Spicepaw's swaggy training (YOLO)

Spicepaw yawned and swiped his tongue over one of his paws before smoothing down a patch of fluffy blue fur on his chest. He looked around at the clearing proudly. He had spent the whole day building himself an obstacle course... out of pebbles and sticks. "Aw yeah," The tom smirked and curled his tail up. "I'm gonna be a warrior after this for sure!" He was definitely old enough to be a warrior. 22 moons! It was embarrassing sometimes, but Spicepaw don't care. Spicepaw don't give. "BRIGHTSTAR!"

"Spicepaw! What have you done?" Brightstar wrinkled her nose at the disheveled appearance of her apprentice. Twigs were stuck in his fur, and his paws were dusty like he'd been rubbing them in a pile of pebbles. Her gaze traveled past him to inspect the... was it an obstacle course?- of pebbles and sticks. Oh dear... At least he wasn't surprising her this time, with becoming mates with this strange, mysterious, unknown cat called Ella Hathaway. No, nevermind, it was Anne Hathaway. That's right. "So... what have you been up to?" The RiverClan leader asked, opting for the safer choice.

"Well, I was with Anne again for a while." Spicepaw said casually, shrugging his shoulders. "Just bringin' the support for her. Fur shedding, y'know?" The tom grinned a little. He couldn't believe his mentor thought he had a mate. A week ago when he was getting his supplies from twoleg gardens, a kittypet named Anne Hathaway tried to make a move on him. Ain't nobody got time for that. He was too busy trying to find the perfect tomato. Besides, his heart had been stolen by a Windclan she-cat. Birdflight. (8D) "After that, I made this thing! Isn't it awesome?!" Spicepaw purred and walked around the course. It was everything that didn't include water!

Brightstar frowned. Spicepaw was always running off at a tandem. Taking the whole afternoon to find the perfect tomato? Yep, that was her apprentice. "Fur shedding?" she muttered, padding closer to eye the pebble and twig obstacle course. It was quite creative, and could've been considered as a work of art except for the fact that it could be blown over by a good gust of wind and it was only small enough to provide a challenge for a vole. "Spicepaw, you should be spending your time practicing swimming, not making your... things," she scolded. The silver-furred she-cat cast another glance at the course, restraining a snort of amusement as she noticed the strange shape the sticks made. A mutated cat face?

Spicepaw smirked proudly and puffed out his chest. "That's Windypaw you're stepping on. You remember him, right? The goofy looking little apprentice with no claws?" He meowed, glancing at his mentor. Spicepaw frowned suddenly. "Who needs swimming when you've got this?"

"Ah, he was the one who got made a warrior recently, right?" Brightstar recalled the brown tabby warrior from the Gathering, WindClan to the core. She shrugged and frowned right back at Spicepaw. "We're RiverClan," she reminded him, gesturing at the river. "Water is our advantage against the other Clans! And besides, if you don't know how to swim and fall in the river, Shamu will try to help you and accidentally swallow you whole instead."

Spicepaw zoned out, his bright yellow eyes as large as stones. That runt was a warrior?! The last time they'd seen each other, Spicepaw was stronger and taller than he was! "Woah, woah, woah. Since when?" He meowed, narrowing his eyes. Somehow he had to find a way to be a warrior. Oh... Training! He thought with a smirk. Spicepaw then charged into the water and started flailing about, his fur bristling at the feeling of water.

If cats could facepalm.... Facepaw? Whatever it was, Brightstar came close to doing it. You didn't come to Gathering last time! she grumbled, following Spicepaw as he charged off toward the river. He'd better-- An explosive splashing ensued the absence of thundering pawsteps. "Spicepaw!" He looked like he was drowning. The RiverClan leader cuffed him gently. "You're still in the shallows," she meowed, trying not to laugh. "No need to... uh, try to drown."

Spicepaw snorted, moving around his paws randomly. "I'm not drowning!" He objected, moving around. "Ew..." Spicepaw grumbled and slowly started to go deeper in.

