I think there are two kinds of vole: Water Vole and, er, forest vole, I guess.

Mistbreeze- There is a variety of vole species, but let's just say that the Warrior Cats World has only 5: the [European] water vole, meadow vole, woodland vole, rock vole, and tundra vole. The meadow vole [also called 'field mouse'] is the most abundant and is probably the vole you're thinking of.
