Hard Rain -All Clans May Participate-

Shardstep sat at the edge of her den as she watched rain pour down into the camp. For a moment she extended a paw forward to test the ground. It held for a few heartbeats before sinking in when she put weight on it. Pulling out the foot with a slight 'pop' sound. She flicked mud off her paw seeing it dot the ground brown. She wasn't that worried about Skyclan, because the rain water rolls easily off the cliffs. Though, other clans may be in danger to floods.
"Oh dear!" She exclaimed padded farther into the den. Her long fur batting in the wind coming through the opening. "Maybe I'm just getting too nervous about this storm..." She mewed settling down into her nest. Picking up a leaf of thyme she chewed idly on it hoping to calm herself.

Rainfeather woke up. She could not sleep. She sat up and saw Shardstep gazing wearily out of her den. Shestepped delicately over sleeping cats and bounded out of the den, shaking her fur as drops of water hit her shimmering pelt. "Shardstep, what are you doing up?" She walked into the medicine cat den, shaking her head as a drop of water hit her nose. "I couldn't sleep either."

"Greetings Rainfeather." She mewed dipping her head to the clan's deputy. "The rain is just troubling me a bit. I don't want anymore sickness than normal with leaf-bare approaching."

"Yes, you are right to be worried."Rainfeather turned around to lick her tail, which was now soaked and muddy. "I hope it won't give anyone whitecough, or.." She trailed off. She knew too many who had died of greencough, her mother one of them.

"I do have a pretty decent size store of catmint, though there is also chickweed." She mewed flicking one of her ears towards the cleft in the stone where she stored herbs. Looking over at Rainfeather she saw emotion flash through the eyes of the she-cat.
Padding over she licked her comfortingly between the ears.
"Your mother was recruited by Starclan through greencough, yes?" She purred delicately careful not to upset her.
"Ive often herd the elders speak of her while I cured there cracked pads. Tell me, you spoke of not being able to sleep,yes? I could give you a poppy seed or two."

Rainfeather stared up at the sky, nodding. "Yes, she.. she.." She broke off. "I'm sorry." SHe shook herself and said, "Well, we might want to get some more catmint, just in case... Yes, a poppy seed would be nice. I am sorry if I disturbed you."

"It is never a disturbance when I can help someone." Nudging a poppy seed toward Rainfeather she flicked her tail towards one of the patient nests. "The rain is starting to pick up, you may sleep here. Getting wet is not a good thing with the wind blowing. You would look like a water-washed apprentice." She meowed stifling a bit of laughter in her voice.

Rainfeather smiled. "Thank you," She took the poppy seed. "You are very hospitable. Are you sure?"

"Who knows. Letting you sleep here may save me a patient." She mewed before turning to her herb store and started sorting.

In WindClan camp, Applefur raced inside with a soddened rabbit. She groaned as she placed it onto the soddened fresh kill pile. "Darn it soggy rabbits never taste good." Applefur growled. She raced across the clearing into the warrior den. Tonight she wasn't sleeping outside. She scowled. At least were up on the hills so we wont get flooded. Poor RiverClan. She thought.

CheeseStar woke up to a wet cloud. She cringed, thinking she'd wet her den. But when she stepped outside, she almost fell through the cumulus cloud. When she looked down, the clouds were thin and dripping wet; all the rain had come out of it but it was reforming. She panicked and scanned the area. All the clouds were grey and damp. If she didn't move quickly, The clouds might completely disappear or turn into unsustainable homes for the cats. Quickly, she called a Clan meeting to discuss stuff. They agreed they'd have to move to the mountains.

Shardstep clicked her claws on the dry stone floor of the herb store as she counted the stalks of chickweed and the leafs of catmint. "Maybe I should bring some to Windclan. The moors were never a good place for growing such plants." She mewed sorting some of the pile out into the clearing. "If I go the edge of the stream on our territory I can cross over to Windclan easily and bring them the plant. I would feel dreadfully guilty if any cat got sick and I didn't do anything." She grabbed a mouthful of the sweet smelling leafs and headed towards the opening of her den. "I'll be back before sunhigh tomorrow," she mewed to Rainfeather before dashing out of camp towards Windclan territory.