"Okay," Brightstar meowed doubtfully, moving out of the way. "You need to get used to the water, Spicepaw. You're a RiverClanner!" He actually wouldn't make a bad warrior. He was crazy yes, he disliked water yes, but he was a proficient hunter and a good enough fighter. She followed him as he paddled on.

Spicepaw paddled around in the water and let out a sigh. "Maybe you're right," He meowed, still feeling uncomfortable. "Ew... Um, this isn't that bad. I guess." The tom narrowed his eyes a little. "The look on that fishbrain's face will be worth it." A slightly sinister smirk appeared on his face. They hadn't seen each other in moons and he wanted to see if he was better. That Dark Forest stuff payed off. I've got to see if I can keep it up. Spicepaw thought, starting to get the 'rhythm' of swimming down. Ever since he was 16 moons old though he had not been able to contact them.

"Who's a fishbrain?" Brightstar bobbed after her apprentice, swimming steadily through the water. She was pleased to see that Spicepaw seemed to be getting the hang of it now. He was splashing a lot less and looked like he had more control now. "You're doing good," she said encouragingly.

Spicepaw grinned. "Windysomething, that's who." He meowed. The tom was pleased with his swimming already.

Spicepaw swam furiously until his legs felt like they would fall off. He crawled out of the water, grumbling.

"Good job today," Brightstar acknowleged. "Go get some food from the fresh kill pile or go hunt for yourself. We'll battle train later." She followed Spicepaw to the bank.

Spicepaw sprang ahead, ignoring the fact that he had literally no energy to spare jumping around. "I'LL RACE YOU! WINNER GETS THE FISH I GOT!" He yelled. Spicepaw wasn't really fast, but he wanted that sea bass with a passion. A fiery passion that enveloped his very soul. Strangley for a moment, he saw giant blue eyes. "HURRY, I'M SEEING THINGS!"

Seeing things? Brightstar stared at her apprentice, looking thoroughly alarmed. "What do you mean seeing things?" she asked, and remembering Spicepaw's challenge, added, "Racing to where?" Brightstar studied him carefully. Did he bump his head? If it was a race to the medicine cat's den, it was no contest.

Spicepaw bounded through the reeds and back into his training course. His eyes widened in surprise. All of the sticks and reeds had been knocked to the ground or blown away. Everything was ruined! He frowned. "It took me forever to build this stupid thing!" Spicepaw muttered, brushing away the remains of his magnificent creation. When he looked back at the ground though, he found Windybutt's silly face smiling back at him in the dirst. "Why, Starclan!?"

"It was all too light," Brightstar observed. "Anyways you need to go hunting..." She glanced over her shoulder and frowned. Her apprentice was staring at the ground, looking completely bemused. "What'd you do now Spice?"

"This guy...!" Spicepaw started, but shrugged it off. "Yeah, guess it was... Least I'm good at that stuff!" He smirked, flashing white fangs. There was a mischievous look in his yellow eyes. "Watch this..." Spice sat by the river's edge with a paw ready to strike. He made sure his shadow didn't fall onto the water and as soon as he saw a small flash of silver, he struck, scooping out a plump fish.

"You've been practicing!" Brightstar exclaimed, pleased. Or maybe StarClan blessed him with a miracle. "Alright, if you catch a couple more, you can go ahead and eat something. We'll be practicing combat later." The silver-furred she-cat flicked her tail over Spicepaw's ears as she headed past him, back to ask Streamfur about something.

Spicepaw smirked and puffed out his chest. He was good at hunting. After all, he caught all of his ingredients. "Alrighty, Brighty." He purred and went back to his fishing. Another strike, and another fish popped out onto the ground. Spicepaw killed it with a quick bite and quickly went for a smaller fish with his jaws. He barely caught it by the tail. At least he did.

Streamfur was nowhere to be seen, so Brightstar just assumed she had gone out on patrol. The camp was mostly silent now, with most of the cats out. She settled down outside her den, eyeing Spicepaw from afar. Maybe it was time for a warrior ceremony soon.

Streamfur entered the camp, returning from a patrol. "How is Spicepaw's training going?" she meowed. She glanced over to where Spicepaw was. "By now it must be almost time for him to become a warrior. When is he going to take his final assessment?"
