Riverclan RPG: The Flood (Anyone on WCF can join)

Dark clouds cover the sky. It has been raining for days, and it seems like there will be no end. The river is quickly rise, and flooding is soon to come. This may be insignifigant to the other clans, who won't be affected by the flooding in their territory, but it is a huge problem for the cats of Riverclan. They only have a short time to prepare before the flooding starts. If they do not act quickly, their camp could be destroyed and lives could be lost.

Members currently in Riverclan will not have to fill out a form, and can just join in the roleplay. Anyone outside Riverclan must fill out a form and be accepted before they can start. Your cat must be in Riverclan for the roleplay. (Ranks for the form cannot be Leader, Deputy, or Medcine Cat, but all other ranks are allowed.)

Either me or Brightstar will accept your form, when it is accepted, you may start roleplaying.

Streamfur grabbed one of the rocks Torrentheart had found, and used it to hold down the nursery, so it wouldn't be washed away. First the nursery would be secured, and then the elder's den. The other dens would be secured after they were done. "Torrentheart!" She called over to him, "You can chose a couple apprentices to help you with the dens. Make sure the nursery and elder's den are secured first." The river was still steadily rising. She hoped the dens could be secured before the river flooded.

"We should send the elders and queens to higher ground first," Brightstar called. The long legged tabby slogged through the mud toward her deputy. She'd been down by the bank, trying to measure how fast the river was rising. Which was pretty darn fast. "Maybe up by the treeline." Brightstar shook the water from her whiskers and glanced back at the river again.

Reedpaw jumped at the chance to get away from listening to Hawkwing's life story. "I can help with the elders' den," he called to Torrentheart and Brightstar. "Sorry, Hawkwing, I'l have to sit in for your lecture another time. Right now we need to get you out of here." The ground was damper than usual, and the smell of fish was closer than normal. Though the situation was serious, he knew the flooding would replenish the soil if green-leaf was a hot season again. The fish would also swim down stream toward them because of all the nutrients washed into the river.

"I'll see if Riversplash, Mistyfur, and Hailstorm and also Reedpaw can help me with the queens kits and elders." Streamfur meowed to Brightstar. She turned around and meowed, "Riversplash, Mistyfur, Hailstorm, could you help get the elders, queens, and kits to higher ground, by the tree line?" She then turned back to Brightstar and asked, "Do you think we'll have enough time to finish securing all the dens?"

Featherpaw was just reaching about 9 moons old and had shown some rather impressive swimming and fishing skills thought fighting wasn't her strongest suit. She quickly ran over to Streamfur and Brightstar, "What can i do to help?" Her pelt was plastered to her skin and her whiskers drooped as the moisture clung to them. She did her best to hold back a sneeze but it caused her face to scrunch up oddly.

Torrentheart nodded grimly at Iceclaw. He turned to Brightstar. His fur was now slicked back in crazy directions, his duck-like pelt not allowing the fur to cling to the skin. "Brightstar, could Featherpaw help me here? I think we have enough cats to herd the elders, queens, and kits up by the treeline," he meowed. He cast a worried glance at the rising lake. "Or maybe we should work on getting all the cats up by the treeline," he suggested. "A flood over camp looks promising." Raindrops and heavy moist was now falling into his poor eyes, making him flinch but still he remained strong.

Brightstar hesitated and glanced over her shoulder. "Maybe-- if we work fast." She glanced at Featherpaw and pointed at the dens after a moment. "You can help us secure the dens. Elders' den and nursery first." It was doubtful that they'd manage to get to the warriors den. The RiverClan leader gave the camp a quick look around, and almost had a heart attack. The medicine cat's den! "No wait, could you help get the herbs out of there Featherpaw? Help Berryleaf and Echosong," Brightstar gestured hurridly as she spoke.

Hailstorm heard Streamfur, and immediately ran towards the elders' den. "Flood!" He announced. "Get to the tree line! Quickly!" Hailstorm went to the nursery next. "Get your kits to the tree line!" He yowled.

The rain was getting heavier as they spoke. There was a flash of lightning above followed by a ominous roar of thunder. "Let's all head towards higher ground. I think we'll have to get everyone out fast," She mewed urgently, pacing about restlessly.

~Phantom, you didn't mention your cat~

Hailstorm jumped when he heard the thunder. "Let's go! Quickly!" he mewed urgently while leading a group of elders. "Come on! Don't worry about your dens, worry about yourself! There is no time to save bits of twig!"

"I'll come to the medicine den with you, Featherpaw!" Reedpaw mewed, ignoring the rain that ran down his fur in streams. Herbs were the next priority after cats, considering the fact that any existing plants would be drowned for the season. The apprentice rushed inside the damp den and grabbed some bitter herbs in his jaws, dropping them on higher ground in a pile next to the elders. They'd decide where to put them later. He squeaked as the storm only got more severe.

