. How are you holding up Antheia?" Nathan asked, sighing from the effort of his magic, though he didn't move so as to give Antheia time to recollect herself. Nathan paid little mind to Cadmus as the ichneumon moved back from wrapping around Nathan and Antheia's waists to being around Nathan's neck once again as Nathan regretted having felt slightly thrilled when they had first taken off.

"So, where are we now princess. I hope it's a good starting point for our assassin hunt because that was a rather harsh way to end the flight." Cadmus said to Ruby in a barely controlled voice, in a foul mood after having his and Nathan's lives put at risk like that. He hadn't even known that Nathan had come up with a way of cushioning a fall with wards, but he was glad the Yttris boy had because otherwise he and Antheia would have died and Cadmus would be committing the would-be suicidal act of attacking Ruby. But as things stood, Cadmus was able to just barely contain his anger, since Nathan had survived.

"We're in a place where we'll be safe and can plan how to do this, that's what. The guards will track us, but we're faster what with the flying. We need to figure out how to find the assassin, and we can rest here." Ruby looked a little sheepish after having dropped everyone and gone into free-fall, but she had honestly forgotten that most of them wouldn't survive if they hit the ground. She picked up Nyx again, bouncing them once or twice to a high-pitched shriek, and turned to walk into the inn that they had landed by, pulling out a bag of gold out of seemingly nowhere with her teeth and dropping it on the counter. "One room please, spelled for privacy. We'll pay extra for the illegality."

"I-I'm alright, I guess..." Antheia replied to Nathan quietly, "That didn't help my fear at all."
She felt magic flow to her fingertips, trying to hold it in. "I haven't used magic for so long, it's as if my body can't contain it anymore." she thought, before realizing, "I could have made a shield around me to make the impact less painful!
She sighed, feeling stupid, before looking back at Nathan.

Zora winced and groaned after the impact, eventually getting up and shaking herself off. She walked after thepincess and looked vaguely surprised when she realized where they were. Her parents used to work here and so did she, maybe her old cuddle buddy friend still worked here! She could enlist her help and possibly flee from the group.

"Yeah well, thanks to that I'm starting to feel that a fear of heights and flying might actually be healthy." Nathan said with a smirk, trying to hide the fact that he was still a little shaken and definitely starting to hurt after that experience. He noticed Cadmus huff in response to Ruby's answers, but Nathan was glad the ichneumon didn't push the matter any further. "Well I suppose we should follow, I personally can't wait to have a good meal and lay down in a bed." Nathan said to Antheia as he began slowly following after Ruby. Nathan was grateful when Cadmus hopped down to the ground, the extra weight had made moving difficult but at least now he can mask just how exhausted and sore he was.

"That sounds quite nice, actually." Antheia smiled, feeling slightly better. She felt a bit sore, but she didn't mind it. Being sore is a normal feeling for Antheia, since she lives in a small cabin in the woods without a legitimate bed.

Emma followed the group quietly, itching to activate her gem. She hadn't done it in days, which drove her crazy.

Once Alex was on the ground she was rubbing her back rapidly. Her concealment of her gem has been working so far. She believed no one say it. She was very personal about her gem. She came up next to Emma. "Feels better to be able to roam more freely than before without any walls or what ever to conceal us or chase us down?" She said in a whisper to her friend.

"Yeah it does!" Emma laughed, throwing her arms into the air. She loved feeling the wind through her curly red hair. She closed her eyes and sighed, listening to the leaves rustle in the wind.

Sahkrahfaas had watched intently when Ruby had carried all of the people she'd broken out of the prison into the sky on her back. He'd thought he could be of some use to the team, whatever they were planning to do, so he had camouflaged the entrance to his den and followed behind the red dragon. When the dragon and the rest of the people all fell from the sky, Sahkrahfaas flew around the area to find somewhere to make a temporary den. It looked like everyone was going into an inn for the night, and the city wouldn't take kindly to the dark brown dragon asking for a room there. He found a small cave quite close to the city, and he could fit in it, so he crawled in and made himself comfy. Sahkrahfaas was exhausted, and he was sleeping almost as soon as he laid his head on the ground.

The innkeeper nodded and handed over a key, and Ruby gave a sharp, piercing whistle, one pointed ear twitching at the sound as she called the attention of the others. "Well, c'mon! We have a room to stay in, and things to discuss, so get your butts in gear." And with that, she stomped up the stairs, jogging Nyx in her arms and once or twice pressing a kiss to their forehead. The key jingled around her wrist, hooked to one of her many golden bangles, and she bent her wrist back the wrong way to grab it and open their room, entering and sniffing for the requested privacy spells.

Zora easily kept pace with the princess and once inside flipped down on a nearby chair. The magick in the room seemed sound, she doubts they'll be disturbed. She looked up at the others, having a fully proper chance to examine all of them.

Nathan followed wordlessly after Ruby with Cadmus by his side. He was sore and tired and greatly appreciated a chance to rest and discuss what is going on in more detail. With a nod from Cadmus, Nathan entered the room that the princess had rented, noting that the magic seemed to match what had been requested, and Nathan sat in the first chair he could. As he sat, Nathan took this chance to get a better look over his current company, and he knew Cadmus was likely doing the same, since other than Antheia neither of them really knew the others in the group.

As soon as Antheia entered the room, she let her magic flow through her body, a flower seeming to grow from her hand. She sighed in relief as the tension left her body popping her wrist and her back. She looked at everyone in the group, the flower slowly going back into her hand.

Once she smelled the privacy spells (a tingling, burning smell that made you sneeze) she sneezed, high-pitched and rocking her head forward, before sitting on the edge of the bed, idly petting Nyx's tendrils as she thought of what to say. The shadow wasn't interested in what was going on, more tired and hollowed out still from their entire existence being blocked by the magic-blockers. They said things occasionally, but mostly they were leaving this whole scenario up to Ruby, who was looking around at the group with a scowl. "So. If we're going to be working together, I think we should all know a little bit more about each other. I'll go first."

She pushed Nyx to the side of her, standing and dipping into a curtsey, ruby colored silks billowing behind her. "I'm Ruby, as y'all know, and I happen to be the crown princess to the empire. I'm a dragon, and I want to get the law against magic rescinded for my own reasons, mostly to do with Nyx." She gestured at her companion and started up again, "This is Nyx. They're a shadow creature and my tanglebuddy, and their existence is illegal right now. What about the rest of you?"

Antheia looked at Ruby, "I'm Antheia. I'm a mage, and I use nature to my advantage, if that counts as anything." She opened up her hands, letting leaves and vines grow around the room. She snapped, causing them to disappear, and she smiled slightly.

Emma looked at Antheia, surprised by the odd power. "I'm Emerald. I'm what's called a Gem, and my gem, on my back-" she paused as her gem activated, her weapon attached to her back. She grabbed the handle and brought it around, a smirk now on her face, "-summons this guy."

Zora watched the other with avid interest, they may make good allies. She clears her throat a bit and absent mindedly twitches Her tail. "I'm Zora Whitefangs an a-Im a thief. Just a common thief, admittedly one who uses magick as well." She smiled a bit, assuming no one almost noticed her slip up.
