" I'm your friend! If you don't trust me maybe I should leave! Or catch fresh kill in a clan territory and ask then to kill me!" Scratch's eyes blazed with fury she couldn't. Relive her freinds- the ones who she lived with cents they were all kits- were turning there backs on her! But she cooled down bit looked Brisingr in the eye and said " please trust me I've always loved you..."

Tenebris looked at Scratch blankly, a hint of cold anger in his eyes. "I don't want to share my history," he said bitterly. "My history has been nothing but pain." All this talking about pasts had started to unravel the ball of memories, and a single memory slipped out, the haunting fear in his sister's eyes as Tenebris's claws sliced her throat. Haunted. Oh, the cruel irony. He was the one who was really haunted. Tenebris turned and flung himself into the undergrowth, racing away from the others. He shot up a tree branch that bobbed for a moment under his weight. Tenebris huddled down, his eyes sweeping the path before him. Another memory slipped, of Tenebris crouched on a snowy oak, long claws unsheathed and pressing against the frozen bark, waiting for the next unsuspecting cat to come flying down the path.... toward hsi doom.

"Your history is your history I guess I understand. But please wipe that look off your face and please come back to me.

Miles yawned, slightly amused by the dramatic behavior of her fellow loners.
"Scratch, want to hear my history?" she meowed. "Basically, I was raised on a farm with my dad and the others. When the farm was sold, the new owners tried to shoot us all. I was just a kit and I would've survived anyway, but he came back for me and got shot."

Nico arrived back with a few scratches and looking tired. "You guys are still rambling on about the past? Stop looking back and move forward already!" pain seered through his hazely green eyes. Raw emotion clung on his facial expressions as he stalked closer to his friends. "I thought we agreed a long time ago to not talk about our pasts." he growled, long tail lashing.

"Well, I guess curiosity did get us cats," Miles meowed. "I'm taking a nap now. Have fun guys."

"Nico, your right but, if all of your pasts are that bad then maybe they shouldn't be told. We should be talking about what's going to happen tomorrow. So stop whining about the past and come to the present, where we SHOULD be sleeping."

Tenebris dug his claws deeper into the tree branch, ignoring the uncomfortable way it scraped his paws. After a moment or two, he leaped off the branch, landing on the forest floor with barely a thump. Shaking himself, the black tom glanced toward the mountains in the east, then glanced back at toward the forest. Which way? Tenebris had to admit he had gotten far too close to the other rogues here than he would've liked. Berating himself, Tenebris went halfway back to the others, and happened upon a smooth boulder with small hollow half covered by it, providing a wonderful place to sleep. He glanced at the sky, noting the setting sun, and wriggled in to the hollow.

Scratch wriggled into her den and layer down she closed her eyes but didn't sleep. She wanted everything to go back to the way it was. In the morning she woke to find Tenebis was still gone, "Nico, have you seen Tenebris?"

When Brisingr heard that Scratch liked him, a torrent of different emotions ran through him. Shock at something he never suspected. A kind of "um, okay..." feeling. Then anger because his love was for Lily and only Lily, even though she had passed away. Brisingr knew he could never love another cat, yet... The tiniest pinprick of pleasure. Pleasure!!! It can't be... Yet Brisingr knew it was there. And because it felt like betraying his loved one, he hated himself for it.

"Brisingr, is something bothering you?" Scratch liked Brisingr and she could see the sadness in his eyes she wondered if she liked her and she wanted to know soon. Then all her thought came back to Spare, her first love. She shook the thought away and just stared at Brisingr.

Brisingr growled. "What Nico said... I have to forget my past. But it's so hard... Never mind. But thanks for your concern." He shook his head and stalked away in search of a place where he could be alone. He found a hollow and settled down in it, gazing at the hanging lichen that sheltered the opening. Soon he drifted into his dreams...

The orange cat looked up into the starry sky, hoping to find answers. That voice, that voice that gave him new life whispered, "You are fire. But fire must be strong. Like fire you must blaze through the grass, growing ever stronger. Fire never reblazes its original path. It is always forging ahead." The words echoed creepily through the plain. The orange cat shuddered, and the voice continued in a kinder tone, "We know of your past. We know of your love. But like fire you must continue. Do not dwell on your past, but do not forget it either, Flaming Heart. We believe you would have some good advice for the Haunted Soul." Then ever so gently, the orange cat was encloaked in a soft dark blanket...

As Brisingr sank into darkness, his last thoughts were, Perhaps I am not so alone after all.

Scratch started to cry when she thought about all she losther mate her kits, and now her freinds. She let out a wail and and ran through the bushes.

As the sun crept over the treeline, Tenebris slid out from under the boulder, shaking dirt of his sleek black fur. Yawning widely, he faced the mountains, paws itching. Am I ready to go back? He glanced back toward where he guessed his friends were. Stay. Tenebris sighed heavily and turned back into the forest, his figure a soundless shadow.

Miles woke up when she fell out of the tree. Agh! Luckily no one saw me or they'd know this was an act, she thought to herself, amused. Not like I'm going to turn up happy-go-lucky though. She got up off the ground, surveying the clearing to see if anyone was there.

Tenebris heard an audible thump to his left and jerked around, ears flat to his head. Much to his surprise, he saw a fluffy ginger lump on the leafy forest floor that quickly leaped to its paws. "Miles?" His ears flicked back in half amusement. "Are you okay?"

Miles spun around, hissing. Someone was there. Man, something was up with her if she didn't smell Tenebris from that distance. She sighed. "Hey Tenebris. I'm fine. Just, practising some fight moves on this.... leaf."

Brisingr woke up, refreshed. He decided to go to the clearing where they were earlier, hoping that no one was there. He listened to the birds chirping on the trees as his paws crunched through the leaf litter and thought, If only I could be as carefree as those birds... Much to his surprise, Brisingr saw Tenebris and Miles talking in the clearing. He stepped out of the undergrowth and cautiously mewed, "Hi."

Nico slipped from the shadowed branches of the tree, mischief in his hazel-green eyes as he snuck up to Tenebris, leaping at him with a 'vicious' roar. "gotcha!" he mrrowed with a hearty laugh.

Miles scoffed, trying to regain the confidence from before.
"Looks like we're reunited. Is Hauntedsoul back with the Clan yet?"
She licked her paw, trying to shake off the pine needles.

"Well, except for Scratch," Brisingr said uneasily. Now he couldn't even say her name without experiencing a torrent of emotion. And he still couldn't believe she liked him. Brisingr only wanted Lily.

Scratch squeezed out of her den "Did someone say my name?" She asked "As if I'm a ghost." She muttered under her breath. She was very annoyed with the way Brisingr talked to her ever scents she told him sue liked Jim. He looked as if a million emotions were flowing over him. As if he was thinking of something else, someone else...

Tenebris swatted at Nico's ear, cuffing him none too gently. "Don't do that," he grumbled. Shaking himself, he flicked the earth that was clumped between his claws onto the ground and stretched. Brisingr reminded him of someone had known long before, during the moons he had been cast out. A dark ginger tom, about the same age, had befriended him and they had worked together to survive. But then there was the rogue attack with Haunted... Tenebris shook his head, sighing. "So what now?"

Nico nodded. "Yes. I'm sure she's safe and sound back at her clan's camp." he yowled dramatically at Tenebris's cuff. " Why so mean, Tenny" he whined. "I think we should go for a swim or maybe climb some trees? Some sorta race!" his voice was excited. Like a kit's
