He loves playing in small groups, or with other people, but dislikes large orchestras. Is always seen with his Stradivarius. Plays the violin. Considered a prodigy at a young age, but gets jealous when others are more skillful than him. He loves playing duets. ~Jadefrost

Cara, Short, Asian girl with large eyes and chin-length hair. Plays the Trumpet Dance and Flute. Does not like show-offs or modest people, particularly younger ones. ~CheeseStar

Amy, Tall, teenage Asian girl with shoulder-length black hair. Smart and athletic, she also plays tennis and is very competitive. Is always rather social and talks to anyone. Plays the viola. Is also considered a prodigy on the viola, she is proud of her skills, but would help her friends (to an extent of course) with improving their own skills. ~ Let's start of with rise and shine! ~

~ Anyone wants to be roommates with Dominique or Emmanuel? Its a girl and girl, boy and boy room pairing thing. ~

~Amy can be roommates with Dom. ~

Amy blinked awake, the sunlight from the window streaming into the room as it painted it with an abstract of pale gold and dark shadows. Yawning into her pillow, she rolled onto her back, kicking the blankets off. The room was hot (Is it summer or winter? :O) and it was uncomfortable to remain under the covers. Sliding to a sitting position, she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes as her hand reached for her iPhone. Amy need to check the Calendar. Even at the first moments of waking, she remembered that something was important today.

~ Summer ~

Dominique was long awake before Amy. She sat by her bed, staring thoughtfully out of the window, her long platinum blonde hair shining gold under the light rays of sunlight. She jolted out of her thoughts when Amy woke up. "Morning," She said in her musical voice. "How are you feeling?"

~Heh, she might be around two years older. Don't worry, I actually have a friend called Amy who is two years older than me IRL. We're good friends. ~

"Morning," Amy replied, smiling. "A little murky at the moment, but I'll be fine in a few moments." She got up and went into the bathroom, where she took a quick shower, brushed her teeth, and combed her hair out of its currently messy state. "Do you remember what was supposed to happen today? It's important." Chair tests maybe?

~ I know who you're talking about ~

~ What's a chair test? ~

Dominique shrugged. "We're in different classes." Her pale blue eyes twinkled, filled with silent laughter. "How would I know?" She rummaged through her bagpack and took out a file of music sheets.

"Oh." Amy laughed then. "I forgot. You play the piano." She leaned over her bed and grabbed her backpack, lugging it over to the other side. Rummaging around, Amy pulled out her music binder. "There is a chair test today!" Feeling both excited and nervous, she stuffed her binder back in. "Good thing I'm prepared," she said cheerfully. "Do you have anything important today, Dom?"

~A Chair test is.... You know in orchestra where everyone sits in like... groups? Like 1st violin, 2nd violin, viola, cello, and bass? Well there's a leader of each section, and that's 1st chair. The person sitting beside the 1st chair person/sharing his or her stand, is 2nd chair. And behind the 1st chair person is third chair. The person sharing the third chair person is fourth chair. And so on. Confusing?~

~Well, there's no other boy, so Em and Kai can be roomies? Idk...~

Kai awoke to bright streaming light through the window of his dorm room. "Another day at Music Academy..." he thought, letting out a small sigh. He closed the curtains, and looked at the time. "It's still early..." he breathed. He checked his schedule of classes for the day, and realized that in bright red ink, it read-- "CHAIR TEST." Groaning inwardly, he sat back down on his bed singing the audition cut in his mind. He turned his head, and saw Emmanuel still sprawled on his bed. "Hey, rise and shine," Kai called out, nudging his fellow violinist awake. "We've got chair tests today-- there's still time to practice before today's rehearsal." He pulled out his Stradivarius, and gave it a quick strum to check for pitch. Hooking on a hotel mute (it's a mute that dims the sound), he ran through the chair test cuts effortlessly, his brow furrowed in concentration. He wondered if anyone else was stressing out like he was.

Amy opened her viola case as she spoke, pulling out her expensive instrument. Rubbing some a little rosin on her bow, she set the case down and pulled out a tuner. After checking the to make sure all the strings were in tune, Amy hooked on the hotel mute the school issued to the orchestra students, in case they practiced late at night or early in the morning. Still waiting for Dominique's response, she strummed experimentally, tapping out her chair test song on the strings without making a single mistake. One of them was exceptionally fast, which would make it easy to mess up when you were nervous.

Kai set down his violin, pausing at a tricky section in the excerpt. "No doubt everyone's going to be fussing over that bit..." he thought. He took another sideways glance at Emmanuel, who still hadn't answered him. Kai sighed inwardly, and went silent for a moment, his sensitive ears listening. "A violist," he confirmed after hearing faint sounds of strumming. "Looks like I'm not the only one practicing..." He suspected it was Amy, who was just about as talented on the viola as he was on the violin. "Wakkkee uppp!" he shouted, trying to rouse Emmanuel. He decided that if his roommate refused to wake, he would have to play Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole right in his ear, which wasn't a pleasant experience for anyone.

