Phoenixclan vs. Griffinclan

Phoenixclan cats live in the desert, and are able to stand great temperatures. They are also very fast. They hunt large birds and are good at jumping. Griffinclan cats live in the mountains by the desert. They are very strong, and are used to living in the colder climate of the mountains. They are also good at jumping and hunt large birds. During a shortage of prey, the two clans accuse eachother of prey stealing, and are on the verge of war.

Swiftstrike twitched her ears, her blue eyes matching the pale eggshell blue of the dawn sky. Her expression was dark and grim, her paws anxiously kneading the rocks. She acknowledged Falconheart with a slight nod, but her mind was elsewhere. Even though her eyes were gazing up at the fresh snow of the mountain peak, she wasn't really seeing anything. An almost audible sigh escaped her mouth and she jutted out her chin, turning slightly to meet Falconheart's gaze. "That's unfortunate," Swiftstrike meowed, stating the obvious. "Have we tried hunting up the mountain in the snows? PhoenixClan might have been stealing prey, and they can't reach the snows up there, much less stand the cold temperature."

Mossfire walked over to Swiftstrike. "Hi, Swiftstrike!" She mewed cheerily.

"No," Falconheart replied. "Would you like Lionpaw and I to try that next or will you organize a patrol...?" As the dappled she-cat waited for Swiftstrike's response, she studied the camp. You know, I bet PhoenixClan is stealing our prey, she thought.

Swiftstrike nodded an affirmative. "Alright. I'll go with you. Are you up for some more hunting? Lionpaw can come as well if he isn't tired, and we'll bring another cat. Clawstorm maybe? Or Sharpclaw." She rose to her paws, padding over to the camp entrance, where she could glimpse the border GriffinClan shared with PhoenixClan. They'd have to keep a close eye on the sneaky desert cats. Shaking her head, the gray she-cat glanced back at Falconheart.

"Yeah, I can go," Clawstorm meowed, padding up to th cats.

Redtalon was sweating and the dust from the ground was creating small dust devils around him. He didn't usually have to walk this close to the GriffinClan mountains to get food. The weather grew cooler as he neared the edge of a high peak. Were they stealing food?

Demonstar slipped out of his den, fiery amber eyes glancing around PhoenixClan camp momentarily. The massive black tom shook out his messy fur and quickly groomed it. Then, the intimidating leader stood to search for his mate. Large paws sinking into the harshly hot sand which PhoenixClan had adapted to, Demonstar made his way through camp silently. As he searched, the mysterious, brooding tom thought of his strange past.

Back when he was merely the scary apprentice, Demonpaw, he had belonged to GriffinClan. In fact, he had been quite close to their leader, Griffinstar whom was also an apprentice then. They were like brothers until Demonpaw was named Demonflare. Then, the young warrior was cast into PhoenixClan's inferno of a desert. All for neing blamed for the death of his own mother. Angelwing had been killed by falling off the mountain. He was framed by another jealous warrior who made it seem like it was Griffinstar who had been the snitch. They had then started to hate one another for false reasons. Demonflare was trusted easily in PhoenixClan because of his strong hate for GriffinClan. He soon was named leader after both Dragonclaw, the deputy () and Lightningstar, the leader ( ) were killed in a vicious rogue attack.

Shivering at the harsh memory, Demonstar impatiently barged into the nursery to see his mate. Once she was in his sight, the tom all but forgot what he was brooding about earlier and smiled softly.

Falconheart nodded and trotted to the warriors den where she stuck her head in and called, "Sharpclaw? Swiftstrike wants us on patrol."
Lionpaw was about to follow his mentor when his stomach rumbled loudly. "Um... Can I eat first?" he mewed, embarrassed.

~Yeah, Stream! When should she have her kits?~

~She could have them right now if you want to. Lighty, how many kits should Featherfire have? One of them could be Sandkit (Sandcloud) sandy colored she-kit with brown eyes.~

Featherfire looked up as Demonstar entered the nursery. She smiled back at him and said, "I think the kits are coming soon."

Griffinstar temporarily forgot about the prey shortage as he looked at his mate, and imagined them together with the kits that they would have soon.

