Other Badges

How about some more badges, like a "First 500" badge, for the first 500 people. And a REALLY special badge called "First 10" for the first 10 users! If you have any other cool badges you would like to add, ask me!

I like the idea. But really it wouldn't be necessary, because most people who were first 10 or 500 users are inactive. But that's just my opinion

Not Brightstar and Drgaonclaw. And 80% of the people who are active are in the first 500.

Isn't Iceshadow a pretty early member too? ^^ I don't know much about administration panels, but I think the Tech Team would have to go to each member's account individually and add the badges. It would be a project that'll take a lot of time.

first 500 would be tough. because then new members will just be sad because they don't even have a chance of getting one, unlike the yearly awards or something. i think the badges for achievements are much better, since you can get them as long as you're devoted, and you didn't have to join two years ago to prove that.

Well, it isn't really something to be sad about, because they didn't join in a certain time period, so there is nothing to be done, really.

I agree with Cheesestar It seems like a great idea at first and its pretty creative, but if I were a new member and I see all these cool badges that some members have, knowing me I'd love to have one. But to realize that I could never get a badge I'd be upset and it'd just be constantly annoying to see badges I could never receive.

No it wouldn't. They would have had the option to get it, if they joined before, so not whoever made them's fault.

Well they wouldn't have known WCF back then, so I agree with Birdflight. I mean, I kind of understand your point, Lunarlight, but maybe they couldn't. Maybe they didn't know what RPing even was.

Well, you have to do special things to earn badges.

Yes, you need to do special things, but you do not need to be a special person. When the first 500 joined, there weren't even badges then. Many are inactive anyway.

It's no one's fault if they're not part of that "special" crowd who joined earlier. They couldn't have joined earlier. If they had, you probably wouldn't get that badge. You'd feel pretty excluded then, wouldn't you?
They would've had the option, of course. That option was just a year ago when badges didn't even exist.

I suggested the first 10 members one, I'm not one of those, but do I feel left out? NO! People need to understand that some people might get things others don't.

I think this idea isn't very effective, and thus, I would say no to this.

The badge system isn't like a competition, it's more of to reward you for your achievements and be recognized for it. I recommended this badge idea to Dragonclaw because I wanted the members who actually deserved to be recognized for their achievements. So what if you're the first 100 to join WCF? It isn't an achievement. It's just that those members happen to know Warriors earlier and join WCF.

Andddd, it would be a chore for the Tech Team to individually add badges to the first 500 members.

They wouldn't have to do it individually, there is something on another site that gives it to everyone at once.

WCF is WCF, you shouldn't keep comparing it with other sites. And, I already stated in my first point that its pretty redundant :/

I agree with CheeseStar and Phantom.

Badges are solely for giving you recognition for your past achievements. Meaning maybe you won a contest, or participated in an Official RPG. But being the first 500 people on WCF isn't exactly an achievement that angles to that same kind of point. You didn't have to be the first 500. And just think if you never did 'achieve' that. Then you yourself wouldn't be in line for the badge and you could feel left out. And, what if you were the 501st member? That would be a bummer, wouldn't it? And if they ask Dragonclaw for a badge because they're one member away from that, then that will trigger the next person after that person to ask and it will be like dominoes. Regardless, I think this suggestion should be declined.

Here at WCF badges are earned not given out automatically. We want all members to have an equal opportunity of earning these coveted badges. Why would it be special if it was given automatically for merely registering?