Honeystar was on his way back to camp from patrolling SkyClan border, when he spotted Shardstep approaching.
"Greetings Shardstep." Honeystar mewed. "What brings you out here in weather like this?"

Shardstep set the leaves down onto a stray leaf that sat on the ground so they wouldn't get dirty. "I just thought that Windclan might need some catmint, with leaf-bare approaching and the storm it's a good time as any for the clans to be helping each other." She mewed nodding in respect to the leader.

Though Honeystar's pelt was cold and wet, his heart was burning like a warm fire.
"Thank you so much Shardstep. I quite agree. Harsh times like these are when all clans need to work together more than ever. It's still hard for me to believe that it wasn't always like this." He shook his head. "Anyways, your generous gift and compassionate words are most welcomed. I'll make sure that WindClan will return in kind someday when needed."

Streamfur watched worridly as the river rose higher and higher. If this rain doesn't stop soon, the whole camp will flood she thought.

"Streamfur," Brightstar padded down the bank of the river to sit next to her deputy. "The river's rising fast, isn't it? I think we should move the queens and the elders to high ground, just in case. If it doesn't flood, then that'll be great. But it's better to be safe than sorry. What do you think?"

"I agree with you Brightstar" Streamfur meowed. "This rain doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon and I think it might be getting even harder. I'll help get the other queens and kits across. Who will be helping the elders?"

"I can," Brightstar replied. "And maybe Talonstrike can help too. We should also stock up on prey now, before the river rises any further. Can you deal with that as soon as you can?"

Kitty flicked her tail irrtably as she was drenched in rain, and hurried from her shelter under a stragly holly bush near camp, and plucked up her rabbit and raced into camp.

"Sure Brightstar" she meowed. She hurried over to the nusery and gathered the queens and kits, helping them across the river one at a time. Once they were all acoss, she found a bush and made it into a den. Then she sat by the river and caught some fish.

Kitty woke from her nightmare, and padded throught the drizzling rain, until she reached the ridge that over looks the lake and she did some things she rarely did; she cried. " Whyyyyy.....why father......why did you kill her?! You lied to me throught gritted teeth, you took a kits trust and a mates love and smashed it into a billion piecies!" her tiny body racked with sobs, that tore through her. Then she saw her fathers reflection in the lake and she cried " fa-father?" the large tom looked at her, his eyes blank and he mewed " Oh Kitty...I'm so sorry! I had to do it...I had to kill your mother.....she was going to kill you and frame me....but she had too! But if this rain continues....it won't be long before you join me and your mother...." Kitty gasped, her heart broke in two, and she clawed his reflection and ran, ran away to nowhere because thats where she felt safe....nowhere she felt safe.

Applefur woke up from her nap. She yawned and stretched out. She saw the rain continue. She hissed. All of a sudden she felt water all over her paws. The whole clearing was like a huge puddle. She gasped. "Dear StarClan... h-how in the world did the water rise so high!" She whispered. By now all the prey was almost underwater. Better prey than none. She thought and plucked up a rabbit. She shook it a little trying to dry it some and quickly ate it before it got more wet. She scrunched up her nose for the rabbit tasted like dirt and rain water. "Ugh. Gross!" She exclaimed.

Kitty stumbled into camp, her body looking smaller than Moonpaw, and her eyes dull. She passed Applefur and she muttered " This is it.....Starclan save us all.....the water that gives up life shall end our lifes....mama I'll meet you soon." then she sat down inthe clearing letting the rain soak her even more until she thought she would never ever feel warmth again!

"Oh no you dont!" Applefur cried pulling up the warrior by the scruff. She stood Kitty to her paws. "Stay strong! Were WindClan! We can counter some water! Now, we should move the queens kits and elders up some hill some more. I'll talk to Honeystar of course first." Applefur said. "And Kitty. If you need anything just yowl." She said gently to her friend.