Eaglecall was about to take a bite of the eagle when a jolt of pain shot through her belly. "Griffinstar, the kits... they're coming!" she yowled. She looked at him in pain, and meowed, "Where's the medicine cat (who's the medi cat?)?" She laid on the ground and screeched in pain.

Sharpclaw poked his head out of the warrior's den, his midnight-black eyes blinking, trying to adjust to the light. "Patrol...? Oh, alright." he complied, stretching out with a slight yawn. He smiled slightly at Lionpaw's confession, "I guess a small snack or meal wouldn't hurt..."

Mossfire heard Birchkit screech "BIRCHKIT!" She burst from the nursery bumping Demonstar "Never scare me like that again!" She ordered the kits when she saw they were only playing their favorite game "Bagder Attack." "We were only playing." Birchkit retorted. She stalked back into the nursery to speak to Demonstar "Demonstar. May I sleigh to you when you get a chance?"

Demonstar nodded proudly at his mate. "They will be strong and beautiful like their mother." The mighty tom the looked at Mossfire. "Sure. We can speak in my den." He decided. Saying farewl to his mate, he led tge queen to his den.

The tabby queen followed the mighty leader "Could you make my kits apprentices they have reached 6 moons now for a quarter moon already!" She told him.

Echocloud looked at the herbs she was sorting and heard a screech come from the nursery Eaglecall is kitting she guessed to herself. She grabbed some borage leaf and headed toward the nursery. "Eaglecall, bite on this when the pain comes." She said as she passed the queen a stick she found. "Now, just breathe. And Griffinstar you leave and wait outside I don't need a nervous tom breatheing on my back. Now go, go." She shooed the leader away.

Eaglecall bit down hard on the stick and yowled, "I but I want Griffinstar in here!" the pain got worse. One of the kits were coming. She pushed, and yowled. The pain eased off a bit and she realized she just had a kit. A golden tom. She breathed in and out deeply.

Griffinstar stayed by Eaglecry like she wanted to. He hadn't wanted to leave her either. He smiled as he saw the first kit. He licked her ear to comfort her and whispered, "You're a mother now." After a moment passed, he asked, "Do you need any water or anything else?"

Demonstar sighed. "I apoligize for the wait. I have been quite busy." He mewed a bit coldly. "I will name them apprentices now." He decided. Slipping out of his den he jumped onto the big sand hill that announcements were made on. "All cats who can bear the desert's heat gather at SandPile for a Clan Meeting!" His deep, chilling voice bellowed.

(Alrighty then. Cactuskit (Cactusthorn)- A spikey fured black tom with warm green eyes.)

Redtalon returned to camp, disappointed because he couldn't bring back any prey. Just as he breached the entrance, he could hear Demonstar's loud voice calling him to the sand pile. He noticed Mossfire with their kits. We're they about to be apprentices?

Flamepaw walked out of the apprentice's den, and over to the SandPile. She stared at her leader, imagining that it was her up there, calling a clan meeting to name new apprentices. She shook the vision out of her head and continued looking at Demonstar. Who will their mentors be? the question repeated in her head.

Eaglecall yowled again as the pain got worse. Another kit was coming. She pushed once. Nothing, and then a second time, another kit came. A white she-kit! She pushed one more time and out came an orange she-kit. She looked up at Griffinstar, her eyes tired, but sparkling. "And you're a father." she purred, "What should we name them?"

"Mossfire, bring your kits forward." He commanded once all the Clan had gathered. As usual, the leader looked paranormally eerie and irritated with an impatient light in his eyes.

Swiftstrike snorted in amusement at the two. She knew that Griffinstar was preoccupied with Eaglecall's kitting, and that she shouldn't bother him. Normally, the whole Clan would be excited for the new kits, but the shortage of prey made tempers short and now most of the warriors concentrated on finding more prey for the Clan. Swiftstrike glanced down at the boundary again, and felt briefly assured when her keen blue eyes found nothing it sand and the occasional low-lying shrub. "I guess sharing a rabbit between us wouldn't hurt," the gray tabby she-cat admitted.
