Waiting for Midnight
The air is replete with preparations for war; since the severing of the ties to Olympus less than two months ago, Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon have been readying themselves for the oncoming battle. There is no doubt in anyone's mind the oncoming battle will determine the future of King of the Gods. Zeus has taken fortress in the cloud pillars of the sky, Poseidon has sought and received shelter beneath the crashing waves, and Hades has retreated to his home terrain, the treacherous Underworld. All twelve Olympians have taken their sides evenly, but even the Immortals know that this battle will not be won on their prowess alone.
In truth, the fate of the world lies in the unsuspecting hands of the gods' mortal children, the demigods. It has been no secret that even the most pious gods and goddesses, save for Artemis alone, have sired children with mortals, and the results are astounding. Though they may not seem formidable alone, each is blessed with an ability based on an aspect of their parentage, and together they have the power to turn the tides of this and any battle. Claimings and recruitment have sky-rocketed; every god and goddess wants their most powerful children to serve them well in the upcoming war.
The Pantheon Academy for Gifted Youth has for centuries upon millennia catered to the need of every burgeoning demigod between the ages of 6 and 18 for shelter. Separated into three houses, much like the gods themselves, Tonitrui (Thunder), Terraemotus (Earthquake), and Mortem (Death) have long held rivalries against each other by simple reason of their parentage. With the war now threatening to control their lives in full force, these rivalries have become more pronounced than ever, and skirmishes in the hallway, once occasionally disciplinary problems, have become as common an occurrence as students attending class. Long brewing tensions are snapping between students as more and more are called to serve their parents in this time of battle.
The streets of New York have become a dangerous war terrain. Seemingly innocent teens and young adult demigods who have yet to develop and come into full realization of their powers have been picked off in alleyways, and everyone is doing whatever they can to survive and thrive. Most demigods side with the faction of their parents, but a few brave souls dare to betray their immortal ancestors... What about you? Will you choose to be a son of Hermes, carrying out surveillance missions in secret, or maybe a daughter of Aphrodite, using your deadly charm to worm secrets out of opposing factions' generals? (not trying to be sexist)
Whatever they may try to do, whatever choices are made, it's very apparent that the worst is still yet to come; they're just watching, hoping, and waiting for Midnight.
WFM is set in an alternate universe where many half-blood demigods have had their parentage made apparent regardless of their parent's power. Camp Half-Blood never existed, instead replaced by the Pantheon Academy for Gifted Youth, and neither did any of the original canons from the books. Instead, the demigods here at have abilities focused from one of their god parent's specialties, manifested from birth and apparent throughout their lives. In general, by the time one reaches adolescence they have a firm grasp and concept of what they are able to do, and mastery can be reached in the late teens or early adulthood, depending on the power, and level of training. Monsters do not prey on or hunt young demigods, and the mist is growing steadily thinner, to the point that human civilians are becoming aware of the battle raging around them (though they still count off most of the occurrences as odd weather incidents).
The destruction is all the same, and even an untrained naked mortal eye could see when a subway rail is left in ruins or a small-time shop goes up in flames. Through unorganized consensus, the public is beginning to get a sense that something suspicious is taking place beneath their noses. The Pantheon Academy for Gifted Youth, operating under the guise of a normal boarding school, houses all of the Big Three's (and affiliates') demigod children, training them in the use of their powers, though even the half-bloods don't know that they are merely being used as their parents' pawns. The more powerful of them rise in the ranks quickly, and slackers are filtered out; to save yourself, you have to be the best.
Obey the usual rules and have fun!

Re: Waiting for Midnight
Name: Julian
Age: 17
Parent: Tyche
Powers Known: Probability manipulation
House: Tonitrui
Allies/friends: N/A for now
Enemies/Rivals: N/A for now
Appearance: Short brown hair, pale skin, tall, and with pale green eyes is his normal description, however as an exercise for his ability Julian has been known to change the probability of his eye and hair color, sporting all natural colors and occasionally even unnatural colors. For clothes he typically wears a neutrally colored t-shirt and jeans with regular running shoes and a light jacket for cooler weather.
Personality: Reserved, careful, resourceful, and generally exceeds others' expectations when he tries.
History: Raised mostly in a standard middle-class home and never lacked anything that he wanted, though Julian learned early on to be careful of too much luck. Was eventually found by the Academy and went along quietly, more because he was interested in learning more about the true nature of the world. He has recently begun to doubt his decision, but has decided it is too late to change anything.
Other: A couple rolls of coins and some hidden darts, that he started carrying as tensions in the Academy began to rise.

