They said tht the calendar meant an era was ending, not the world. Well just simply move on to a new phase.

If the world did end, is be curious of how it would end. Disease? Earthquakes? Starvation?

I'd base it off of something I can't say here, which makes me believe it's not true.

Psh, just because the Mayan calender ended, doesn't mean the world is going to end.

They were estimating when THEIR calender (Lives) were going to end, not ours. Besides, it was just a theory that it was when they were going to die.

There are a few interesting things about that date that the world is supposed to end though.

First of all, that date is the date when all planets will line up together. That's pretty rare and uncommon.

Secondly, every few hundred years or so, the San Andreas fault in California is supposed to violently cause an earthquake. Usually when it gets to 19 feet of displacement, it rips and violently shakes. It has accumulated over 20 feet of displacement now. The last earthquake there was in the 1800s, when California had a population of 400,000. Now it has several million.

Third of all, this year is the year of the dragon on the Chinese calendar. This has least significance, but usually years of the dragon are very significant and can be catastrophic.

Weird how all of these things fall on this year and around that date

I don't believe I'm anyone knowing when the world is going to end. It's from something we're not allowed to say and I don't want to get eaten.

Well, the planets never will exactly line up. They'r on different planes, so it's like skew lines that will never intersect. And even if they do, the planets are way too far apart to cause any strange gravity pulls on Earth, much less reverse the poles. I know, because I did a model in a physics camp.

I don't think the year of the dragon says anything. It's just a coincidence.

I haven't seen the movie, so I don't believe in us all dying. I really don't want to die as i want to at least be a teen when i die.

The fact about the San Andreas fault seems to be the most logical, although I do question if the movements would cause the entire planet to fall.

Well I do sometimes feel a little nervous about the world ending but, I don't think it's really going to happen.

They thought the world was going to end in: 2000, 2006, 2010, and now 2012. o.o

Psh. Don't worry people, we obviously have a lot of time. They thought it was going to end in 1938 *rolls eyes*
and the San andreas fault is so small. It's not going to affect the whole planet. The worst that could happen is all the continents moving into an entirely new place, and even that won't happen for about a billion years.

Yeah, some crazy guy thought the world would end on Janurary 2011. We do't have to worry about that!
