Apprentice Training

It was a sunny day in Thunderclan territory. But today was the day the apprentice training begins. The sandy hollow is full of apprentices training, from basic fighting skills to tracking skills. But some are learning the basics to hunt. What will you do?

All Apprentices and mentors are able to join.

Briarpaw bounced around happily waiting for Leopardwing. She was so very excited for her first apprentice training and will always remember it! Briarpaw also wondered would she learn to hunt,fight,track, or any other basics? She stuck her head out of the apprentice's den and searched for Leopardwing. Today had to be the happiest most joyful day of her life!

Leopardwing padded out the Warriors' Den to find an overly excited Briarpaw. "Hello." She mewed, looking at the young appprentice in her bright eyes. "Today, I"ll show you around our territory." She mewed boldly, heading towards the exit of the camp. "Come along, we don't have all day." She mewed.

Briarpaw with her eyes almost popping out of her head raced toward Leopardwing. She was hoping there would be action but a tour was good enough! She waited for Leopardwing to take the lead and tell her all about her home!

Leopardwing froze. "See, that's a mouse." She mewed softly, stalking it in her best hunting pose. In a spilt second, the mouse was killed by a paw swipe. "Did you see my form? In order to catch a juicy mouse like I did, you must be light on your paws." She mewed, looking at the young apprentice.

Briarpaw stared in awe as her mentor killed a mouse. She crouched low trying to mirror her mentor's stance but Briarpaw didn't really have perfect balance. She stumbled a few times but finally got balanced. Her stance wasn't beautiful but she looked up at Leopardwing for reinsurance.

Leopardwing purred. "Work on your balance a bit more." She mewed. "Try not to put all your weight on your back paws." She added. "Come on, we have more time to practice that later. Anyways, what do you smell in this area. Would it be safe to continue our journey?" She quizzed.

Silverwing padded into the Sandy Hollow with Heatherpaw and Milypaw. "Leopardwing, we will be training these 3 between the two of us today." She mewed nodding to the she-cat. "She looked between Leopardwing and Briarpaw. "Perhaps it would be easier if we started out by giving them a tour and making them familiar with the scents of the border markers."

MilkyPaw followed SilverWing. She looked around at the Sandy Hollow in awe. This is a new start for me.... she thought. Then she looked at both LeapardWing and BriarPaw.

Her tail swished back and forth excitedly while her pelt bristled. "Let's start already!" Heatherpaw cried as she pounced on Milkypaw. "Let's practice some battle training or some hunting. The apprentice jumped off of Milkypaw then and pranced after a leave that was tumbling through the hollow.

MilkyPaw cried for a short second in surprise and then lay there on the ground with a stunned look on her face. She then got up slowly and shook off her pelt. i need to learn how to open up, I'm just too shy....after what happened long ago...... she thought to herself.

Leopardwing nodded at Silverwing. "You two, would you calm down a bit?" She mewed at Milkypaw and Heatherpaw. "Silverwing and I are going to show you around the territory right now. Battle training can wait." She mewed at the borh of them, flicking her tail.

Silverwing purred in amusement and winked at the two apprentices. Leaning down she whispered to them, "She won't always be this uptight. She's probably just trying to prove herself as a mentor and deputy." She straightedge back out, glossy silver coat glistening in the light. "Lets take them by the Skyclan border first" she said as she headed towards the northern half of the territory.

Briarpaw followed after Leopardwing and Silverstar. She sniffed the air around her and came across a different scent. It must be SkyClan scent and a little mouse too! she thought to herself. She thought about what Leopardwing had told he about balance and how she could perfect her stance. Then she started to think about fighting skills and hunting. Not watching where she was going Briarpaw tripped over a tree root.

Ghostfur got up lazily and stretched before padding out of the warrior's den. By chance, he glanced over at the apprentice's den and remembered that today was the start of apprentice training. Mouse dung! I nearly forgot, I have an apprentice now! he thought as he rushed over to the apprentice's den. He poked his head in and called, "Hey, Shimmerpaw! Get up, you don't want to be late to your first day of training do you!? We need to hurry if we want to catch up with the others!"

Leopardwing purred. "Had a nice trip?" She joked. "It's vital to know what is happening around you, Briarpaw. But I would assume the scent of a small mouse somewhere and SkyClan would overexcite you." She added, while continuing towards the northern half of the territory.

Milkypaw nodded in agreement at SilverWing. Milkypaw stretched her head a little bit, smelling the scents in the air. She then started following SilverWing to the skyclan border, but cautiously and alert.

The silver tabby stopped rather suddenly. "Alright, this will be close enough for now." She turned to look at the three apprentices with one elegant motion before sitting down. "Now, Milkypaw, what can you smell?" She mewed eying up the small white apprentice with a cool blue gaze.

MilkyPaw sniffed the fresh air. "There are some scents I'm not familiar with...." She mewed in a soft small voice, "but I do smell some mice. I had to hunt them on my own a little while back." She looked up at SilverWing.

"How about you Briarpaw? You've been jumpy so far, so I would assume some of these scents are overwhelming you." Leopardwing mewed, looking at the young apprentice. She sat down as well, letting the Sun beat down her her tawny pelt, making her have a glow almost.

Silverstar nodded softly urging the apprentices to continue. "This probably is a scent that you aren't familiar with. And while you may never be able to distinguish specific cats scents in there, you will certainly grow to recognize the scent of a Skyclan cat. They live in the mountain canyons with very little cover. And because of this they have learned to hunt different types of prey that us and they are very skilled jumpers. If you ever end up battling one, be careful not to let them pin you. If they are successful with that, you are in for a very painful belly rake." She finished

Milypaw listened as best she could, her head cocked to one side. her icy blue eyes shimmered in the sun light. MilkyPaw sniffed a little bit more, trying to memorize the scent of the skyclan cats. Once she thought she had the scent down pretty well, she looked up at SilverWing and nodded

Shimmerpaw jumped at the sound of her mentor's voice and looked at Ghostfur with sleep filled eyes. She blinked hard to clear her vision and got to her feet. She rocked unsteadily and brushed past Ghostfur and walked out of the apprentice den. She Shok herself and began to shake with excitment. "TODAY'S MY FIRST DAY OF TRAINING!! TODAY'S MY FIRST DAY OF TRAINING!!!" She chanted and ran around. She skidded to a halt by her mentor and looked up at him. "So what are we doing?" She asked.

Ghostfur had to suppress a laugh as he watched Shimmerpaw go from groggy to energetic almost instantly. "Well," he said, "I'm gonna give you a tour of the territory. We'll start with the sandy hollow, since that is where most of our training will be." Ghostfur signaled with his tail for his apprentice to follow before padding out of the camp. Once out of the camp, Ghostfur set off at a brisk pace towards the sandy hollow, just slow enough so Shimmerpaw can keep up. "Try to keep up! You don't want the other apprentices to all finish their tours before you, do you?" he called over his shoulder at Shimmerpaw as he picked up a little bit of speed.

Briarpaw was ready to head to he next spot in the tour. She was excited that she learned a new scent. She looked at Leopardwing and waited for her directions.
