The Hail
- Spoiler:
- A monster skidded to a halt beside a Twoleg nest. There was no shelter, no monster den. A Twoleg kit's wail sounded from inside the monster's belly, oily tears squirting from her eyes. "What do you think you're doing!" scolded the female Twoleg. "The car will be destroyed before you know it!" "But we are beside a shop in the middle of the highway!" argued the male. The Twoleg kit prayed that the hail would stop. Suddenly, there was a sound. The glass broke, and the monster died.

"Owlstar, this is hopeless, the warriors' den is destroyed!" yowled Cloudspots. The old medicine cat had been treating wounds ever since the Moonstone was discovered. Sweetbriar came to Owlstar next, her kit dangling in her jaws. "Put Pinekit in the medicine den, now!" Owlstar sneered. He didn't want to give up any more cats to StarClan, since Sweetbriar's mate, Rabbitear died.
The hail was hopelessly vast, cats are dying. The medicine den was full of queens and elders, each carrying kits. ThuderClan will survive, thought Owlstar. Thunderstar had led it through disasters like this, ThunderClan must, and will survive! A half-moon ago, Owlstar was just a deputy, leading the clan alongside Thunderstar. Now he was a leader, trying to protect his clan from a disaster.
Owlstar hated to admit but he needed help from another clan. Somehow, the hail is only happening along the Twoleg border and in ThunderClan territory. Owlstar hoped that RiverClan or WindClan would offer help. ThunderClan was in peril, and the clans had to know. Owlstar led his clan through ThunderClan territory and into RiverClan.
"Welcome, Owlstar, what brings you into our camp?" asked Waterstar. "They brought half the clan, so it must be an invasion!" sneered Wetfur, a RiverClan warrior. Dapplepelt, the medicine cat, was sitting beside her apprentice, Milkfur. "There is a vast hailstorm that only covers ThunderClan territory." Owlstar mewed, his gaze fixed on the grey clouds on top of ThunderClan. "I see," muttered Waterstar, her eyes filled with pity as she welcomed ThunderClan into RiverClan territory.
Owlstar thought about the hailstorm, about the bodies of dead cats laying in the camp, all the kits and elders that fled into the medicine den. I hope they're safe, thought Owlstar. It was true that his vision is like an owl's, extremely sharp. But he can't see all the way up to StarClan, or the plans they have for ThunderClan. Owlstar let out a silent prayer. StarClan help us!
A whole day has come and gone, but the hail hasn't stopped yet. Meanwhile, clouds were forming above RiverClan territory as well as ThunderClan's. Rain has fallen onto the camp, and by the looks of it, there will be hail. Now Waterstar was the one who is frightend of her clan being lost. Owlstar knew that he and Waterstar had to defend their clans, side by side...

Meanwhile, ShadowClan was also suffering the vast hail, though WindClan was the worst, since it is in the open moorlands. Beyond the forest, SkyClan was the only clan that didn't suffer hail. But now, even the kittypets have to worry. A few nests were destroyed, thanks to the hail. Every clan in the forest were traveling to Skyclan now. When will this madness stop? StarClan help us! Prayed Waterstar.
ThunderClan and RiverClan had reached SkyClan. "Cloudstar," Owlstar greeted the SkyClan leader. "Please help us!" begged Waterstar. Cloudstar smiled. "Of course I will!" he purred. The clans were treating the wounded and sharing tongues about the hail. Suddenly, Owlstar saw the clan territories. They were not blocked by grey clouds, but clear. "Let's go, ThunderClan!" he yowled.
Waterstar saw Owlstar go, so she ordered RiverClan to follow. WindClan and ShadowClan were next, trailing after them. As he entered his territory, Owlstar ordered his clanmates to pick up every dead body on the way, along with cats who were making dirt. Owlstar was relieved to see the kits and elders safe in the medicine den.
"This day shall be known as The Hail!" Owlstar yowled. "We will cherish all the cats who died with our memories!" Sweetbriar replied. So ThunderClan survived, as well as the other clans.