Idk how an orchestra works, so please help?

~What do you want to know about orchestra? I'm the ultimate master of symphony ('Cuz I'm in the top group of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra) Since you're the only wind/brass (kinda weird to play both...they require different techniques) player right now, we'll have full orchestra I suppose. Full orchestra combines the strings with the winds and brass, and they play symphony pieces. Since Cara plays Trumpet, she's in brass. What a chair test is is that the members in the strings have to play an excerpt for a judge, and they get scored and ranked. The higher the score, the further up the members sit. Wind and Brass players usually don't have chair tests, they rotate around from piece to piece... and there's not really anyone for you to compete with now... We could just have imaginary characters in the background that make up the orchestra, but they don't rp? Usually a symphony's really big...~

i think i got it. well, the only part i need to know anyway

i've always wanted to play trumpet, but i had to play flute for two years until i got my braces off, that's why i play both so i just made my character play both, too

Cara walked into one of the practice rooms (i'm guessing the school has some, since it's a full-on Music Academy), oiling her middle key and letting it drip off onto the dingy carpet. She blew once or twice, emptying the sink in the washroom across the hall. She played a bit from the hardest and most annoying song she had, and, ultimately failed.

Amy paused in her strumming at a loud shout. Something that might've been, "Wakkee uuppp!" She immediately sourced the yell, which was apparently coming from Kai and Emmanuel's room. Doubling over in silent laughter, Amy stopped strumming until the bout of mirth passed. Suppressing another laugh, she guessed it was Kai who had shouted. Em wasn't the type to be up so early. Shaking her head, Amy began practicing again, running through the fast song.

~ Chair Tests is confusing me much. I only play the piano ~

~ Emmanuel can room with Kai ~

"Anything important?" Dominique echoed. She frowned. "I'm off to practice my piece." She closed her music book lightly, put on a shirt and jeans, and headed out of the room.

Emmanuel grunted and blinked, opening his eyes a slit wider. "You don't have to make such a din," he complained. "You sounded like a herd of elephants." He got up and went to brush his teeth.

~Chair tests isn't that complicated. Basically you play a little part of a song for a judge, and they order you from best to worst and that is where you sit in the orchestra. ~

Kai let out a small snort, "You're the din that doesn't wake up on time, and I can do louder than herds of elephants." He smiled and hummed Candide by Bernstein, one of his favorite orchestral pieces. He double checked that he had all his musical stuff and the key to the dorm, and picked up his violin. "Hurry and finish up," he called out to Emmanuel. "You ready for the chair test?"

"Mmm. Yeah," Emmanuel mumbled as he got dressed. It took almost 10 minutes for him before he was done. He picked up his violin case and slung it over his shoulder before making his way out of the room. "Let's go," He drawled, snatching the keys from Kai playfully.

~You just LOVE to take stuff from my characters, don't you... first the muffin, now keys? XDDD~

Kai narrowed his eyes slightly as Emmanuel snatched the key from his hand, but didn't say anything. Striding forwards to lead the way towards the rehearsal room, he glanced towards the girls dorms; a quick check to see if anyone else was heading off to rehearsal.

Amy nodded and changed quickly. Grabbing her viola, she tucked her orchestra binder under her arm as she grabbed a bottle of water. Fumbling awkwardly with door, she finally nudged it open and stepped out into the hallway. I'll be as ready as I'll ever be, she decided as she spotted Em and Kai further down. "Hey! Wait up!" Shifting her things to a better position, Amy jogged up the two violinists. "Ready for the chair test?"

Kai heard a shout, and looked back, seeing Amy run somewhat frantically towards them. He smiled, and told Emmanuel to wait up for her. "Ugh, the chair test," he groaned. "Watch out for the Tchaikovsky," he warned the both of them. "It flies by in the blink of an eye..." He wrinkled his nose slightly, as if he had smelled something unpleasant, and headed into the Music Academy Rehearsal Hall. He blinked his eyes several times, adjusting to the dimmer light inside the room.

~Are we going to have a bunch of imaginary stand-in characters? Usually a symphony has tons of players, and right now we're at a shortage of characters... Just a suggestion...like they could be a small part of the story, or only mentioned once or twice, nobody has to rp them majorly or anything... Idk just an idea?~

Emmanuel smirked when he saw Amy. "Hello Amy," His greeting was brief. His fingers itched to take out his violin and start playing. He followed Kai and Amy into the Music Academy Rehearsal Hall.
