Prologue

"ShadowClan has complaint against ThunderClan!" A voice rang out from the Great Oak, silencing gathered cats below.
"Icestar, we'er not the ones stealing prey in newleaf!" Angry eyes glared out of the leafy branches.
The ShadowClan leader stiffened. "It's not our fault! Besides, I could fight you head on for territory rather then bringing this to the Gathering!" Icestar lashed her white tail.
"Monkeystar is right," muttered a new voice. "Prey should be more plentiful now!"
Monkeystar glared daggers at Lotus-star. "It's none of your business!" he snarled.
Lotus-star shrugged. "figure your dispute out later," she meowed. "some of us need to get back to the Clan for patrols tomorrow."
A sleek light brown tabby spoke up: "Lotus-star is correct. The other three Clans haven't even started their reports! Which, also reminds me. RiverClan patrols have seen WindClan cats stealing fish at the river just inside the RiverClan-side of the border!"
"Lies!" Lotus-star spat.
"We wouldn't eat slimy fish if were starving anyway!" Fernleaf yowled at her place at the roots of the Great Oak.
A black RiverClan tom leaped to his paws. "Then you must be more than starving! Because you were stealing fish!"
An orange-and-black mottled ThunderClan cat screeched. "Maybe StarClan only wants two Clans to survive!"
A cheese-colored she-cat growled from among her ShadowClan Clanmates. "There's always been four Clans!"
Arguments broke out from among the Clans. Screeching and unsheathing their claws. In no time at all, fights broke out. ShadowClan leaped at ThunderClan, yowling insults. RiverClan warriors wrestled at the Windclan warriors, hissing threats.
The Clan leaders did not participate in the fighting, but made no attempt to call a stop to the fighting either. The moon was still shining, no clouds, not even a wisp was visible in the sky. That was the worst part. StarClan made no move to help.

Chapter !- RiverClan
Emeraldmist sat close to Swiftclaw as Brightstar helped Nightfrost send out the patrols. The silver tabby sat in silence, mind still wrapped in shock over the latest Gathering. Why would Starclan approve of the fightings? Why hadn't Brightstar called a halt to the fights? Or even the other Clan leaders? What was wrong with everyon- "Emeraildmist! Nightfrost just assigned us hunting patrol with Maplestream and Max. Weren't you listening?"
"What?" Emeraldmist shook her head in confusion, that yelped as a cool shadow slid over them. It was Max. the huge killer whale grinned a toothy grin that made most cats shiver in fear of being eaten. Only brightstar, Aspenfern, Nightfrost, and some others were entirely not afraid of the massive killer whale.
