Broken Destiny

The moon rose higher into the desert sky's, and a silver tabby she-cat sat, her back against the sky, her eyes hopefully scanning the bright, beautiful night sky for signs of her past mentor, Jala. Then a darker sandy tom padded silently out of the warriors den, his amber eyes shadowed by the bright moonlight. "Can I speak with you?" he asked softly, keeping his voice down so their kits in the den could not hear them. "Oh, sure." purred the silver tabby she-cat happily. Then she noticed her mate's depressed mannor, and she insantly padded toward him, her eyes soft. The dusty tabby tom flinched, and scooted backwards, keeping his gaze down. "What is it?" the silver tabby met her mate's shadowed amber eyes and insantly felt sick. "W-what's wrong?" she managed to sqeak. "I'm leaving the tribe, to return to Thunderclan. I still love my old mate, Lunarshadow more than I love you." The dusty tom mewed, his eyes hardend to a forcefull amber glare. "B-but.... What about Moonkit, Flarekit, and Iriskit?!" she cried out, then she wailed "Don't you love me?!" she sobbed, "I love you with my life! I would give it up nine times for you!" she whimmpered. The dusty tom flinched, then he gave a throaty growl, and spat "Then you'll waste all your love, AND your lives." Then the dusty tom turned tail, and leaped down, and padded out of the camp. The silver she-cat was left there, all alone, then she flung her head back, and screamed "WHY?! WHY HAS STARCLAN DONE THIS! THEY TOOK MY MOTHER, MAGICSTAR! MY FATHER, SNAKEFIRE! EVEN MY MENTOR SPIRITSTAR AND MY AUNT DREAMCLOUD! WHY HAS STARCLAN TAKEN DUSTYTUFT AWAY FROM ME TOO?!" she screamed, tears streaking her face. Her eyes wild with pain. The clan had come outside of their dens in time to witness their leader's terrible grief. A slender silver she-cat stepped forward, her eyes shimmering in the moonlight, and she tipped her head up, and let her pained voice join her older sister's. Finally when the slender white-grey she-cat's voice was raw from her grievous wails, and turned and hung her head and murmured "Oh Gracestar,my sister, why must you lose eveything? Why must you have a Broken Destiny?"

"I remember the death of her.." Fang, the most highly respected elder in the forest, mewed softly, his green eyes soft as he recalled the death of his dearest friend.
"Who...my mother?"
"Yes, Gracestar, and seeing you so young and ambitous really reminds me of Magicstar."
"Oh, Fang. I'm sorry-"
"No need Gracestar, now shall I continue the story?"
"Yes please, do."
"I remember Magicstar fighting with all the stenght of Tigerclan. SHe was so brave, but she was also foolish, and when she saw..." Fang broke off, turning away, hiding his pain from Gracestar.
"What Fang? What did she see?"
"Well, as you know Gracestar, Desert wolf's were attacking, so it was no fight for bravery, it was a fight for your life..."
"Oh my..."
"And cats all over the territory's were having troubles with these animals."
"I remember, I was a young warrior then."
"Shut up, fur ball! Do you want to hear the story or not?"
"I do! I do!"
"Ok, as I was saying, the battle was grousome, and so many cats died."
"...."
"And as the battle ended, it was basicly it was Magicstar against those dog's leader. I swear to Starclan I've never seen a cat that angry!"
"My mother was angry...?"
"OH yes, she was calling down curses I've never heard of, and she was so angry, she tried to drive the dogish creature to those rocky ridges, what the blast where they called?"
"Moon Shadow ridges Fang."
"Yes, anyways."
"Continue!"
"So, Mallownose, who was staying with the tribe while Phoenixflower visted her mother, charged after her, and leaped right into the creature's jaws."
"I remember that, poor Mallownose."
"And so, Magicstar shrieked that Starclan give her courage to face her ultimate death, before she knocked Mallownose out of the dogs jaws, and pulled the dog into the gourge."
"My brave mother..."
"Magicstar broke all her bones, and as she lay dying, Spiritstrike, Snakefire, and I tried to tell her to save her breath, but she wouldn't. She had a vision to tell..."
"What was that?"
"When the Gracefull Song arises on the Winds, she will face ultimate enemy, herself. She will batte through, and lead the Tribe to the heavens beyond."
"Is....that...about..."
"Yes, Gracestar. The prochey that Magicstar, Dreamcloud, and others died trying to protect has been revealed finally."

Fang's green gaze haunted Gracestar's dreams, as she had nightmare's of her mother's death, Spiritstar's death, but mostly her mother and Dreamcloud's death. Noble Dreamcloud went down as she lived, fighting to protect the one's she loved. In the end, Magicstar and her sister made the ultimate sacrifice, both saving who they love. Suddenly, she heard a unision of Magicstar, Dreamcloud, Spiritstar, Snakefire, and countless other cats, murmur...

"Gracestar, you may suffer, just as your family did, countless times, but know, your family will be awating you to finish your destiny, the Broken Destiny..."