Re: Waiting for Midnight
Name: Ingrid Dove
Age: 15
Parent: Hecate (or Hekate depending on how you prefer to spell it)
Powers Known: Magic; more so, witchcraft specialized in the use of runes/sigils and muttered spells
House: Mortem
Allies/Friends: Anyone?
Rivals/Enemies: She's not really fond of anyone outside of her house (or inside her house, but she's more comfortable with them than anyone else there).
Appearance:
Personality: A loner in practically every situation, Ingrid is often seen at the back of the crowds ever since she joined the Academy. She's quiet, not the loudest talker but can come off as intimidating. Her one-eyed gaze often appears hostile, making it difficult to tell when she's scared and when she wants to make the rest scared. On the other hand, she spends a lot of time reading books, mainly about different abilities she can perform with her own magic. Most of the time she conceals the book's true cover; other times she can pull it off as a fantasy book. Outside of the crowds, she's still rather quiet but talks more to those she's comfortable with. She spends most of the free time she has away from the crowds in her room, practicing her spells and making herself stronger. She's well aware of the tensions between houses, part of which she participates in herself, and feels that she should be prepared should any major events happen.
History:
If we need another character in any of the houses (*cough*minus Tonitrui*cough*), I can handle some more.

History:
- Long Because That's How I Roll:
- Ingrid was born and gifted to her father who raised her from there. After three years, she lost sight in her right eye, causing it to turn silver. Her father, to protect her from any questions of this oddity, placed a patch over her eye, saying simply that she was a pirate until she was able to grow her bangs out. She lived there for fourteen years in that small town with her father and step-mother (yes, he married), never knowing of who her true mother was. A few days before her fifteenth birthday, she discovered a book in their attic on the ancient art of witchcraft. Being a big reader, even at that point in history, she began to study the magic, sometimes giving a few spells a try. To her surprise, some of the easier ones worked and she managed to light a candle. With her newfound power, she began reading more and more into it. The very day she turned fifteen, she was at school and was knocked to the floor. Her personality not being too different from her current one, she just shot a glare and stood up once more with her book in hand. Then the very people who knocked her down tugged her back by her hair. At this point, the teachers had shut their doors. They weren't accepting late attendants either; they were rather strict about that. The students, catching a look at Ingrid's book, began teasing her, calling her a freak for not only being a loner, but a witch. She finally had enough of it. Using the only spell she could think of, she spoke in an inaudible whisper and sent all three of them flying into the lockers. From there, she went to the principle's office, her guardians were notified, and word spread until it reached the ears of the Pantheon Academy. She received a letter the next day (word travels fast when a witch is involved) inviting her to their school, explaining that she could very well have the blood of a god/goddess in her veins. When mentioned to her parents, she was informed of her true mother's identity and - for her own safety after the accident at the school - was sent away to the building where she has stayed for the past eleven months, still unsure of how trustworthy such a place could be.
If we need another character in any of the houses (*cough*minus Tonitrui*cough*), I can handle some more.

Re: Waiting for Midnight
Name: Harper (female)
Age: 16
Parent: Ares
Powers Known: None
House: Tonitrui
Allies/friends: N/A
Enemies/Rivals: N/A
Appearance: Medium height, strong built girl with porcelain skin and long, dark brown hair. Clenches jaw almost constantly, so much she has to remind herself not to do it. Freckles on face and arms. She has big hazel eyes with flecks of gold, and her sight is excellent. But, her hearing was damaged when she was young and can only hear from one ear. Usually, she will wear a plain cotton shirt and heavier, pocketed pants (almost army-like). She will put on a leather jacket if she gets cold, and ties her hair up with a black hair elastic. Wears combat boots almost everywhere, even if it's hot.
Personality: Observant, always on the lookout for danger. She is very boastful and always wants to make sure everyone knows she is powerful and in control. Somewhat of an overachiever, wants to prove herself worthy. Her other senses are almost heightened, and she can predict an attacker's next move.
History: When she was 4, her and her parents got into a car accident, killing both parents and damaging Harper's hearing. She was put into an orphanage, and when she grew up, she decided to run away. She found out about the school, and thought she would take her chances with going.
Other: Carries a switchblade in each of her boots, in case she needs them in a fight. Large scar on right forearm from the same car accident in which she lost some hearing.
