The Ghost In The Fortress

First topic message reminder :

Pain stalked through the harsh snow. He felt exposed - his mottled greenish, brown-black cloak did not match well with the icy-white swirls. However, moving at slow speed, one could easily mistake him for a rock. His senses remained on high alert, however, until he reached the safety of the Fortress. He would stay here until it was safe to move. The cats in the forest had become restless with the night, what was hidden the darkness. Tensions were high, but fear had grown too, and Pain had seen them searching for him. He had been on unknown land. The other cats had the advantage. Plus, he had seen the dog. It was big and strong, his nose was sharp. He would have to take care of it.

The storm didn't die down. The wind howled; summer came to no effect on these mountains. He saw the enemy patrol before they approached to Fortress. They were unaccustomed to the extreme conditions and their summer fur were not suited for the weather. There were looking for him. Pain melted into the wall. He would soon take care of them. The Fortress had many secrets. The master of shadows became invisible once more.

"Like what?" Blizzard asked.

Cheesefur was in the dark damp kitchen by herself. There was no sign that anyone could've or would've lived there. Even the water dripping from something rusty and long was frozen. She went into another room, where she found frozen cheese. "So much for food sources", she grumbled.

Pain watched from above. He would strike from behind. In one fluid motion, his body became shadow and reappeared as he came to the ground. He would take the tiger - he was straying behind everyone else.

The cats heard a sleek whisper, then a cacophony of shredding sounds. There came a dull thud.

Pain cleaned the blood from his paw. The water was frozen at the top so he had to brush away the layer of ice. The water turned crimson. He heard a cry of surprise. The cats had obviously found him. Pain headed upstairs. He would strike again.

Icestar shook off a feeling of someone watching her. it was just the creepy old house.... Or was it? Was the creaking of the floorboards the wind, or an unseen ghost? Icestar rolled her eyes. Now she was just paranoid. She left the group of leaders and circled around the group of cats to make sure everyone was okay, but some thing seemed like it was missing. Something big, white, and fluffy- "Bli- Bli- Blizzard! SHADOWSTORM!!!!" Icestar felt like she was about to fall over, and her paw dragged in something red and sticky.

Mosspaw bounded up. "What's wrong?" Then she screeched. With a single bound, Mosspaw was cowering behind Icestar's 'fluffah' tail.

Mistbreeze looked over and gasped. "Blizzard!" The massive white tiger lay on his side, eyes open and cloudy, his jaws locked in a furious snarl. Blizzard's pelt was ripped to shreds and still oozing blood. Mistbreeze grabbed Icestar's scruff and dragged her back.

"Blizzard!!" Put_Name_Here cried. "How did this happen?" She demanded. Tonight all the loners would grieve for the lost tiger.

~Yes i know.~ (Scratch doesn't mind god-modding) Scratch walked up to see what happend. The minuit she saw the dead loner she came tumbling over with tears in her eyes.

Stormclaw growled when he saw Blizzard's lifeless body. "The mountains are dangerous," he conceded. "But it should not be like this." He pointed with a paw. "Only a cat could've made such precise, clean rips in the flesh."

Mosspaw whimpered and crept over to hide behind Stormclaw, her Clanmate.

Sagedapple gave the young apprentice a sympathetic look. "We should move on," she meowed. "And stay in one tight group. Two leaders in the front, two leaders in the back, and strong warriors on either side of the patrol."

Tawnypelt had watched in horror as the cats grieved for Blizzard. She hadn't known the large, white tiger for long but she always felt safer when there was such a large, strong cat with fur that could blend in well with the surroundings on their side. But now, seeing the thick rivlets of blood staining the once-pristine fur, Tawnypelt realized someone (something?) very lethal, stealthy, and above all, cunning was running on the loose, and able to kill a huge tiger like Blizzard.

"No one lag behind," Tawnypelt added as Sagedapple said that they should move on. "If you're tired, say so."

"If we camp," Brightstar suggested, "At least 4 cats should guard, one on each side of the tempuary camp, like a square."

Icestar mrrowed. "Lotus-star, you have a challenge of leadership here! I will walk in the back. Tawnypelt, Shadowstorm, and Cheesefur, you cna walk at the edges of the group. Medicine cats and apprentices stay on the inside of the group.

Max whistled sharply from the river, icy droplets flew towards them. "Don't forget about me!"

Brightstar shook her head and sighed.

Sagedapple nodded. "Let's go!"
