Fetch woke up, seeing the sun slant through the tattered blinds and leaped to his paws. He yawned, looking for any other dog in the area. He really felt like raiding a food stash with somebody.

Clocks woke up, blinded by sunlight. His eyes adjusted and he glanced around his home. It was his old house, from before Cheryl and her family left along with the other humans. It was a two story with a once lovely basement. The torn wallpaper was once a maroon color and pale furniture scattered the living room he was sleeping in. The stairs were wooden and creaked as a mouse scurried up them. The older puppy stood up and walked away from his ripped up dog bed. He whimpered and slowly trotted across the dirty tile floor into the street outdoors. Clocks walked down the sidewalk, long nails clicking against the broken concrete, slowly wearing down.

Moonfur awoke to the blinding sunlight. She felt as if she had been sleeping on rough rocks. Since the twolegs left, she had been staying in an abandoned twoleg home with no dogs. This house was a 7 room house with faded red walls. She had an unlimited supply of mice and water. There were cracked tubes and vines growing on the wall. She hoped that maybe somewhere there was another cat to keep her company.

Stryker huffed as he wandered down the empty cobblestone street, his claws clacking softly on the stone. Pricking his ears, the border collie glanced around twice. Seeing, smelling, and hearing no one, Stryker turned and slipped into a narrow, alley that was almost invisible to outsiders. He had happened upon it by chance, and only with his intelligent mind had he been able to figure out a way to slip through the rubble without making a racket. Stryker's tail wagged slowly from side to side as he returned to his current home after his Twolegs had disappeared.

Other- Apocalypse was a show dog, powerful with his husky blood, sly and swift with his wolf ancestry, fierce and courageous with his traces of German Shepard. However, he is mostly neutral in the battle between the dogs and cats, seeing no point in waging war against the other species. He was named Apocalypse by his human owners because he was "the final destruction" to the humans and dogs that he hated. (Apocalypse's nickname is Ap.) He is cunning and quietly powerful, cold and rather distant. It is rumored that he was quite different before in his puppyhood.

Fetch looked out the frame of what once was a window. There were no other neighborhood dogs out. The Twolegs used to let them play together in the yard. He leaped down the flight of stairs in two bounds; pausing after his paws made a slight thump on the dusty floor. The fresh, beige paint was stained with things unknown. Deciding not to find out what those were, he slipped outside.

Moonfur walked away from the soft surface the twolegs left at the house that she was using as her bed. She stepped out of the entrance way and out of the house. She carefully looked around because she knew that when the twolegs left, some dogs were left behind. She went around the house and grabbed a mouse to eat from her secret food pile. Then she carefully made her way to the stone thing (that was like a waterfall) to eat.

Yowling a few times before barking instead, Fetch attempted to call his friends. He knew of a few dogs who lived on the same street but he couldn't see or hear them.

Moonfur dropped the mouse and slowly walked toward the barking dog. She could just make out what the dog looked like. It was a dog whose fur was brown with black splotches and had a rugged collar. The thing hanging on the collar said "Fetch" which meant that Fetch was his name. Suddenly she heard more dogs as if they were answering the call of Fetch. She quickly ran up the closest twoleg house to watch from the roof.

Never mind about all this.

Clocks made his way to the old park. All that was left was a rusty swing set, one supporting bar collapsed and a dirt play-area. Clocks sighed and found a rotting park bench. He hopped up in two leaps and sat down. Then he howled, and started remembering the dreadful times. Humans going crazy, sick from an unknown disease, destroying their own town then dying. The samoyed hung his head and whimpered, ceasing his howling.

Fetch heard a distant howl from another dog. The others may still be here! He walked the familiar route around his favourite fire hydrant and past the house with the yellow garage.