Featherpaw pelted down after him and followed into the den looking for something that might be useful to them later. She grabbed some marigold and goldenrod before chasing Reedpaw out of the den. She despised the task of the herbs and did her best not to swallow them but rather than dropping them in a pile at the top of the hill so decided to search for some undergrowth where a plant might be blocking the rain. Finally she had found one as she placed the herbs underneath. "Nothing will wash them away now!" She announced with a squeak of pride.

The rain lashed at Brightstar's face, almost blinding her. She shook her head stubbornly and glanced at the swiftly rising river behind her. It was swallowing the bank faster than she thought possible, already reaching the warriors' den. "Forget the dens!" Brightsta yowled above the thunderous applause of the rain drops. "We can rebuild them later! Everyone head up to higher ground. Now!"

The rain sledded off Torrentheart's head like a duck just getting out of the water as he raised his head in a sharp, forceful yowl. "Forget the dens! Everyone help each other to higher ground!" he screeched after the yowl. He had a very loud voice at its max, so he figured he'd repeat Brightstar's words. He scrambled to the nursery and poked his wet head inside. His tail wagged behind him furiously, in anticipation and slight fear. The nursery was evacuated completely; good. He looked around the panicking cats; everyone seemed to handle getting the kits, queens, medicine cat, and elders and didn't need help. He then heard the terrified squeal of a young kit; in fact, there was a kit, standing at the elder den entrance. A small little tree stood guard in front of the kit, and the kit struggled to get through the gaps in the almost-bare branches. Torrentheart knew, however, this kit was just merely too young to know how to get through properly. He raced over, the blinding rain not close to an obstacle in his furious race.

Panic rose under Gingerburst's pelt and she scrambled frantically to higher ground. She forced her paws through the mud. She stumbled and fell on her side. She quickly stood back up and rushed over to a higher ground, fur plastered to her side. She turned her head and searched for any helpless cat with a sharp eye. She spotted Torrentheart rushing over to the elder's den in search of something, perhaps a kit. She leaped down from her spot into the mud and raced over to help.

Streamfur was carrying one of Featherstorm's kits, and Featherstorm was carrying another. The two kittens had quickly become soaked, and Streamfur could feel the kit she was carrying shiver from the cold. The kits still had their fluffy kit fur, and it did not protect them from the rain like the other Riverclan cats' pelts. At the tree line, she found a sheltered spot where Featherstorm could curl up with her kits. They now had two of Featherstorm's four kits. She looked around to see who was carrying the other two but the rain made it hard to see. She ran back towards camp to help the others leave.


Berryleaf had a mouthful of herbs, trying to grab as many as she could. If the camp flooded, they would all be gone. Once she had as many as she could carry, she left the medicine den, and was suprised to see the part of it was already flooded. She raced out of camp with the herbs in her mouth and ran towards the tree line.

Splashpaw scrambled frantically, chest deep in the water, her short legs offering no sanction to the rising tide.
Suddenly, a branch swept under the waters, tripped the small she-cat, and she fell ungracefully into the water.
The small she-cat let out a yelp, but she ended up inhaling water instead.
The small cat thrashed in the water, trying to get a grip in the raging waters that persistently rose higher.

Streamfur arrived just outside the now flooded camp. She looked around, trying to see if there were any cats still stuck in camp. She then spotted a furry head go underwater. Splashpaw! Streamfur quickly dived into the water, and tried to swim against the current towards the drowning apprentice. She moved out of the way of the branch that had hit the apprentice, and soon, she saw the dark shape under the water that was Splashpaw. She grabbed her by the scruff and started pulling her towards land.

The large dusky tom didn't even notice the young cat Gingerburst as Torrentheart lunged his head through a large gap in the tree. He snapped carefully to reach the young kit's scruff; but it didn't seem to be anymore less afraid of Torrentheart. "You have to come here! I'm Torrentheart, another RiverClan warrior. You need to trust me," he meowed softly. The kit whimpered and slowly inched to Torrentheart. The large tom snatched the young kit up immediately. The kit wailed with terror but Torrentheart flung himself around, careful of the young kit in his mouth, and nodded to Gingerburst in the direction of the place the other cats were going. He raced up there, the clumps of thick mud failing to slow him down. Oh no... I have to bring the kit across this river... he thought as he approached the rising river.

Gingerburst followed Torrentheart to the river. She saw the distress in his eyes and asked, "Do you need any help?" The water was rising steadily and was changing color to brown quickly. They had to hurried or else they would drown in camp.

Rainfeather stared as the river rose. Rainfeather bounded quickly after Torrentheart's scent.
"Guys!" Rainfeather breathed heavily. The water rose higher till' it started to lap father over the pebbly shore.
