The Ghost In The Fortress

Pain stalked through the harsh snow. He felt exposed - his mottled greenish, brown-black cloak did not match well with the icy-white swirls. However, moving at slow speed, one could easily mistake him for a rock. His senses remained on high alert, however, until he reached the safety of the Fortress. He would stay here until it was safe to move. The cats in the forest had become restless with the night, what was hidden the darkness. Tensions were high, but fear had grown too, and Pain had seen them searching for him. He had been on unknown land. The other cats had the advantage. Plus, he had seen the dog. It was big and strong, his nose was sharp. He would have to take care of it.

The storm didn't die down. The wind howled; summer came to no effect on these mountains. He saw the enemy patrol before they approached to Fortress. They were unaccustomed to the extreme conditions and their summer fur were not suited for the weather. There were looking for him. Pain melted into the wall. He would soon take care of them. The Fortress had many secrets. The master of shadows became invisible once more.

Brightstar and the patrol moved onward, glancing around nervously.

Max swam along in the icy river, gulping down salmon as he lolled about in the water. The patrol of warriors walked a tail-length from the big river, glancing nervously over their shoulder, and huddling together. His sharp eye-sight caught a flash of black a distance away. Max whistled warningly.

Icestar jerked her head up at Max's warning, but didnt see anything. "Hmm. Must be a whale thing..."

Whale thing?

Would you have rather me say "Whale thaaaang?"

Silverstream glanced around nervously. What would happen if the killer saw the other tiger of the group? (meaning Scratch)

Max whistled nervously again. There was shriller note in it now. The flash of fur was getting closer.

Icestar looked around, but didnt see anything, still. Max's noises were getting kind of annoying. ((Hey, is this reminding anyone of the werewolf games/mafia wars?))

Brightstar bent over the water. "what?" Brightstar straightened again. "Max says that he sees the killer sneaking up behind us," she whispered.

Icestar couldnt see anything. "I dont know... Are you sure? My ears hurt now..."

"Well, we could not take Max seriously and let the killer kill another one of us," muttered Brightstar.

"True. Lets have the strongest warriors form a circle around the weaker, and apprentices and medicine cats. That way we can defend them"

I doubt it. Monkeystar has no brother.

Night crouched unseen among the snow, watching the killer whale and patrol of cats. He was no friend of them, nor was he familiar with the cats living in the fortress. He would help no one. Night turned and vanished into the shadows.

Anyway-
Icestar stepped in front of Darkpaw, a RiverClan apprentice. She would fight to the death to protect tomorrow's warriors.

Brightstar shouldered Smokepaw, a ShadowClan apprentice and Runningpaw, a WindClan apprentice, into the group. "Move as one!" Brightstar called. "Lotus-star, keep an eye out behind!"

The group shuffled awkwardly through the main hall. "Brightstar?" Icestar whispered. "What if we are too visible as one group? We could easily be attacked. And its slower moving. Maybe we should split up into a few groups, with cats of every clan in them. That way, we would have a wide range of talents."

"All right. Two to Three groups. At least one leader in each group. How many apprentices adn medicine cats do we have right now?"

"Er, lets see. ((I honestly dont know)) well, there is Echosong, Whitefire, Crystaldance, Silentdream, and Starclaw as medicine cats. Then, we have Willowpaw, Darkpaw, Smokepaw, Runningpaw, among other apprentices." Icestar thought. "I can go with Nightfrost, Starclaw, Smokepaw, and whoever wants to join me. That way I have an equal balance of power."

"I'll take Crystaldance, Darkpaw, Tobi, Runningpaw, and Gorsepaw. Since I have more apprentices, I'll take the dog." Brightstar decided. "Monkeystar could take Echosong, Willowpaw, Silverstream, Stormclaw, and someone else. Lotus-star could take Scratch, Mosspaw, Ozone, Adderfang, and Stonestream. Anything else?"

"i can also take Shadowstorm and Cheesefur, since I dont have any warriors. " Icestar pointed out.

"Okay." (Anyone else who comes can join a patrol. Mine, Icestar's, Monkeystar's or Lotus-star's)

Brightstar led her patrol over to the living room. Tobi panted happily behind. sniffing the air.

((Ok.)) Icestar led her group the other direction from where all the other groups were going, back the way they came. Icestar thought she had seen a door or two, and suspected Blizzard's killer wouldnt be so keen to hang around the dead tiger.
