Personality: She is unerringly loyal to her friends and Clanmates, stubborn in her beliefs. She is easy to irritate, and hard to appease, although she is fair-minded and reasonable. It can be easily seen that she can lose her temper quickly at certain circumstances, which may cause her to be prone to rash decisions at times. Decision-making was never her strong point, although she is always willing to take calculated risks. Clever, resourceful, cunning, and very persistent in what she does. She is a good observer, and always alert and wary of others outside her Clan. She always upholds a promise, and is considered to be a very good friend, even to those certain cats outside RiverClan.

Special Skills: She is an excellent swimmer, as she had lived around the water all her life. Surprisingly quick on her paws on land, she has lightning-fast reflexes from fishing. Considered an expert on strategy because of her quick and creative mind, and her observant personality.

Appearance: Long-legged, short-haired silver-platinum tabby she-cat with brilliant green eyes twined with faint streamers with gold; and inky black stripes. She has a small, black nose and angled ears. When she was a kit, her fur was a very pale grey with faint stripes, but her fur grew distinctly darker and thicker as she grew up. She is underestimated in battle because of her slender body and lean legs, but is more experienced and talented than she looks. Her wisdom and fairness earns respect from her Clanmates and friends, but sometimes, especially when she is under a lot of pressure, her patience wears out and she becomes snappish and sarcastic. Her voice is soft and quiet, but there's an edge to it that's almost always there.

History:
Brightkit was born during a flood, and Rippleheart's best friend drowned trying to save Rippleheart and her kits. Her pale pelt was viewed as an oddity, since her littermates' fur colors were all dark: brown and gray. Rippleheart was a platinum tabby she-cat and Blizzardstorm was gray-brown. Ever since then, Brightkit had hated her pale coat, and was delighted as it grew darker as she grew older. She especially despised her strange, yet captivating eyes. They were brilliant green, and flecked with dim flashes of gold. Streamers of silvery amber twined across her eyes, more conspicious when she was angry.

When Brightpaw was an apprentice, her brother Otterpaw was killed when the river flooded from continuous rain. He had gone hunting at dawn, swept into the raging river before he knew what was happening. Just a moon later, passing rogues brutally murdered Rippleheart and left her broken, mangled body in unknown places. It still has not been found to this day. Brightpaw swore that for the rest of her life, none of her friends or family would die if she could help it. So she set her eyes on deputy-ship and worked persistently to reach it, even as a fellow denmate, Pikepaw was doing the same. So hard did Brightpaw work to reach her goal, Mistystar often bragged at the Gatherings about the young she-cat who dominated the apprentice den and soon enough, every Clan knew about her. Yet Brightpaw did not boast and think herself above others, which made her well-liked among everyone.

When she became warrior, Mistystar named her Brightshadow, for her uncanny ability to move silently like a ThunderClan cat, and for her strange, darkening fur. The current RiverClan deputy, who was also Brightshadow's former mentor, Tempestheart, died from a fox attack three moons after Brightshadow's first apprentice became a warrior. Mistystar appointed Brightshadow deputy, but it was met with protest from many Clanmates, who believed that she was too young, too inexperienced, despite her prodigy of a history. The Clan was going through a hard time. The river was frozen and many kits had died from the cold.. However, she proved them all wrong the day Brightshadow saved Mistystar from losing all her lives as they fled a rat-infested barn during leaf-bare. Pikepaw, now Pikeclaw, was furious tha she had become deputy and managed to earn every single Clan's respect; when he saw that majority of RiverClan doubted at first, he thought he still had a chance to replace Brightshadow as deputy! Enraged, Pikeclaw never ceased to openly show his distrust and rebelliousness in front of her when they were out of earshot with others, but was agreeable and friendly to her in public. Little did Mistystar know, Pikeclaw was training in the Dark Forest, and was planning to kill her deputy and take her place. And little did Pikeclaw know himself! As an apprentice, Brightshadow had trained in the Dark Forest as well, and her mentor was the almighty Thistleclaw! Not only had she avoided death, Brightshadow had awed Thistleclaw with her immediate grasp on the fatal moves the Dark Forest warriors taught. However, fate soon provided the solution for Brightshadow: while on a patrol at the Thunderpath, Pikeclaw was killed by a gigantic silver monster while showing off for Mistystar. Pikeclaw, however, was not done with his revenge yet. He came to Mistystar in her dreams, hissing threats that she'd die in the most painful way possible. In the Dark Forest, he started the blackcough epidemic, goaded by the rest of his new Clanmates,who hoping to kill Brightshadow because of her eventual betrayal, and many other cats. The disease raged through all the Clans, killing many. Brightshadow escaped alive, but Mistystar died twice, wasting her last two lives from the sickness. But the Dark Forest had mistaken the epidemic's power. It raged through their ranks too, killing Pikeclaw and many others... Brightshadow became Brightstar the day after Mistystar died from the blackcough epidemic. She led RiverClan for many moons, though war and famine, drought and hardships, but the great Clan stayed strong and grew larger.
Moons and seasons later, Brightstar heard from her friends Snowlily and Iceclaw, who had decided to make a Clan called FrostClan. Interested, the RiverClan leader began visiting them from time to time, learning of their preparations, exploration, etc. Finally, the day came when Iceclaw was leaving RiverClan to join Snowlily in their new frosty home. Brightstar had been thinking about this for days. She'd gone through every possibility, but her heart told her to go with her friend Iceclaw, to join FrostClan. She almost couldn't bear the thought of leaving her Clanmates and her sisters, but she knew that she would be too restless to stay anyways. With a heavy heart, Brightstar called a Clan gathering before Iceclaw left, and told them her decisions. It was met with protest, but gradually, slowly, Brightstar showed them that she had to leave. Changing her name back to Brightshadow, she wished her former Clan the best luck, and promised to always keep an eye on them. Streamfur became Streamstar, and the former RiverClan leader journeyed out to a new life with Iceclaw.
Brightshadow stayed in FrostClan for a couple moons, growing more heartsick with every passing day. She realized that despite the earlier self reasurrences that leaving RiverClan was the better choice, deep in her heart, she knew she could never stay away from her birth Clan. Brightshadow planned her escape, and on the night of a crescent moon, she departed from FrostClan camp, mouthing good-byes to her friends. The she-cat ran for a day and half a night, pausing for only quick naps and rests. She was exhausted, but her heart was light as she came upon the rippling water of the streams. Her Clanmates were overjoyed at her return, and Streamstar agreed to once more become deputy while Brightshadow took the mantle of RiverClan leader. Brightstar.

Origins: Brightstar has mainly RiverClan blood, the descendant of two great RiverClan leaders, Crookedstar and Mistystar. She may of traces of ThunderClan or ShadowClan, because of her strange ability to move silently and camouflage even in forest land.
