Volepaw smiled at Petalpaw and whispered. "Thanks."

Cloudpaw purred watching Spottedkit. She pricked her ears and looked at Volepaw giving him a puzzled look. "Your leaving so soon? But its a kit!" Cloudpaw mewed softly. "Well, I want to go hunting with Petalpaw. Im so restless and ready to get out of camp too..." He mewed. Cloudpaw narrowed her eyes. "Fine." She growled. She whipped around to looked at Spottedkit and purred.

Volepaw narrowed his eyes at his sister and sighed. Sometimes Cloudpaw can be a pain in the tail. But now I get to go hunting with Petalpaw! He thought happily. "Ready when you are." He mewed turning to Petalpaw with a sly smile.

"Oh..." Goldenstream meowed, embarrased. She looked at the handsome black tom for a minute. He doesn't have a mate... And he's... stunning! Just maybe...

"So.. What's up?" asked Darkfire awkwardly. Silvermoon always scolded him when he didn't take up a conversation with someone and just sat there awkwardly. He imagined Silvermoon standing next to him and watching him intently. Ready to ounce on any mistake he made. He shuffled his feet while walking and then imagined Silvermoon. "DARKFIRE! No shuffling! Be confident!" she'd scold him. He chuckled a short chuckle.

"What's so fun- ACHOOOOOO!" Goldenstream sneezed. She fell, and sat up again, and started to laugh.

Darkfire stopped at looked at Goldenstream. He laughed with her. When he stopped laughing he said, "Funny? Well you just fell down from sneezing and I was imagining my sister scolding me." He chuckled. "Good, good! Be like that! Be nice! Be fun!" the imagined Silvermoon praised.

"Why does your sister worry about you so much? She orders you around. You should do what you want to, and tell her to stop." Goldenstream meowed. She stood up and said, "We're behind the others. We need to catch up!"

Darkfire shrugged. "She says that I need people to hang out with. She thinks that I'm too lonely. She says, "You're too dark and mysterious! Live a little!" It makes me laugh. I just shake my head and say that I will.. someday!" he says to Goldenstream. He looked at his clan. "We're not THAT behind. We can catch up easily!" he replied.

"Do you have any friends?" Goldenstream asked, "It'll be your first step to 'living' as your sister says."

"Meh. I dunno. I consider everyone I meet as a friend. The longest conversation I've had with someone in this clan is Silvermoon, Tempestpaw and you. Even though I'm--," said Darkfire before cutting off. He didn't think he should tell Goldenstream before he told Silvermoon.

"You're what? I won't tell anyone if you tell me. I swear on Starclan." Goldenstream promised. And she meant what she said.

Darkfire wondered if he should tell her. He decided to. "Okay fine. Just don't tell Silvermoon I told you before telling her, k? And the rest of the clan will find out as soon as it happens," he said. He paused and looked into Goldenstreams face. Her blue eyes looked like a lake. She looked like a person he could trust. "Okay well," he sighed, "I'm Springfall's kitting-mate. I'm the father of her kits. I didn't really tell anyone and so I think the only people who know are Springfall, Beestar of course, she arranged it, and you now." He looked into the distance. "I hope I get to know them.. but they are Beestar and Springfalls kits.. mostly."

"I don't mind that. At least you've made Springfall and Beestar happy. So, you're going to father them? Or are you looking for a mate of your own?" Goldenstream asked, hoping he was looking for his own mate.

Darkfire shrugged. "I guess I'll try to see the kits whenever I can but not too much since they are Springfall's and Beestar," he said. He looked up at the sky and saw that the moon was almost at it's full height. Stars shimmered. It was a beautiful night. "I don't mind a mate of my own," he said. "It would make Silvermoon happy. having a mate isn't bad but no one in the clan really talks to me much or knows about me much and it feels awkward to me so.. it's hard to find a mate." He found it reassuring to finally voice his thoughts. "It's a beautiful night huh?" he commented thoughtfully.

"Yeah... You just need someone you can trust or like to talk to." Goldenstream advised, "So, you are looking for a mate? Just talk to someone you like."

"I guess so," he said. "But if I do.. my mate has to understand that I have a responsibility to Springfall and Beestar. I have kits and I need to take care of them... Also, I think I should hang with Springfall a little more.. I didn't hang with her enough." He thought about this and decided that as soon as they went back to camp he would hang out with Springfall some more.

Springfall blinked, feeling bitter regret with trying to be Goldenstream's friend. Huh! Some friend! And I don't want anything to do with her anymore! I really want Darkfire to be-friend his kits, to be there with them, but since Goldenstream.....will want kits, he'll just always be there with her, and forget about his first kits! Springfall thought bitterly, and mewed softly, patting her belly protecticly "I won't let my kits be raised with only mom's, they'll want and need a father, and by Starclan I'll find them a father!" she mused to herself, and padded after the patrol, her shoulders bristling. She casted Goldenstream a cold glance and then lifted her muzzle into the air, and trotted to Beestar's side.

"I understand that. If I had a mate and he was like that, I wouldn't mind. I'd love for him to see his kits and their mother. It wouldn't hurt me a bit." Goldenstream meowed. She looked up at the moon. "It's a beautiful night."

Dakrfire looked up and saw Springfall. "Agreed," he said to Goldenstream. "I;m gonna go talk to Springfall," he told her and trotted up to Springfall. "You can come too," he called back. "Hey Springfall," he greeted her. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I didn't really hang out with you much. I promise that I will always look after the kits. I know I have responsibilities when the kits are born and I promise to do them. Promise to Starclan," he told her. He looked at her sheepishly to see her expression.

"Nah. I'll stay back here." Goldenstream replied. She heard what he said and smiled. He better. His kits need him. She walked over by Darkfire and saw Springfall looked mad. "I wouldn't mind!" Goldenstream whispered to her imaginary Springfall.

Dovewing sighed. She felt so bad. Shadowflight was dead. She looked around at all the other cats. She Goldenstream at the back and dropped back next to her. "Hey, what's up?" she said wearily.

"Nothing much... Just Springfall hating me for... for liking Darkfire. She thinks if we were mates, I wouldn't let him see his kits, though I wouldn't mind. Those kits are his kin!" Dreamcloud whispered so Darkfire wouldn't hear.

"Oh wow..," said Dovewing to herself. She thought about what she'd do in a situation like that. I guess I'd make an excuse and go on to the next guy she thought to herself. She looked at Darkfire. "You like Darkfire?" she asked suddenly. "Oh sorry if that sounded rude."

"No no. It's fine. Yes, I do, but I don't know if he likes me..." Goldenstream meowed.

"Ahh.. and you wanna know?" asked Dovewing. "I can tell you if he likes youu," she sang with mischeif in her eyes. She stepped forward a bit and trained her eyes on Darkfire. He kept looking back over his shoulder at Goldenstream. There seemed to be a smile hidden behind his smooth mask. Not one emotion could be told from him. He was good but Dovewing was trained in the art of finding out if someone likes someone. His eyes seemed to glimmer from all the way over here but that just could be the stars reflection. She studied him for another moment then stepped back to keep pace with Goldenstream."Yep! He likes you," she teased. "Congratz on making Darkfire like you! He's so closed up." She stuck her tongue out at Goldenstream, teasingness taking over her grief for Shadowflight's death.

"Really? Are you sure?" Goldenstream whispered. She looked at Darkfire, and then looked back.

Viper padded over to Springfall, "Hey, beautiful! Sorry, I'm not usually this corny, or have such a bad pick-up line, but I'm a little foggy from being injured." He smiled his best smile, and winked.
