Apprentice Training

It was a sunny day in Thunderclan territory. But today was the day the apprentice training begins. The sandy hollow is full of apprentices training, from basic fighting skills to tracking skills. But some are learning the basics to hunt. What will you do?

All Apprentices and mentors are able to join.

Silverwing shook out her pelt as she stood up once again. "I believe it is time that we head east to the Shadowclan border. That could become an important scent to know." She looked over at the tawny colored deputy. She unsheathed her claws anxiously, her anxiety vaguely apparent. Her last visit there didn't go so well so she knew this would be an important lesson for later n the apprentices future. "Shall we make our way there?"

Leopardwing stopped, and turned around. She saw the leader's anxious face. She nodded, and started to go east, to where the ShadowClan border is.

Shimmerpaw left the camp, trotting after Ghostfur. "Try to keep up! You don't want the other apprentices to all finish their tours before you, do you?" Ghostfur asked her. Shimmerpaw gasped. "NO!" She exclaimed and hurried her pace behind he mentor.

MilkyPaw got up quickly, her eyes had a bit of eagerness in them. I can't wait to learn another new scent! , she thought. MilkyPaw trotted over to where SilverWing was and began to follow. MilkyPaw seemed to be less shy than before and showed a glimpse of her true self.

Leopardwing purred. "Milkypaw seems to enjoy taking this tour more than any apprentice I've ever seen." She said with a mrrow of laughter. The sun beat down on her pelt, making her begin to feel hot.

Heatherpaw trotted after them excitedly. "Milkypaw, it's the Shadowclan border! They're the enemies. We better be careful though. We don't want to run into any of them." she mewed nervously.

The Silvery-grey she cat nodded her agreement. "She's certainly more eager than I was. Hopefully the excitement continues when they actually begin their training." Her blue gaze was clouded in thought as the treelike began to change befor then. Instead of the large oak and aspen trees, the forest grew dark and the trees were all turning to pine quickly as the undergrowth began to diminish. Silverwing stopped suddenly. "The Shadowclan border is ahead. Though you can pick up the scent well enough from here." She mewed as she turned to face the others.

MilkyPaw shivered at the thought of meeting a shadowclan cat. MilkyPaw sharpened her focus and trotted behind SilverWing with caution, looking up at the trees. She noticed the change in them as they passed by, the trees were definitely getting darker.When they stopped, MilkyPaw stretched her head and sniffed. "I can definitely smell the scent." She mewed. She nodded at SilverWing when she had the scent down.

Once they had arrived at the sandy hollow, Ghostfur came to a stop and waited a moment for Shimmerpaw to catch her breath if need be. "This is the sandy hollow. Most of our training will take place here alongside the other apprentices." Ghostfur said to his apprentice. He could still detect the scents of the others lingering in the hollow, and he could tell by the direction it was strongest that they had gone to the SkyClan border. Ghostfur decided to test Shimmerpaw, though, and asked, "Try scenting the air, Shimmerpaw. What can you smell?"

Shimmerpaw came to a stop beside her mentor and took in every word he said, she was so excited, she almost forgot to listen, however. She jumped at the sound of her name and raised her nose. She took a strong whiff of the air and said, "I smell ThunderClan, but it smells like they walked in that direction." She pointed her tail toward the SkyClan border and waited to see what her mentor would say.

Briarpaw bounced happily after her mentor to the next location. She came upon another new scent and cringed. ShadowClan cats very different from SkyClan and ThunderClan. I guess I'm still not used to different scents. she thought to herself. She got a good whiff and tried to remember the scent. When she thought she knew the scent pretty well she looked over to Leopardwing and nodded.

"Good. The other apprentices have indeed gone to the SkyClan border." Ghostfur said, pleased that his apprentice had detected the scent trail. "Why don't we see if we can catch up to them, eh?" he said as he took off, following the scent trail. This time Ghostfur went a little slower, he didn't want to tire out his apprentice before they even reached the first clan border!

Leopardwing smelled ShadowClan. She remembered the smell, the smell that would send a quiver down her spine. "You won't want to fight ShadowClan cats. They are pretty sneaky cats." Leopardwing mewed at Briarpaw.

Briarpaw thought about what Leopardwing said. "Really? Hmmm..." she replied then she imagined what that would be like to get in a fight with a ShadowClan cat.

Shimmperaw trotted after her mentor, relieved that he was going slowly. "So, are we going to the SkyClan border? Is it true? The legends that Firestar went and made them a Clan again?" She asked, her golden eyes shining. Shimmerpaw was very interested in her Clan's history, she couldn't wait to learn more! "What kind of prey do SkyClan cat catch/' She was full of questions!

Ghostfur flicked his tail in amusement as Shimmerpaw asked her questions. "Yes, we are going to the SkyClan border. And Firestar did indeed go on a journey to rebuild SkyClan, I remember it well because I became his apprentice when he returned. It gave me plenty of time to question him!" he said with a laugh, remembering the good old days when he first became an apprentice. "And as for SkyClan's prey, they catch mostly birds and squirrels. SkyClan cats are excellent at jumping great heights, so they can chase their prey even from the trees! Lets speed up a little bit, we're almost there. We can stop and rest at the border once we get there if you want." Ghostfur said as he began to speed up a little, while looking back to make sure Shimmerpaw was keeping up all right.

Foxfury waited for her apprentice, Flamepaw.

Flamepaw padded into the clearing. She spotted Foxfury waiting for her. "Are we trainging today?" Flamepaw asked eagerly.

"Yes. Yes we are" Foxfury replied.

Flamepaw bounced up and down in happiness. "Yes! Can you teach me all your fighting skills? Can you teach me how to hunt? Can we go with the other apprentices? PLEEEEEEASE?"

Shimmerpaw trotted along excitedly behind her mentor. Once the information that Ghostfur had given her sunk in, her eyes widened with happiness. "You were Firestar's apprentice? Woah!" Shimmperaw marveled. Ghostfur must be a really good cat if he had Firestar as a mentor. Scourge had always said that he a was a bad cat, but Shimmerpaw later found out that Scourge didn't like Firestar, because he was defeated by Firestar. Shimmerpaw wished that Firestar was his father, or maybe that she actually came from the Clans. Chill and Jay would've loved this place!
