Kit Challenge
- Day 1:
Mommy always told me of that day. I was the least painful to deliver of the litter, because I was tiny. She told me that daddy had called me a cat toy when he first set his eyes on me! I always wished I could hear his voice when he said that, but of course, my ears and eyes were shut. My brother and sister were plump, healthy kits and started mewling the moment they breathed in their new surroundings. I was the same, but since I was always the late one, I slept for a while before I made a noise. The vet apparently thought I was dead until she saw my fluffy tail twitching. I was named Luna after a character my owner's kit loved so much, just because my cream coloured fluff reminded her of that character's hair. My mother still tells me I'm an intelligent kit (especially when I can't beat my brother and sister for food!) because I can stare at something for a really, really really long time. It's only been a while since that day, but I'm already very grown up. I know the difference between the tuna and salmon cat food and no one else does!
- Day 2:
The day I made a noise! Mommy said the vet came back and poked me with a sharp thing a few times, but I was okay. Daddy caught a fever and had to stay away from us kits for a little while. I wish I could remember this day. Apparently, it was the first (and one of the only) times I got to feed before the others. That was only because they got distracted by the couch thing and I jumped at the chance because I couldn't reach the best scratching place. Ah well, who will know?
- Day 3:
My owner made me a collar on the third day. It's so tiny now I can wear it on my ear! Buuuut it was my very first present so it's special. It says Luna on it. My brother's says Shortbottom on it (named for his stumpy tail) and my sister's says Mini Ginny on it. She's small, too, but at least she's lovable and fast!
- Day 4:
Daddy got better on the fourth day. Mommy said Ginny ripped her collar while napping, too. I think I faintly remember her yowling, but my hearing was still dull back then. Daddy said my ears were twitching that day, the first sign that I would open my eyes soon.
- Day 5:
- My memory of this day was clearer than the rest. It was the first time I was beginning to hear and understand things. There was thunder outside and I could feel the vibrations in my ears. I still couldn't see but that didn't matter because I was praised as the smartest kit in the litter that day which made getting to the food bowl last a lot less bad. I was brave! Only when I was cuddled with Mommy, though. Daddy kept licking my fur and I felt so snug, because it was my turn to sleep closest to Mommy that night.
- Day 6:
I could see light through my eyelids that day. I was wondering where it came from. Also, I could almost eat the delicious solid cat food I keep smelling! Milk is okay but it doesn't smell as rich and flavourful as this stuff. Our owners bathed us for the first time since our birth. The soap smelled bad. It was too sweet and I don't think it washed out of my ears completely for two days after then.
- Day 7:
I turned one week old! I remember the party clearly. The owners made us some cake. I could only lick the icing, though. My fangs are still developing. Shorty actually bit off a chunk of it. He spit it back out but it was impressive. We got our own embellished pillows as a present. We couldn't sleep on them until we were old enough, though.
