"I know, Mara," Paladin chimed. "How about we just hunt minor prey individually for a little bit? Such as rabbits," he added, addressing the others.

Mara looked around the camp clearing without another word. She spotted Mingra and Tenebris with Ajax and Nati. Curious as to what was going on, she padded over to them. "Good afternoon. Has the patrol left yet?" she asked curiously.

Paladin noticed his mate walk away. He nodded to the others and padded after her.

Ren's eyes lit up. She wondered if the patrol could take another wolf. She totted over. "Can I come, too?" she piped up.

"That is fine with me," Phaio replied. Just then, Nkri came in asking, "Did anybody get hurt? No? Good. Wow, that's a big moose."

Tenebris looked up and returned the greeting to Mara. "Apologies," he replied politely. "We're about to leave right now, to take a quick check of the territory." He glanced at his mate again, yellow eyes questioning, Would you want to come?

Mingra, snapping out of her daze, nodding to her mate, "Let's go." She flicked her tail toward the entrance, allowing her mate to lead the way out. She needed a good patrol to warm her body up for the day.

Rank: Hunter
Personality: shy, reacts to instincts. Has great reflexes, which makes her a decent hunter. Slightly socially awkward, but she knows where she stands in the social hierarchy. Seems boring at first glance, but if you get to know her you'll know she cares strongly for her friends. Usually thinks of horrible ideas and gets into sticky situations because of that.

Mate: N/A
History: As a pup, she was abandoned by her mother, but she found the pack in the woods, and she survived by gnawing leftover bones. Her reflexes developed because anytime she thought she heard the pack, she would have to run away in fear of being killed as a threat to prey. After a few moons, the pack stumbled upon her while she was hunting and, seeing her hunting skills, invited her to join the pack as an apprentice.

Blaze slowly, awkwardly padded up to Mara and Tenebris.
"Um, excuse me," she said softly, "should I come along too? To practice my hunting skills?" She flicked a bit of snow off of her left ear, scared of adressing the Alphas. It was worth the bravery it took to ask them, though. Blaze had been sitting around camp all day, restless, wanting to romp out in the snow.

~Lol Tenebris is beta male. Padalin is the alpha male by the way.~

"Of course." Mara responded looking at the small she-wolf. "Mingra, I'll put you in charge of training Blaze for the day. I am sure she could learn a lot from your skill." She looked at Mingra, then back at Blaze. Her fluffy Red pelt danced in the breeze and the sunlight gleamed setting her fur ablaze.

Blaze looked admiringly up at Mingra and Mara. Mingra was an amazing hunter, and Blaze hoped to be able to impress her at least a little, and learn new things that would help her hunt better. Blaze just wanted to be able to help feed the pack and feel like she was contributing.

Mingra smiled at Blaze, "Follow me. We'll head out hunting. See you later Tenebris!" She howled, jumping out of the clearing, not checking to see if Blaze would follow. She was going to see if she would follow.

Blaze leaped after Mingra, keeping pace. There's no way she would miss her one opportunity to stretch her legs today. Her paws landed into the snow with a satisfying crunch, leaving paw prints behind Mingra's.

Mingra twisted through the trees, smiling at how good it felt with the wind against her pelt. She pushed her pace to her limit, trying to see how far Blaze would go and how good her stamina was. She needed a good estimate on how in shape Blaze was before she'd start hunting. So far, Mingra liked what she saw.

Tenebris dipped his head at Mara, then glanced wistfully after Mingra. A morning patrol with her would've been nice, but it would have to happen another day now. The black wolf glanced back at Ajax and Nati, signaling them to follow as he headed out of camp. Tenebris was hoping for a quick patrol of the territory. For one thing, he was hungry... And everything seemed to be pretty quiet these days; surely no trouble would come right now.

Personality: Outspoken and confident. She would be the first to stand up to a challenge and the last to back down. Only listens to the authority figure if she thinks they deserve the respect and rank; extremely loyal and persistent. Honest and intelligent.

History: Was born in the pack to the former Betas. She had a brother, but he was killed during his trainee years, trampled to death after attacking a moose on his own.

Ajax turned and chased noisily after the beta wolf. Nati on the other hand was much more graceful and when bounded through the undergrowth after Tenebris. Their muscles sent ripples across their pelts. Nati loved the feel of the breeze in her pelt. She closed her eyes as she bolted past Ajax.

Blaze easily twisted through the trees, following Mingra, but was pushing herself to her absolute speed limit trying to keep pace with Mingra. Breathing heavily, Blaze was having difficulty scenting any prey, so she just decided to stop running when Mingra did.

Mingra nodded, proud of Blaze, "Good job. Most wolves don't last through that. I'm happy you stuck through it. Now, what can you scent?" Mingra asked, sitting down for a moment to take a breather.

Blaze stopped, grinning at the praise and trying to catch her breath.
"Well... theres a scent of rabbit, but its faint... The rabbits probably came this way two or three days ago. I can also scent the moose the pack brought down this morning."
There was something else, but Blaze couldn't quite put her finger on what it was. Maybe some sort of deer?
"Mingra, whats the other scent? Is it a type of deer?"

Mingra raised her muzzle to scent what Blaze had found, "Honestly, I'm not sure." She sniffed again, not knowing a scent was bad for a wolf. This made Mingra uneasy. "We may have to go back to camp to ask. I've never scented this before." Making a split decision, she decides to follow the scent, "Actually, it's probably nothing bad, let's follow it. Could be a new type of moose!" She twisted north, toward the scent, digging her paws back into the ground to propel herself forward.

~We could make it something bad, like a bear or something? Drama time 8D~

Akiro padded out of the camp clearing. He sniffed the air. Nothing. He sighed and walked on. Suddenly, a new scent filled his nose. Must be a moose. He followed the scent and saw Mingra and Blaze track the scent. He bounded up to them. "Can I join?" He asked. "I have nothing to do."

~Let's make it so Tenebris and his patrol gets to them at some point. ~

Tenebris picked up the speed when he saw Nati going so fast. The rush of the wind when you raced along could become intoxicating, he knew, especially after being stuck in camp so long. The Beta rumbled, his ears pricking with the joy of the run.

Nevertheless, he slowed his pace when he reached the denser wood area. Roots and bramble tendrils would be sticking up under the snow where you couldn't see them, making footing treacherous. It wouldn't do for a wolf's dignity to go sprawling face-first into the ground. "Alright," he said at last. "Do any of you see or smell anything out of the ordinary so far?" Tenebris parted his jaws himself and scented the air. There was a faint, peculiar odor, carried by the wind....
